What happened to my vocal track?

I've been working on my first project using LP8 (migrating from DP5). The other night, I completed a vocal track which took me several overdubs to complete. Afterwards, I used Antares Autotune 5 in manual edit mode to touch-up a few pitch issues. Everything was working great. I saved the project and shut down for the night.
Last night, I opened to project to do some more work and it appers that my vocal track is corrupted. Everything plays fine up to the first punched-in portion of the audio track and from that point on my vocal is out of sync with all of the other tracks. A) It wasn't like this when I saved it the other night. B) There also appears to be a sync isseue with Autotune, becuase it is doing the corrections in the wrong locations as well. Did I do something wrong, or is this a bug that needs a support call?
PS- I've used the same instance of Autotune on my DP5 projects without any problems for over a year now.

Hi,
Had the same problem - it has something to do with comping, not Autotune.
1) Unpack the comped track in the dropdown on the left end portion of the audio take.
2) Select all the parts in your vocal take.
3) Go to Audio dropdown above the time line an select "Move Region to Original Record Position"
Once the parts are in the right place I would bounce the part to simplify the arrange window.

What happened to the "next" track command?

the new itunes has so many falws that I am seriously looking for alternatives. One of the most frustrating is the next button that enables one to go the to next track when editing individual track data without having to jusp back out to the album level and mannually select the next track. Is there a fix to this????

I just did a little more digging. They are there for TV Shows and Music, but not for movies.

What happened to Join CD Tracks in Advanced Menu?

Im desperately seeking a solution to my issue. I have several continuous mixes in my library. some of which are tracked out. yet if i simply import onto my ipod, there is an automatic space put between each track. which is dreadfull when listening to a continuous mix. however before i updated to the latest version of itunes (6.1. something or other) i was able to fix it myself. before i would select all the tracks by pressing apple A...then id go to the advanced menu...and then to Join CD Tracks... Which would conjoin it all together. Then i would drag that playlist to another playlist where it would appear as one track...Problem solved. but with the lastest version, they took away that feature. Why!!!!! Im hurtin! If i could uninstall the latest version and go back to the old one that would work too. somebody help me!!!

The function is still there (as it was in 4.9, 5.0, 5.0.1 etc.)
If it is really missing (not dimmed, but missing) from the Advanced menu, then there is obviously something wrong with your iTunes.
Re-installing should fix it.

Saved vocal track "not found". What's happening??

recorded vocal track, saved it, went back later and got error message -Audio file "Liz client work track" .aif not found. This has happened last three times I've tried to record something. What's happening??

I just tried that....didn't change anything. Is there anything I can do to get the disc out? Pressing the eject button doesn't make any difference, and I beginning to despair the fact that I might have to crack and buy a new Superdrive

Can no longer select or move audio clips on Narration track - what happened??

I began my first Adobe Premiere Elements 11 project this morning, a short video (5 mins) I intend to upload to YouTube. It's a comedy sketch involving inanimate objects that "talk", so it requires a lot of dialogue to be added to, in this case, the Narration track.
I am not new to Premiere Elements. In fact, I've done quite a bit of fairly complex editing on previous versions of the software (I upgraded to 11.0 from 8.0). I've never had this problem before.
After editing this project for well over 2 hours with no problem, I can suddently no longer move or even select any audio clip on my Narration track. They are just frozen and stuck there. Everything else works normally. I can select and move all other clips on all other tracks. Further, all audio clips will play, even the ones on the Narration track. However, I can no longer move, select, or even add any clip to the Narration track.
I opened a new project to see if the problem persisted, but it didn't - I could add, select, move audio clips on the Narration track just fine.
I'm stuck and bewildered. The project I've already invested 2-3 hours into seems permanently broken. The audio clips on my Narration track will play, but I can't select, move, or otherwise do anything to them.
My fear is not just that I'll have to start this project over again, but I'll never know when it will break again, and I'll lose all my work again.
Help!

Thanks for the details. As I suggested this idea that I had after reading this thread may be just nonesense, but I thought it would be interesting to try.
This is recommended done with a copy of the project that you have now.
For now, let us assume that the missing track names are part of the locked Narration Track syndrome. I am not sure if your narration clip was generated in Premiere Elements narration feature or created elsewhere and brought into the program. That would be interesting information to have. But, nonetheless, moving forward with this idea.
Given you cannot move, delete, change, etc what is on this Narration Track. Whatever is on that Narration Track traces back to an original on the hard drive and probably is shown in Media Cache's (Adobe Folder) as conformed audio cfa and pek set.
a. Find the narration hard drive hard location and move it to a new location (special folder on hard drive). When you go back to the copy of the problem project, you should be greeted with one of those "Where is....?" messages. Cancel out of that. Do not do anything within that message dialog.
b. Right click the thumbnail for your narration in Project Media and select Replace Footage. Then browse to and select the original that you had moved to the computer desktop and the special folder there.. Click OK. That should restore the file (including whatever effects were made to the file) to the project.
c. Has any of that had any effect on unlocking the Narration Track?
Other maneuvers to try
a. Trying to locate and delete any cfa or pek files associated with the problem audio.
b. Switching to an Aero Theme for Windows if you do not have one set so far.

Message Tracking - Determing what happens to specific email

Good afternoon all! I have a situation with a client Exchange 2010 server. They have a front end/back end exchange setup. They are running this on Server 2008 R2. Mail is setup and working great. They have ONE specific email
they receive on a nightly basis. This email makes it through the front end spam solution, then passes the receive connector. In the message tracking logs I see the message is received. It is sent to a distribution group. Other email
that is sent to the distribution group will have a corresponding expand and deliver logs. This particular email does not have anything further than receive. No other logs to identify why it is not being delivered or dropped or anything. I

There are no further logs on this message. For those that will read the delivery status notification. This message is a bounce back message that they are not receiving. I did change the Default Properties on the remote domains, so that
Allow external out-of-office messages and legacy out-of-office messages is selected as well as under message format: Allow Auto replies, Allow Auto Forward, Allow Delivery Reports, Allow Non-Delivery Reports are also all selected.
I am lost on where to figure out what happens to this email after the receive connector gets it. Messages normally have other messages that show additional information; however this message just dies there.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. I actually started with searches for anything going to that distribution group. I used the GUI version, then went to the shell. Neither was able to produce anything beyond receive. I thought maybe the group was
not setup properly to get emails from the outside, but after testing from my email address directly to the group, I see normal behavior it expands then delivers to the store. With these particular emails, they only ever have the event of receive nothing
further. Any ideas where to look when that happens?

How to create a warm full chorus effect on a vocal track? What effects, plugins or methods to use?

Hey, I am using Logic pro 9 and have been for quite sometime now. The reason I am here today is because I want to know how to create a warm, more full, (almost doubling) chorus effect for my vocal hooks for the hip-hop tracks that I create. I have always heard that type of effect on hooks and never knew how they did it. For example in this song (This song is not my song, excuse the language but this is the type of effect i am looking for. Go to 1:12 of the song)

True, the equipment that I am using does matter and at the moment I am only using a usb microphone with no pre amps or audio interface. I was asking that question to know what methods people use to create that chorus effect. What I did for the time being until I get my new set up I had a main vocal track that was centered and had no effect on it, then made 2 other copies so I had 3 tracks all together I panned one track all the way left and the other track all the way right then I applied the stereo spreader to the two copied tracks and turned the mix 76% channel delay 250 same intensity 100% and speed 1.644 Hz. Then I manually moved the tracks so that the left panned track came first then the main track then the right panned track. It was very small moves not to the point were you could tell just gave it that chorus effect. Do you think those were the right things to do? So its close almost there and maybe with the new setup it will be what I am looking for. But PLEASE KEEP COMMENTING EVERYONE HAS THERE OWN METHODS I AM CURIOUS TO KNOW YOURS!

What is wrong with my vocal tracks

I keep having terrible sounding vocal tracks on my GB recordings, They seem to be very inconsistent volumes and sound shrill. Also on the vocal track the clipping light keeps lighting up even when they are not loud enough in relation to the track. I have turned all the other tracks down by double digit db but still the vocals are weak. I am using Shure SM57 and MXL V63M and neither is performing well but at first I thought it was my MXL which had been damaged. Then I thought it was my interface Presonus Firebox so I tried running a tube preamp into my input jack which sounded much worse. Any idea how I can fix this or at least troubleshoot it to find out what is going wrong here, because quite frankly I am running out of ideas...

When you record vocals, is your mic picking up your monitor? The mic wouldn't echo by itself, but sometimes if the audio is simultaneously coming out of a speaker, either the computer's speaker, your monitors, or even your headphones, the mic can sometimes pick it up as an echo (yet not develop a feedback loop).

What happened to command to get track names

I'm using iTunes 11.01 on OS 10.6.8 having just recently downloaded the updated iTunes. What happened to the advanced menu and the command to get track names and infor? I ripped some CD's while I was offline, and now I cana't figure out how to access the Gracenote Database to get the track names. This is a serious omission in the new version.

It is still there. Right mouse click on a song or group of songs and select Get Track names

For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.

What happened to Append to Session!?!

Cannot figure this out and its driving me nuts. What happened to (or what replaced) the Append to Session command that was in previous versions of audition (all the way back to Cool edit pro). I use this every day on every song and every session. Hasn't anyone else used?
I have a ton of recording "shells" I've made that I always use for overdubs and post production. If I want to do some drub overdubs, I could always Append my drumtrack shell to any session, and get my input/output track naming conventions instantly. No bands wants to wait for me to type the names and select the input/output channel of 10 tracks.
And I have always controlled overdub sessions as a SEPARATE session from the main maix/edit. That way there can be multiple tracks and edits in the dub session, then when those tracks are good to go, I would just append that dub session to the main session. It's silly to run all the effects processing and real time mixing of 40 tracks while trying to record a handful more. Plus, its very inefficient to work that way since there are then so many tracks on the screen/in the session. Who cares about the automation/effects of the bassdrum when you are trying to record a bunch of vocal tracks?
Appending sessions was key to my workflow, and a reason i've moved back to 1.5 for some projects. It is so crucial I figure this out--I don't have time to manually export as an audio file every tracks to all my overdub sessions for a 16 track album. What would normally just take an 'File->Append to Session' click in previous versions will now take literally 8-10 hours of manually mixing down each track--there's an album worth of songs and about 3-5 sessions for each song. It's my first album with AA3 and I just assumed it could do that, now i'm screwed! (can't open AA3 files in AA2 or 1.5).

I believe the Append to Session feature ended up causing track numbering conflicts galore once the multitrack moved from a fixed 128 track limit to an unlimited number of tracks. I'll add a feature request for version 4.0 that may be more of a "Merge session" rather than the exact Append Session behavior from the older versions.
That said, it might be possible to write a script of some kind that would take older sessions saved in the XML session format introduced in AA3, and append or merge them together. I have not looked into this at all, and am not sure what it would take, but it seems feasible.

No audio input on vocal tracks

I've tried to get my voice into a song but so far have had no luck. Neither the internal mike works nor my AK5370 USB mic (so says SysPrefs; it's actually a vXi TalkPro xPress headset mic).
I checked the Sound in SysPrefs and my input goes through fine. But when I hit record on the Male Basic vocal track in GarageBand, nothing goes through. (I have a soft voice and raising the input levels didn't help any).

I have that same Labtec Mic, and I remember experimenting with it and found sometimes it worked with GB and sometimes it didn't. I never found the pattern and since that mic wasn't going to be used professionally with GB, I never put TOO much effort into tracking it down.
So let's see if we can't the internal mic to work. Select it in your System Prefs, then open up GB's prefs and make sure the Input popUp menu is set to "Built-In"
Finally create a New Basic Track, make sure this track is selected, and try recording. Post back and let us know what happens.

Doubling a vocal track?

Is there any plugin (or technique for that matter) in Logic 8 that would allow me to "double" a vocal track (to improve the "thickness", etc)? I mean, short of re-singing multiple tracks.

Good suggestion... The problem with this though, and the delayed track, is that it's stagnant... the delay and the chorus are stationary to the lead vocal, where as a real double moves around it... it's a bit early, it's a bit late, it's right on, the pitch is sharp, the pitch is flat, the pitch is dead on, the tone is brighter, the tone is darker, the tone is right on... and this is ALL happening along with the main vocal.
But if you must do this electronically, may I suggest taking the chorus idea one step further...
Try this: Copy the track. Scoot it forward a sub-frame or so. Put a sample delay plug-in on that track, set to 0 samples. Now put Logic's Pitch shifter on that track...Semi-Tones and Cents set to 0, Mix set to 100%.
Now, using automation, randomly adjust the sample delay parameter, so that on a word or two it's around 0 (ahead of the original vocal), and then moving the sample parameter later, it's behind the original vocal. This has to happen very fast, on a word by word basis ("word" as in language, not as in digital clocking...)
Same thing with the pitch plug-in. Automate the "Cents" parameter quickly, and in small amounts.
This, in my opinion, will yield more realistic results electronically, than just a delay and/or chorus, if you are going for a natural sounding double....using what's available within Logic.
The catch here, is that in the time it takes you to do this effectively, you could have sung doubles to every song on your album, and had a sandwich...

Vocal track disappearing

Has anyone had any issues with songs changing. For example. There are two songs on my playlist that have changed since I downloaded them from the Itunes store. One I was just playing tonight. I played it a second time and the vocal track was missing. I played it again, same thing. I checked the song preview on Itunes and it was missing the vocals too. Another song changed too. The guitar track on it is different.

I have had this same problem and with muffled tracks also... it is worse with the new iTunes and I can't stand to play the music. What has happened here? Outside (internet radio) plays fine... so it is not that part. It is only the music I have loaded into iTunes from my collection. This is extremely frustrating.
