What happened to glyph option in character viewer in Lion?

The character viewer has changed and I frequently use this to access glyphs. Am I missing something?

No external monitors or devices attached. When you mention that this function only works when devices are attached that is true when you set up your preferences that way. Up until my upgrade to Lion the computer would always go into sleep mode when I closed the lid. There also used to be an option to check in system preferences that allowed you to choose this option. My question for the discussion is what happened to that option and how do you get the computer to sleep or at least the display to sleep when you close the lid as we have been able to do in the past. What happened to the option to see all your purchased movies alphabetically? I can only see recent purchases and then I have to look by movie type. With over 500 movies purchased this is a huge pain.

Same issue here. Might have to do with size of library. I too have over 300 purchased movies. "ALL PURCHASED" folder disappeared yesterday on all my AppleTV's. My son only has 20+ purchased movies and his still shows "ALL" folder. However, I had him log in under my account and "ALL" folder is missing??? I hope Apple gets this resolved quickly. I too do not want to flip through various Genres looking for movies.

What happened to "next" option in Track Info window?

When I needed to edit Track names for a whole album, I used to right click the first track, select Get Info, then type in what I needed. When finished with one song, I would hit the "next" at the bottom of the window, and when I was done with all the tracks, I hit OK. Now, once I upgraded to iTUNES 11.0.1.12, I noticed that I could still edit multiple tracks at once, but I could no longer go from track to track within the Info window, which I hate. I have to hit okay, then right click, select get info, etc over and over for many songs. Why did the next option go away? It's wicked stupid and an inconvenience. I thought maybe it was a hidden menu now, and not automatic like other options (sidebar, the menu bar etc) but I have yet to find a solution to this. Any help please?? Editing music is so slow and tedious work now!
Also, while I'm at it, every time I open iTunes, I must re agree to terms and conditions, skip the walkthrough, and reauthorize my accounts EVERYTIME I boot up my computer and open iTunes. I mean--what the heck is with that?? And since it isn't fullscreen, when I hit maximize, it maxes to outside of my screen limits, so I can't see the scrollbar or the tops and sides of the screen to drag it to size. Try this and see if it resolves the issue.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Then try again.

What a very good question!
I was missing the Options tab as well and this solved the problem. After thinking about it: How could a shutdown signal find its way to the Computer through the video channel alone...?
This issue is not mentioned in the documentation.

How do I insert Greek characters from the character viewer in Lion?

In Lion, the Character Viewer shows many more options for different characters than SL. Of course, it displays Latin, but, as I scientist I often need to insert Greek characters, but I cannot find Greek characters in the Character Viewer. I don't otherwise need to select Greek as a language. Inserting Greek characters from some applications like MS Word still works.
And ... while I'm here ... what happened to the "insert" button? -j

Click the gear icon to edit your list:
Select Customize List:
and check "Greek"

Character Viewer in Lion?

When I opened Character Viewer in Snow-Leopard it brought up the Favorites window that was showing when I closed Character Viewer. In Lion the general window always appears and I have to switch to Favorites. I'm unable to discover how to fix this so the Favorites window appears when Character Viewer is opened. Has anyone a suggestion?

I have the same issue. Can't figure a way so that it remembers the last view. Provide Apple feedback.

I noticed the same thing. I found that if you cutomize the toolbar you can add a button to email this page and it only sends a link.

I am using 3.6.17 and can no longer figure out how to change my PDF viewer. On a previous system running with Firefox 2 I added Foxit as an alternative to Acrobat and want to do the same on this one.

What is Feeds and where has Applications gone?
Nowhere can I find any other method to change what software Firefox is using to open application files.
Mozilla Help has proven useless e.g. the information at
"http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing file types"
and

describe using Tools/Options/Applications but there is no Applications any more.
I've read the uses of about:config but nothing in the list seems relevant to PDFs.

Your issue with a missing Application tab can be caused by an extension or theme that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

What happened to zoom option? The new Mini Player

I mean why change things and don't tell you. And if it was Working why fix it!!! So now it requires two hands to minimize and expand the mini player? It was easy before one hand with controlcommandZ now it requires commandshiftM. How annoying!!! Does anybody else feels my pain or am i the only one we actually misses this. Like the AMAZING tabs in Safari 4 Beta.
AND is there a way to change it back to the ZOOM command option?

My mac is a 13 Inch. So any Screen Real Estate space is valuable thats why I need the mini player AND since the Safari Beta edition I do not use the tabs. It also steals space from my screen those 4 millimeters are precious. I mean multiple windows with multiple tabs.

What happened to the option "Mark as Unplayed"

I have been using a feature within the podcast section that allows one to reset the blue dot or reset the podcast as unplayed. In the past itunes versions this retained the play count while allowing itunes to sync unplayed podcasts to an ipod. With the release of iTunes 7.1.0.59 they change the option to "Mark as New" which reset the podcast as unplayed but also resets the play count. Does anyone know why they changed this? I used the old feature to allow me to track podcasts I repetitively listen to such as educational or exercise podcasts.

To me, the renaming seems a little awkward. "Mark as Not New" doesn't sound right to me; the wording just seems a little off grammatically. What was the reason for it, and was there not a better choice of words to use?

I just got a new mac OS 10.8.3 and newest firefox. I can't find the menus bar, I can't close it without force quiting, can't even tell what version I have. Everytime I try to use the arrows to change the view as suggested full screen makes it worse. I have researched the subject and tried recommended fixes like F10, optionF, etc. and nothing is working. Please help?

The menus have been ported to the top left corner, it says Firefox and has its icon, that is the new menu. If you dont like it and want the old one you have to.
# Right Click the tab bar
# Context menu should show
# Click "Menu Bar"
and you now have the menu back.

What happened to the option of importing from home sharing?

iTunes used to have this awesome option where if home sharing was turned on, you could import your songs to another computer on the network. It seems that they got rid of this option. I had to get a PC for work, and of course it's being ******** and won't allow my Mac to send files via bluetooth. That being said, without that old import option, I now have to re-upload all of my CDs and re-purchase songs from Bandcamp and other places that I have gotten my music from. I would rather not pay double for something I already own, and I don't even have all of my CDs anymore due to friends scratching them, family cracking them, etc. Apple, please fix this issue. My Mac is a laptop, so it's not like I can just have home sharing on 24/7.
