What happened to my lion server software

Within the last year I dowload Lion Server Software, now I have Mountain Lion 1.81, but the Lion Server software doesn't work?

You need to upgrade and buy Mountain Lion Server from the app store for $20.

What's the best FTP server software for Mac OS X Server?
We have looked at a few different applications out there (Rumpus, CrushFTP, etc...) and are wondering what the community feels.
Apples built -in isn't robust enough. We do need some advanced features (reporting, SFTP, a web interface would be nice etc...).
    Opinions?

    Hi
For me it has to be RumpusFTP Server:
    http://www.maxum.com/Rumpus/
It has a secure web interface - no need to open ports 20, 21. No need for dedicated FTP client software for uploading and downloading. Supports the most commonly used browsers. Multi-platform support and can be installed on a standard client OS.

  • What happened to my Lion Wallpaper?

I have Lion 10.7 and was using the new wallpapers. Now, my desktop wallpaper has reverted back to the Snow Leopard wallpapers I was using before installing Lion.  When I go to the System Preferences to change the wallpaper back, I'm only presented the SL wallpapers.  No Lion wallpapers exist anymore.  What happened to these and how do I get them back???

    Hi folks,
In a scenario like IDOC to FILE or any other to FILE , for any reasons FTP server was down or replaced. Then what happens to the messages ( with quality of service EO r EOIO). What is the status of messages.
If the FTP server has been changed then those details has to be entered in SLD.?

to add to this, if you are using EOIO you will have to restart the first message in the queue before others so that the processing can continue.
In short, either EO or EOIO, the messages will be persisted in PI. you can always manually resend them.

  • 10.7.5 lion server software update failed - whats the cause?

    Hi all,
I applied the software update for 10.7.5 to my Mac Mini Server, but it looks like it didn't apply correctly.
Server Admin and Server are unable to connect in order to manage system services, Software Update is not able to identify the packages on the machine and therefore gets hungup when it starts.  System services that were working prior to update are now failing (vpnd, webdav).
The system identifies itself as being on 10.7.5, but I believe a number of packages were not upgraded.  For example, the Server and Server Admin tools are showing the same modify times as before the update.  This seems to be confirmed by system.log.
Any ideas how I can get the packages applied?
In system.log, the following entries were added from the time the update was applied:

I've done some more digging and it looks like the three packages included in the update have about 4000 files that didn't get installed.  A good number of them are .png or .icns files, but there are whole applications (e.g. VNCServer) that didn't get updated.
The system is currently in a state where it cannot install software via Software Update or via Installer.
    Any ideas?

  • What happens if i use a software other than itunes to transfer music?

    Hello people,
Im new to apple and its softwares, tricks..etc.
So the question is i purchased some stuff from itunes i would like to have in phone and i also have loads of music in my pc that were taken from old cds etc...after my research i noticed there is a itune match or someting that can allow you do that with a 25$/year cost which i agree is not much and  i might end up doing it  but i don't find it right to NOT HAVE FULL control over my stuff...so is there anyway to be able to transfer these old songs into iphone without using itunes without any risk or problem?

    Nothing.
There are a couple of programs that kinda work...

  • Format my MacBook. What happens to Mountain Lion?

    Dear all,
I think it's time to format my MacBook Pro. It came with OS X Lion, but when Mountain Lion came out I upgraded (and payed for it). Now, if I format my MacBook without DVD, through recovery disk will I be able to get Mountain Lion again? Or do I have to pay for it again?
Sorry if it's a simple question, but I've tried the web and nothing helped.
    Thanks in advance

I have hardly ever found a valid reason to reformat a drive in a Mac unless you are selling it.
What do you think you are going to gain by doing that.
I am running on an image that was originally Snow Leopard. It was then upgraded to Lion which was upgrade to Mountain Lion. I am having no problem even with three upgrades.

  • What is the best mail server software, compatible with G5 and OS X 10.5.8?

    Hello.
    I want to install/set up a mailserver on Mac OS X 10.5.8.
It will host approximately 35users, should have pop, imap, spam protection, webmail/admin interface, routing feature, all the usual stuff, I'm doing this because we often have to recieve very large files and having a mailserver on local network makes working with them so much faster. What would you recommend?
    Thanks in advance.

There isn't enough data in your post to create an informed answer.
For one, are you talking Mac OS X client, or Server?
Mac OS X Server already includes all the various mail server components you talk about, and it's based on Postfix, one of the most popular open source mail servers around.
Secondly, having your own mail server will only be 'so much faster' for local users sending/receiving local mail (i.e. from users on the same network). Every other email has to go out (or come in) over your office internet connection and having your own mail server doesn't change that one bit.
At that point, if you're only talking local users, it sounds like what you want is a file server, not a mail server. Mail is not designed for large file transfers.
Third, even if you don't want Mac OS X Server's solution, and you can deal with the bandwidth, you haven't mentioned cost - what's your budget here. You won't find a free/open source solution that's more complete and easier to use than Apple's bundle, so now you're into the commerical offerings. All of them charge, typically per user and some of them (as already mentioned) are mothballing their PPC support, meaning any invenstment in their option might be short-lived.
So I think you need to better state your goals and ideals before you can find the 'best' solution (if any of them are really 'better' than any other).

  • What happens if Domain Controller server authentication certificate expires?

    Dear People,
We have got two Domain controller servers and accordingly two Azman servers. we
have got two certificates issued for each Domain controllers to our two Azman servers. Both these certificates are going to expire in next few days. We have few Web
& Desktop applications for which we authorize a large pool of users with the help of these two Azman servers.
Now, Issue is, Domain Controller certificates are going to expire soon on both Azman servers. Can somebody tell me, what could be impact of expiration of these certificates?
will all the application be down after that? Should I must go for renewal of certificates? Please help me as soon as possible otherwise I will be in big trouble. Thanks.

    Hi,
Based on my research, Domain Controller Authentication certificate is used for client authentication, server authentication and smart card logon.
You need to renew the certificates before they expire, otherwise problems about smart card logon and SSL connection will occur.
    More information for you:

  • What happens to encrypted data when the server is destroyed?

Backups to tape are encrypted with a certificate.
But what happens if the backup server is destroyed? Do I lose all the backup data on those tapes?
Can I backup the certificate or is it specific to that specific DPM server?
In the case of a catastrophic datacenter failure, where everything is lost except the tapes and the certificate, what is the process for recovering the encrypted data?

You can absolutely backup the certificates used for DPM encryption and you should store those somewhere safe (for example, burn to CD and put in a fireproof safe offsite somewhere secure in an encrypted file).
This section of TechNet describes the process: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj628058.aspx
If you had to recreate a DPM server to read the tapes then you'd need to the certificates in the correct certificate store on the DPM server, in addition you'd need to ensure you had the certificates for the certificate chain, if there is one, in the correct
    locations in the cert store.
Once a cert expires, do not delete it from the DPM until all the tapes that have used that cert are no longer in use or have been overwritten.
The data would need to be imported through the recovery section in DPM but you'd be able to read and recover the data if the certs were present. No cert = no recovery.

    and
Syntax error on line 288 of /etc/swupd/swupd.conf:
    DocumentRoot must be a directory
The offending script is in the apple support document which I copy and pasted.

    Just fixed this myself.
SWUPD is expecting a directory within the one you chose, called "html".
    Example: /Volumes/XSAN/SWUPD/html
It will not create "html" if the directory doesn't exist.
Create the folder "html" then in terminal do this:
    sudo chown -R _softwareupdate:_softwareupdate /path/to/the/folder
    Example: sudo chown -R _softwareupdate:_softwareupate /Volumes/XSAN/SWUPD
##do not include/html. the -R means recursive and forces the same ownership on all contained directories.

  • Battery replacement process.  What happens to paid software update?

I have an appointment at my local apple store this afternoon to look at my battery. I think it has seriously started to drain and it's still under the 1 year warranty.
My understanding is that they actually send you a refurbished ipod and not the one you necessarily bring in for battery replacement. I've started to "wipe" my ipod touch of info but I'm wondering what happens to the ipod touch software update that I had to pay to receive...that update from a while back.
Will I have any problems? Does that reside on the mac and follow any ipod touch i plug in?
    Thx.

It resides on your Mac, if you get a replacement when you set it up and load from your backup on your computer.
