What happened to my iCloud notes?

Yesterday night I was on skype with someone while writing notes on my Mac via iCloud.com. I scrolled a bit to look at some other notes and when I scrolled back up my most recent note was completely gone. It completely disappeared from my phone as well. I have my phone set to icloud as the default account and of course icloud doesn't save the notes in an email. I had to switch from Yahoo because the same vanishing note issue happened there except on my phone. I never deleted it or changed anything, it simply vanished before my eyes. I use this app very frequently because it is convenient and good for keeping track of a lot of things, but I am getting fed up since I have problems with it all the time. Why does Apple continue to peddle such broken software?

Everything that was on your classic should also have been in your library, and that backed up to another drive. If you manually managed the device, and it was the only location holding your playlists, and it has become corrupted, there really isn't much hope. See Corrupt iPod classic. There may be a chance to recover media stored on it if is isn't stored elsewhere.

You can undo your permission changes. Probably the most relevant one is cookies. Try one or both of these methods:
(1) Page Info > Permissions tab
While viewing a page on the site:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Permissions
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Permissions
(2) about:permissions
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' and press Enter. Allow a few moments for the list on the left to populate, as this information needs to be extracted from a database.
Then type or paste ''rcn''' in the search box above the list to filter it to the most relevant domains. When you highlight a domain, you can adjust its permissions in the right pane.

I went to look at some info I had on my Notes app and I noticed their gone. I tried looking for them on iTunes somewhere but found them no where. Anyone knows what may have happen?

Don't know what happened, but iTunes doesn't store notes. You can sync notes between your iPhone and a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process or with an Apple iCloud account.

Sounds like you did not delete the iCloud account on your device before you changed your ID. You will need to do the following:
1.     Sign onto Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the old ID (this is temporary - do not verify it, do not change the password): Apple - My Apple ID
2.     Go to Settings>iCloud and scroll to the bottom to delete the account. Use your current password when asked, follow the prompts to complete the deletion
3.     Go back into Manage your Apple ID and change your Apple ID back to the new ID (you may need to verify it again)
4.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign onto iCloud with the new ID

What happened to my iCloud documents? They were there yesterday but gone today.

I opened pages to get my school work and my iCloud folders were empty. The I signed into iCloud and when I clicked pages it said I had to sign up for iCloud Drive, which is only compatible with Yosemite.
I need my files. I saved them in the cloud for protection and now they are gone.

Monte, did you enable iCloud Drive on an iPhone or iPad after updating to iOS8? Or what happened?
In MacOSX 10.9.4 your Pages documents should be stored in your user Library folder. Click your Desktop to bring the Finder forward, then use the "Go" menu in the Finder. Hold down the options key (or alt key),while you select "GO", until you see "Library in the drop down menu. Open the "Library " folder.
In the Library window navigate to the folder "Application Support", and inside this folder to "MobileSync". Here you should find subfolder for "Pages" etc.
If the MobileSync folder should be missing, or you are seeing documents with "loading" bars, restore this folder from your Time Machine backup.

First to begin - I am a big iCloud fan. When it's working, nothing beats it
And then, then there are days like today
Although the support site for iCloud tells me clearly, that there are no reported problems with iCloud at this time - I cannot load for instance Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes - consistently over some hours - and yes, I have reported this to Apple - consistently - over the last few hours.
One asks oneself how long the site takes to register problems.
Additionally accessing Apple support sites (including this one) has proved incredibly slow this evening - as if the problem were a more general one ( ? )
The most frustrating aspect of iCloud downtime for me is, that when I make changes in "Contacts" and sometimes in "Calendar" on my computer - they are sometimes not saved when iCloud is down.
It is a pattern I have noticed repeatedly over the last year.
Can anyone suggest ways to ensure this does not happen - there being no "save" function in "Contacts" or in "Calendar"
(would this not perhaps be a useful addition ? - particularly at the times that the iCloud is down)

Welcome to the Apple Community.
First check that all your settings are correct, that reminders syncing (calendars on a computer) is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
Make sure the reminders you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' account and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud account (you can do this by checking in accounts on an iOS device by tapping the icon with three lines in the top left corner of the screen, or the right side panel by clicking on the small triangle to the right of the word 'Reminders' in iCal on a computer), non iCloud reminders will not sync.
If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your reminders are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking reminders syncing (calendars syncing on a computer) in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling notes syncing.

My iCloud's nearly at its 5GB capacity, what happens to my iCloud email account when it is?

I have two handheld devices synced to my iCloud account and my iCloud email address.
Between the three of them they are nearly 5GB.
So my query is, what's the scenario when the combined total goes over 5GB and I can't afford to give apple more money on a monthly basis for more storage space?
Obviously I can easily create another account for to sync my handhelds too, but I don't want to get to the point where apple stops me from receiving / sending any more email because I'm over my storage cap! If this is going to happen it makes sense for me to switch email accounts asap!
(I should explain my work means I get sent > 200 emails a day most of which have hi res emails and some of which have mp3s attached so it wont be too long to hammering on the 5GB door max door!)

The only way I can free a few GB is by deleting emails which...
a) I don't want to do as I'm forever needing to refer back to old emails and ...
b) would take ages and...
c) would only be a temporary measure anyway as I have new mail coming in at such a galloping rate!
So I guess my options are to go back to Gmail or throw some ££s in Apple's direction.
Never thought of Apple equivalent to a drug dealer, but here they are having got you dependent on something by giving you years of free access to it, then they suddenly withdraw said service once you're well and truly addicted and tell you you can only have more if you pay them!
Apple have well and truly caught me hook line and sinker with this one! Cant believe I didn't see this coming! Gaaah!

What happened to my Synching Notes

I can write notes on my iPhone and they used to show on my desktop in the mail program. I've checked to have them synch but on my newly set up iMac 27 inch I don't see the notes and don't know where to find them. Any ideas?

Oh I see. I don't use Gmail and don't know how that works with Notes. I thought you were having issues with Notes only where you were inputing text in Notes on your iPhone and it wasn't syncing across to your iMac's Notes.
If you sign out of your iCloud account on your iMac, you may see the various screens to delete off your Mac or save. As long as you are using iCloud for your Contacts, Calendar, Notes, Reminders, etc. you won't lose anything. You're simply deleting anything that you kept "On My Mac" and not in iCloud. So, when you sign back into iCloud from your iMac, everything in iCloud will come back down and sync with your iMac.

If your system is not one of the ones listed here:

then there's nothing you can do to get and install Mountain Lion. If your system is one of those listed, you need to have Mac OS X 10.6.8 or Mac OS X 10.7 to be able to buy and install Mountain Lion. You cannot upgrade from Mac OS X 10.5.2 which is the OS version shown in your profile.

What happened to the "command not found" hook?

Since pkgfile has been split off from pkgtools, the "command not found" hook doesn't work anymore. Has it been removed, or does it need to be configured in some other way now?

pkgfile is now what used to be known as nosr.
The hooks (both for zsh and bash) exist in /usr/share/doc/pkgfile/.
EDIT: that's in the AUR -git package. In the community/ package, they don't exist (as of ver. 1-2).

The option to update OTA did not become available until iOS5. You will need to connect the phone to the computer and iTunes and update in that method.

What happens if I do not pay the reconnect fee?

If my bill is behind and they cut off the phone service, can I pay what I owe but Opt out of the reconnect fee? And what happensif I do not pay the reconnect fee? Does the contract void itself or ill they end up charging me the disconnect fee?

What happened to my sticky notes in preview?

I spent a lot of time adding comments to a pdf file. I used Preview. Now when I go to the document, all of the yellow squares are there, but there is no content inside. In fact, when I double click on the sticky notes, the boxes don't even open. But if I click on Annotate in the toolbar and click on the yellow box, it opens, but it's blank.
I put in a lot of work on the two documents and now it's all gone. It's the first time I've ever tried doing comments in Preview (I've always used Adobe Reader and never had a problem. I've been trying to stick with the Mac OS tools instead of downloading readers and such, but now I'm having second thoughts about this.
Normally I would do tracking in Word for comments/corrections like this, but I had to work with a pdf because the original document was generated in Pages and I can't seem to open Pages.
Are my comments lost forever?

Good to know. Thanks for replying. It would never have occurred to me to press the option key. Seems weird that they "hid" the solution when it would've been so easy to just include it in the regular menu as they do in all other programs. Equally weird that the Export as PDF function isn't working (it saves the little yellow boxes, but erases their contents).
