What happened to my battery life?

I installed Lion this morning (>8hrs ago) and the battery life is now terrible.  I am not using any new apps or anything differently than I did yesterday.  Any tips?

Have you tried calibrating your battery? I that doesn't help, try resetting the PMU.

  • IPhone 5 what happened to the battery!

Took my iPhone to the apple store as I was having an issue with the mic it was intermittently not picking up so they said the only thing they could do for now is put iOS 7 on my phone I have been holding back for weeks I really don't like the look of it but thought if it solves the issue then I will have to get over it, I use my iPhone as my satnav as well and when I went to the store I had around 85% plenty to do what I needed to do and get me home again with around 50% left is the usual for the length of drive however after driving home again It suddenly went down to 10% what happened to the battery life?? I can't walk around with a generator in my pocket to keep it charged I then made my usual phone call at night which lasted 2 1/2 hours and normally I would be looking around using 30% tonight I used almost 80%!

recalibrate the battery, let it completely drain out to where the phone shuts off and then fully charge it without using it.

  • Lost my iPod, remotely locked it through iCloud. What happens when the battery goes out?

    Hello!
I lost my Ipod, but managed to locate and lock it remotely through Find my iPod and iCloud. It was located once, but hasn't been located again in the last four days. I think the battery may have run out. What happens when the battery is charged and the iPod turned back on? Does the lock and everything else that can be controlled with Find my iPod still apply?
    Thank you!

Yes, because when you remotely lock the iPod via Find my iPod, the lock code is set as the lock code that you would use to unlock the iPod if you used a passcode normally. As long as the iPod is still connected to your Apple ID, Find my iPod should work as log as the iPod is connected to wifi.

What is the expected battery life in hours of a Macbook Air?   I have a 2012 model and it is only about 1 1/2 hours.

  • What happened to my battery power??

What is going on with my ipod touch's battery? I won't use it or turn it on for days, yet I'll turn it on and suddenly I'll have 10% battery life. I've read other suggestions about turning off wifi and turning off the push function and STILL my battery died. It died quicker, actually.
Why is it doing this? It didn't do this until the new update...

When you say "I won't use it or turn it on for days", do you mean you leave it asleep, ie you don't "power it off" with the red slider? If you don't power it off, then it is not off, it is in sleep mode. If you have wi-fi turned on or - even worse - push turned on, I can see how your power gets drained after a few days.
If it was only asleep overnight with these conditions and it drained to 10%, that would be a problem. I suggest, if you aren't using it often (heaven forbid!) you turn it off.

  • What is the average battery life supposed to be for the nano?

my battery lasts like 2-3 hours, which is way to short, how long does yours last?

Mine only lasted between 2 and 4 hours, but it was the way I used my nano. I search around a lot, use the backlight, skip songs and really do everything that is not good for battery life. What I finaly did was to put in a higher capacity battery. It really was not hard to do. My ipod nano was off warranty and I went ahead and did it and am so happy I did, I now get well over twice the life I used to and am very happy. My ipod video was still on warranty and I changed the battery to a higher capacity as well, because of the positive result from my nano. Go here to determin your real battery life and to see if it is in fact a bad battery. If it is and you are still under warranty then by all means take it to the apple store or go online for service. • What is the expected battery life for a battery in the MacBook Pro (Late 2007)?

I purchased a replacement battery from an Apple Retailer for my son's 17" MacBook Pro (Late 2007) in December 2009. Last week, he gets a "service battery" message and the battery won't hold a charge. Is this the best we can expect in terms of battery life? It was supposed to be an Apple Battery.

Has your son been calibrating the battery per the user manual schedule?  Has he been using the computer properly? According to the user manual it states in part:"Do not operate your MacBook Pro on a pillow or other soft material, as the material can block the airflow vents. Never place anything over the keyboard when operating your MacBook Pro. Never push objects into the ventilation openings."

  • I have the 13" Late 2011 Macbook Pro, What are the best Battery Life saver/increaser Techniques?

    Specs-
    2.4 Ghz Intel Core i5
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
    intel HD 3000 384 MB
How can I prevent My battery from degrading or atleast make the degrading slower
Can Ya tell me the steps or things to do?
I use my Mac a lot, like 6-15 hours everyday.
Someone told me I should keep it plugged with decharging it fully once a week.
    is it true?
    Can anything else be done?

You can use it on battery almost full time.  It will slowly discharge to about 95% on AC, but then recharge after dropping below 95%.  This is to save the use of the recharge circuits.
You should use it on battery only down to 40% at least once per month.  Running it to dead will shorten battery life, not help.
The battery is rated to 1000 cycles.  Two recharges from 50% to full is 1 cycle, 3 recharges from 33% to 100% is 1 cycle, etc ...
If you plan to store it unused for 3 months, discharge the batery to 50%, then remove from the MBP to preent the battery going down to 0.

  • What's with the battery life on this thing?

Okay...I've had my Mini for 18 months. Just yesterday...I charged it at work. Work day ends. I pop in the ear buds...turn it on (fully charged)...and the "low battery" message immediately flashes. I look at the battery "meter" and right before my eyes it goes from "full"...to "empty".
Then the thing shuts off! Tried it again today...and after several repeats...I finally got the thing to play (so far two songs...we'll see).
I can deal with the limited battery life...but the NO battery life thing...well...that's a problem.
Anybody else have this problem?...hear about this?...is there a battery/program flaw in the Mini?

  • What's with this battery life...?

    My current setup:
    3G enabled
    Wifi enabled
    Push disabled
    Bluetooth disabled
    My day started at 7.
I've made 3 phone calls that were all less than 5 minutes.
I've played games for a total of MAYBE 15 minutes (Aurora Feint and Trism).
    I've checked my email twice.
I've entered two transactions into the "Day Bank" app (takes about 10 seconds).
I get a mixture of EDGE and 3G. About 50/50.
The phone has been ON a total of maybe an hour the whole day.
By 2pm I had less than (it looked like) 40% of my battery life left. Can I expect this thing to be THIS bad forever? I know apple over-states their battery life stuff ridiculously all the time, but this is beyond ridiculous. At this rate I literally can't even make it through a SINGLE day on a charge. SOMETHING has got to give here...

I have great battery life with my iPhone 3G. Here's why.
I have push Enabled, and that's about it. I only turn 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth on when I need them. (When I'm in my car and need handsfree, when I'm out and about with no wifi readily available and need to use 3G, or when I'm at home and need to check my email, I'll turn on WiFi).
When I'm not using 3G, WiFi, or Bluetooth, I immediately turn them off.
There's no reason to have those things on if you're not regularly using them, they do consume massive amounts of power, which is why 3G wasn't included in the first generation iPhone.
Gas, electricity, and your iPhone battery all require CONSERVATION, CONSERVATION, CONSERVATION!

  • What the is the battery life of HP's G60-635DX laptop? No specs?

I just saw it on best buy, but there is no battery life listed, no specs on HP.com, no review on zd.net.....
Where are the specs for this model?
I have the G60-535dx, but I am a little disappointed with the battery life. I may want to upgrade, get a Sony, or get a 12 cell battery.

The batery life mainly depends on the 6 cell lithium or 9 cell and 12 cell and they mainly depends on the Notebook. Some of the Notebooks are compatible and some or not compatible,. The minimum life of the battery is 1 hour and maximum is 2 hours it is all based on your useage. If you want to increase the battery life I would request you to click on the below web link:

  • What happened to my battery?? Charges too fast - lasts 25min

I just bought the new 15in PB about a month ago. Everything has been working fine until now. The battery only gives me 25 min of power. I calibrated the battery over and over. When I charge the battery, it one, charges way too fast, and two, for example, I have 43% of life left and it says I have 10min left. I take it this is a software problem. If anybody knows how to help me, please do. Thanks so much.

How about this. I had the exac same thing happen on my new PB after a few weeks of use. I tried the PMU reset twice last night to no avail. I recharged my battery over night, this morning I disconnected the power adapter and sure enough she started to drain right before my eyes. In 20 min she was empty and shut down. I left her off packed the Pb in my bag and went to work intending to call apple care and arrange for a replacement battery. I called Apple went through the regular stuff, obtained a number and was instructed to head into the nearest apple store for replacement battery. I had read someone that I should check my Pb with another battery, so I borrowed my work collegues PB, last generation, and swapped batteries, Ok his battery in my PB was great, System profiler showed that his battery had a full charge capacity of some 4000 mAh's. I then checked my battery in his PB and his system profiler showed mine as having a charge of some 4500 mAh's! before my battery in my PB showed only some 300mAh's. I reinstalled my battery into my PB and for some reason it now shows a full charge as 4451mAh's and it's acting correctly too. nw down to about 57% of charge after a few hours. I'll have to watch this over the next few days.
