Firefox shows up on my dock and when I open it there is no menu bar or tool bar. What happened to them? Where are they?

Yes, they made it able to start a "private Window"...
But does it WORK?
I noticed that in v20, Firefox send cookies that were set before the "private Window" was opened.
This means NO PRIVACY !!!
A site you visit in your "New Private Window" will ID you by the cookies it has set in the past.
Privacy is gone... bye bye ...
Of course one can manually delete the cookies for a certain domain.... but why would i want to go through all this work...
I hope it's fixed.
And if it's not fixed.. it will be bye bye Firefox ... terrible choice.

Help! What happened to my menu bar?

My old imac has been getting sluggish. Today I turned it on and all the right hand side items on my menu bar are gone, including the clock, airport settings, volume, all of it *pffft*.
I immediately hit restart, no changes but it was very sloooow. Shut down, walked away to think about it, couldn't come up with anything. Started it up again and I still have nothing on the right side of the menu. Everything still works okay but no items on right side of menu except the Spotlight.

Lost my ability to control what appears on the menu bar

When I upgraded from 10.8 to 10.8.2, I lost my ability to control what appears in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
For example, Time Machine no longer shows there. When I open the system preferences and check the box that says "Show Time Machine in menu bar", the check mark appears briefly, then disappears. It will disappear as many times as I check it. I tried reinstalling Mountain Lion. When system 10.8 was installed, the menu bar worked. When I repeated the upgrade to 10.8.2, it quit working again.
Any ideas?

Only the song/album/artist info is displayed on the "now playing" screen.
As for lyrics, play any song to which you've added lyrics. Then press the centre button repeatedly until the lyrics appear.

What happened to the scroll bar in version 11?

I have thousands of songs but besides that I like to listen to an audio bible. I use to be able to scroll up and down very quickly to find what I wanted but now I have to scroll using mouse wheel which is tiresome and ridiculous.Am I just not getting something or was a simple scroll function overlooked?

Try this maybe it solves your question:
Try this to bring back the "old" iTunes view
Ctrl + / brings back the status bar
Ctrl + s brings back the Side Bar
Ctrl + B brings the Menu Bar back.
Other handy shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + B it will bring back the column browser.
All these keys are under the View menu option

in step 3 of the soft reset process for the time capsule it says open the airport menu bar item. What is that?

Help with international settings - the menu bar flag is gone!

The flag no longer appears in my menu bar, nor does the "show input menu in the menu bar" check box in the international section of the System Preferences stay checked. I no longer seem able to type in Chinese, which is what I really need to be able to do.

Now for solving your problem! When did this start happening? Have you tried a bit of maintenance, like:
Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two.

If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

Menu bar icons are gone

Since the security update my menu bar icons have dissappeared. I have tried repairing and verifying disc permissions. I have looked for a preference file but have not been ale to find one. Fast user switching, Time and date, Aiport status, Spotlight, have all dissapeared, However, Salling Clicker still shows up.

Well, I think my problem was the same as it is every time I upgrade. I have disabled Spotlight in the menubar by renaming /System/Library/CoreServices/Search.bundle (thereby hiding it from the system). Once I did this again (sudo mv /System/Library/CoreServices/Search.bundle /System/Library/CoreServices/Search.bundle.10411) I was able to get all of the items back.

What happened to Aurora Feint? It accidentally got deleted when I tried syncing my iPhone with iTunes. Now, when I try to reinstall it, iTunes says it is no longer available. No explanation. And no more website either. It was a hugely popular free game that had a lot of buzz.
Now it has disappeared? I am so disappointed. I wonder what gives?

Nothing was ever saved on the server in the first place - so there was nothing for a hacker to steal. The only time data was vulnerable was during the transport, when it could have been susceptible to a packet sniffer, and we already know that this did not happen. No personal data was compromised.
In any event, Apple has put the updated game back up on the app store, and is endorsing it in their "What We're Playing" section. The devs sent out an annoucement on their forum, and I've copied part of it here:
"Now, here's some even cooler news. We've heard you guys loud and clear. We are removing contact list integration from Aurora Feint. Early next week we're going to put out another update which will use a system similar to Nintendo's friend codes but less of a hassle. So, once we get that out, there will be no personal data pulled from your phone at all.
In the mean time, remember these things:
1) We do not pull data from your contact list before notifying you. There is now a notification in-game when this is done. And it is only done on the community page by YOU pressing the submit button.
2) We never store your contact list on our web server.
3) All data sent over the wire is now completely encrypted.
4) No contact data is saved on your phone's hard drive anymore. This has been removed.

In the meantime, yes I downloaded the new version as soon as I heard it was up - and it's so much better! A lot of bugs were fixed, and I highly encourage everyone to try it out at least once. You don't have to use the online feature at all if you don't want to. Have fun!

How do I enable some scripts to run in some programs/websites and what happened to the status bar of my Mozilla Firefox 4?

Well, first of all, I was tying to create a web-based computer game in Notepad in H.T.M.L., C++, and JavaScript codes. But when I tried to open the completed product, Firefox only came up with a blank page. What do I do with this? And also, I unwittingly removed the "Status Bar" on the bottom side of my browser(the one that always says "Transferring data from/to..."), and when I tried to bring it back up, I couldn't because I don't know how, since I'm new to Mozilla Firefox 4. If you could help me with these problems, Then I would greatly appreciate it.

You can install the Status-4-Evar extension to regain some functionality from previous Firefox versions that was lost with the removal of the Status bar.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" after you have installed the Status-4-Evar extension and drag the items (Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status) upon the Add-ons Bar (View > Toolbars > [X] Add-on Bar)<br />

What happened to the menu?

Hi everybody
I am not sure what I did wrong, but I burned a imported 60 photo slideshow from iphoto to iDVD, choose a travel theme from the iDVD menu, dropped in the photos, etc, set the DVD to loop, but the burned DVD when inserted just started right up with the slideshow, no "Travel Theme" opening menu.
Any ideas?

Is it possible you dragged a QT file into autoplay while in map view? That would cause it to play on its own once the DVD is inserted to the DVD Player.

What happened to my URL bar in Safari?

How do I get back my URL bar? I allowed auto updates today and found out after the update that Safari now bundles search and url in one bar. Hate it. Can I revert to the old preference?

You can get the URL bar back from the menu , View, Show Toolbar. (at least in Safari 5.1.7)

What happened to the scroll bars?

Apple has gone and made yet another infuriating change to one of their crucial applications, i.e., Finder. They have changed it so that you do not see the scroll bar at the right edge except when you first open the window or move the right edge, or scroll with the mouse. Then and only then do you even see the scroll bar. The did the same thing with the Preview, and here it is perfectly obvious that this is a really dumb idea. You have a vertical colum of icons on the left, and a picture on the right. If you set your mouse scrolling to work well for one, it does not work at all well for the other. This is a fact. Reliance on the scroll wheel just doesn't work. They perhaps thought that everyone should be using their mice with touch sensitive surface. Perhaps there isn't a problem in that case, but it isn't an excuse, because not everyon likes the Apple mice. I don't like them at all. One of them has sharp edges, and there is something else wrong with the other one. I use only generic mice, and see no reason not to. AND, I am incensed at them once again for doing something that is just plain idiotic. I reiterate: it is just plain idiotic for them to have done this, and this is exactly the sort of thing that Apple does as a matter of recourse. They have got the idea in their collective mind that their purpose in life is to dictate to everyone else how to interact with a computer. It is an extraordinary degree of hubris, far beyond what I can tolerate. APPLE, PUT THE DAMNED SCROLL BARS BACK, YOU HORSE'S A$$ES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to the Scroll Bars in Adobe Reader 11.0.09

The help file (such as it is) says "Use the vertical scroll bars to move up and down the pages or the horizontal scroll bars to move across the page." BUT THERE AREN'T ANY SCROLL BARS. I have gone all through the menus and cannot find any way to display the scroll bars. They always used to be there when the page extended beyond the screen, but now they are gone. The alternative of trying to use the hand tool to grab and drag a page is awkward at best.

Don't assume people automatically know all your technical terms! Before you talk about, e.g., "status bar", it would be really helpful to show or tell us WHERE IT IS.
