It's gone and I can't sync it?
Does this have something to do with iCloud?

MobileMe terminated on 1 July and it has not been possible to mount the iDisk on your Desktop nor sync it since then. Its contents have now been deleted.
If you were running 'iDisk Syncing' then you should go to System Preferences>MobileMe>iDisk and turn it off; and to the Sync pane and stop any syncing which is running; then go to the Account pane and sign out, removing your username and password. This is to prevent error messages arising from an inability to contact the server.
If you were running iDisk Syncing you may be able to locate the disk image which constituted the local copy. This lives in (user)/Library/FileSync unless you have found a folder on your Desktop called 'previous local iDisk for....' which would contain it. If you open this image you should find that it contains a copy of the contents of your iDisk at the time of the last sync.
iCloud does not provide an equivalent service. If you want online file storage you will need to find an alternative - this page examines some options:

    Just to be clear, there are no 'migrated files'. If you migrate, the iDisk remains untouched and accessible exactly as before (though you may need to sign in at System Preferences>MobileMe again). Whether or not you migrate, the iDisk will be teminated at the end of June and its contents erased.
    iCloud does not provide any equivalent facility, so you will need to find a third-party solution. This page examines some options:

    Many third party applications (and some Apple ones) may need updates for SL (Adobe particularly) and definitely will for Lion/Mountain Lion, so check with the vendors for compatability before you upgrade.
    Also, while most legacy PPC apps that run in Leopard will also run in SL under Rosetta, they won't run at all in Lion/ML as Rosetta support has been dropped. That may include drivers for some older peripherals as well as apps like Appleworks or Office 2004 or earlier and many Adobe apps.
    For what it's worth, I'd go to 10.6.8 and try the printer. If it works OK, stay there until you have a chance to try the newer OS on someone elses computer. It's not for everyone, as may be attested by the number of requests for info on rolling back to SL.

    Try using the Chrome Browser instead.
    Besides Chrome, there might be a Safari workaround...
    From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
    Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
    Then from the Safari menu click Develop > User Agent then try IE 10, 9, etc.

    Hello, you should be able to if they're running the same version of Word.
    When you log into the Desktop for File Sharing from the MBP, use the Desktop's Username & Desktop's Password, & vice versa if logging into the MBP from the Desktop.

    Do you mean you want to import a photo to the organizer? It's easier if you put the photo where you want to keep it before importing, but just go to File>Get Photos>From Files and Folders and import it. If you move it after importing you  must move it in folder view in the origanizer.
    If you just want to edit the photo, there's no need to import it. Just go to File>Open in the editor.

    For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from email/websites then see this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 (iPhoto or Aperture should detect them)
    If you want to copy back photos that were originally synced from a computer then you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer (which has a free lite version called Simple Photo & Video Transfer) which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

    Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
    *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

    Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
    (Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
    If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
    If 10.7.0 or later...
    Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partitirion & use Disk Utility from there.

    1 Can this feature be disabled, or locked from being used on individual machines?

    3 How does it handle encrypted secondary drives?
    4 If you have the main drive encrypted (File Vault 2), what happens?
    5 And if you don't?
    6 Under what circumstances, if any, can a "wiped" machine be "unwiped"?
    My expectations (I have NOT confirmed any of this) are as follows:
    1 Cannot be disabled either in iCloud or on the machine. Enabling "Find My Mac" allows location, locking, and, of course, wiping
    2 Does not erase secondary drives (non-OS). 
    3 encrypted secondary drives likewise untouched, but by nature of being encrypted, are safe.
    4 If file vault is enabled, it disables ability for ANY authorized user to log in, making it impossible for anyone to recover the encrypted data. This is like a lock, but requires the Key, not just a PIN.
    5 Wipes the whole main disk if not encrypted?
    6 Under the circumstance that File Vault was enabled, the data is still there. The only way to recover it would be to use the Key you received upon enabling File Vault (possibly stored with Apple).  If File Vault was not enabled, at least the primary drive is all gone.
    Part of my apprehension about enabling it is that if it's irreversible, a hacked iCloud account could go from a horrible experience to catastrophic.
    Does anyone have answers, or links to documentation answering these questions?
