What happened to my start page

Apparently my computer updated itself overnight, when I started to work this morning, I have no foxfire. Instead I have a screen that tells me I have a new version and I have to sign in all over again and create a new account. This is unwelcome. I need to work this morning, not play with getting to know a new version.

When Firefox updates, it usually opens a second tab about the update. If you close the tab, your home page should be behind it (or next to it, as the case may be). Or you can close the window and open a new one.

What is the Firefox start page looking for when it tells me I'm not using the most current version and need to update Firefox? The check for updates button says my version is up to date, but the start page disagrees. Is there a setting I need to adjust?

Okay: My start page is the one Google provides: http://www.google.ca/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official and frequently it has a note underneath the search box that "You're not on the latest version of Firefox. Upgrade today to get the best of the Web!" But when I check for updates on the About Firefox window, it says my Firefox is up to date. So what is the start page looking for? Is there some setting I need to adjust? Or is this a Google marketing ploy to get me to switch to Chrome?

I tentatively think I have the solution; this is for when the session id value 'thing', in about:config, referred to in other answers is already on the default/rest state.
I am assuming, I don't what to imply certainty in-case there is a value wrong in our browsers, that the problem stems from the fact that our homepage is no longer the default for Firefox.
So, go to 'Options'>'General' and delete the homepage. This will reset it to the new address, which is 'about:home'.
I hope this helps some people.

What happens if Channel started but inactive?

Hi.
While monitoring the training server, i found there are 100 channels with yellow color status "Channel started but inactive".
All these channels are not SOAP or MAIL channels. Most are FILE, JDBC, JMS channels.
I know that we can stop the channels in RWB but what happens if these channels are kept with that yellow status? If i stop these channels will it improve the performance??
Kindly let me know how it will effect the performance.

What happened to my login page after display sleep?

I'm not sure what happened but whenever my display goes to sleep and I click the trackpad to turn it back on, a dialog box shows up asking for my password. Prior to two days ago, when I woke the display the login screen would pop up with my user icon (just like the initial login screen, but without Guest), but now it's just the dialog box with a black screen. Anyone have any idea how this happened, or how to get it back to the way it was? I'm running OSX 10.8.4.

Okay. I am still convinced a firmware password. Safe mode wouldn't be a surefire test of this, I was wrong...this would be a test for open firmware password (applicable to machine up to 2010), not EFI password (2011 +). Try Booting into Recovery Mode (command + R) or hold down option at start and select the recovery partition. Are you prompted for a password? If so, there is a fimrware password set and only Apple would be able to unlock your machine. If not, I am out of suggestions. Please test and reply. Thanks.

What happened to the reload page icon?

What happened to the reload icon that used to appear at the upper left of the screen? Doing a right mouse click and then clicking on the drop down menu is very cumbersome. I need to refresh screens very often to get current real time activity. How can I restore this icon?

The screen reload icon is usually in the address bar (the big white bar at the top of your screen with http:// or www. in it) at the right hand side. What happens after player starts

Hello,
When a JMF player is started, what exactly happens? I presume it reads a particular number of frames from the video into some internal buffer and then display them on the screen depending on the frame rate.
What is the correct mechanism?
Also what is the size of this buffer by default?

What happened to my opening page with links to my most frequently used websites which I use to get onto a Wordpress Dashboard in one click!!!!!!!

My normal Firefox opening page has disappeared. I is a page with about 12 webpages in small windows which are links to my frequently used sites. Some of them are Wordpress Administrative pages and I need them to access my websites. How do I get this page back?
Another change is the persistent presence of Ask.com on every search window. Where did that come from? I don'[t want or use Ask.com. Is this something that Mozilla added in? If so, it is a bad idea. I use Google for search and want my familiar Firefox opening page back on opening of Firefox.

Thank You! I went to the link you sent and reset Firefox. Yippee, that is exactly correct. I believe it happened when I used the Chrome Browser one time. Won't be doing that again.

What happened to "bookmark this page" selection in the "show your bookmarks" menu on the right?

Now I have to:
1) click again on the stupid blue star to get the menu to place my new bookmark where I choose to instead of have it go to unsorted bookmarks...
OR
2) bring up or have up the menu bar and click on the "bookmarks" menu choice of "bookmark this page" which brings up what I'd call the choice or sort menu that lets me access my bookmarks menu...
...where I wanted to go to create a bookmark AND I get to select "choose", which is what I used to do when adding ANY bookmark.
I want the "bookmark this page" selection back on the "show your bookmarks" list on the right...where it belongs. Why does everyone want to keep hiding the useful tools?
Firefox 29 stinks and I've had nothing but problems from the beginning...and since making the mistake of resetting.
I now have a folder of stuff that I have no clue what to do with as, upon resetting, I got "Oooops this is embarrassing, we're having a problem" or something. Any clues about what to do with all that "junk" (now, to me) might also be helpful.

I was used to being able to select the folder to place my bookmark without going into an edit session. This is as useless now as windows "libraries"

What happened to the multiple pages in templates for Pages 5.5.1?

Since upgrading to Yosemite, the Pages templates only are showing 2 pages of pre-designed text and pictures, whereas prior to the upgrade, I would have 6 pages of options per template chosen. Am I missing something, or did Apple do away with these extra designed pages for templates?
Please note - I'm not referring to how many template options are available, but rather once I select a template (for example, the Journal template under newsletter), there are only 2 pages with space holders for pictures and text.

The change happened with Pages 5 13 months ago.
Pages 5 has much fewer features (over 100 are missing) and can no longer use the multiple internal layouts.
Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder, use that.

For your first issue of missing Start menu, please check this settings:
Right click the taskbar and choose Properties.
Under Start Menu tab, please make sure that the option “Use the start menu installed of Start screen” is checked on:
For your second issue that Windows store fail to connect to internet, please follow these steps to see what’s going on:
Method 1: Use Microsoft’s Troubleshooter
To address this issue, Microsoft has come up with an instant troubleshooter that automatically detects problematic identities and fixes them on the spot. To download this tool,
visit the address and follow the wizard accordingly:
If running the troubleshooter did not help your case, try working through the following solutions.
Method 2: Disable Proxy Connection
Proxy server acts as an intermediate between your system and the outside world. This can often mess up the internet routes and block certain accesses. To disable this setting, execute this procedure:
Open Internet      Explorer
Click the gears      icon displayed at the top right and choose

Navigate to Connections      tab
Open LAN settings

In version 3.6 the Recent Pages was located to the right of the Browse Forward and Back arrows. Where is it in version 4.0?

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.

Welcome to the Apple community.
You should still be able to publish to MobileMe via iWeb, I'm not sure why you can't do that. However MobileMe will be withdrawn on June 30, 2012, you should find a another host for your webpages by then. You can continue to use iWeb to create and edit your pages that you use with a third-party host, but you will not be able to use them with MobileMe after June.
