What happened to Network Utility in 10.9.2

After upgrding to Mavericks, I can't find the Network Utility app.  Anybody know where it went?

  • What happened to Raid utility in mavericks?

I have an early 2008 mac pro with apple's hardware raid card.   After doing Apples "free" upgrade, I no longer have raidutility under utilties...    What happened?
I'm also stuck in and endless loop of appstore trying to update itunes and hp printer driver...
    Sigh.
    Jason

    Hi Jason,
I would claim that the RAID Utility is really a System Administrator app, and not a user app.  And with the end of the silver Mac Pro models and Xserve already out of production, the Apple Raid cards appear to be a thing of the past.
As I manage 14 Mac Pros, from Early 2008 through Mid 2012 models, I'll have to figure out other ways to perform the mirrored disk function.  I think it will be some kind of cron job that runs rsync to keep pairs of disks synced...
I've just installed Mavericks on a test Early 2008 Mac Pro, with RAID card, upgrading from OS X 10.6.8.  So far, everything seems to be going pretty well.  Next week's project is to compile Macports, and install our standard set of Unix utilities.  This will likely be a challenge, for such a new OS.
    anyway, glad to help,
    Roy

  • What happened to airport utility after update

I just completed the recent software update to Airport utility and Airport is now gone from the utility menu. Where did it go? I made another attempt at the update to see if it "missed" it, but nothing. System states Airport Utility not installed. How do I get it back?
    MBP 5,1; OSX 10.7.4; 8gb,

Well that's a disappointment. Try downloading it directly from this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1537

  • Sorry but I think this wrong, I know that in Colombia there and two of the three operators already have 4G/LTE networks, what happens is that the iPhone should be expected to send the update software for computers that have this tercnologia activate them,

sorry but I think this wrong, I know that in Colombia there and two of the three operators already have 4G/LTE networks, what happens is that the iPhone should be expected to send the update software for computers that have this tercnologia activate them, that my Iphone or receiving 5 supports 4G LTE,
    Thank you for your attention

Apple needs to test the carrier if they offer LTE as expected.
If your country/carrier is not on the list then there's no LTE on your iPhone.

It's between the your carrier and Apple. There's nothing you can do except feedback to Apple:

  • My ipod says that there's no internet connection despite me signed on sky network. what happened? how do i fix it?

My ipod says that there's not interent connection despite me signed up to SKY network at home! what happened? how do i fix it?

When you go to Settings>wifi does it show you are connected?
Do other devices successfully connect to the internet?
Does the iPod successfully connect to other networks?
    Try:
    - Resetting the iPod. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

  • For Network Utility: What is "Mailbox Information" in Lookup tab?

I'm familiar with with DNS records, and I've often used the Lookup function of Network Utility to look up IP addresses, cnames, MX records, etc.
Just today I noticed that one of the options from the lookup menu is Mailbox Information.
    What is that?
I even tried using it for a few well-known domains (like apple.com), but I don't understand the results.

Thanks, Austin.  Littled used is right — virtually none of the domains I checked have anything listed.  I tried apple.com, google.com, microsoft.com.
Years ago I learned about DNS from a book called DNS and Bind. The author, Cricket Liu, has his own website at http://cricketondns.com/ and even that lacks a Mailbox Information record.
If Cricket doesn't have one, then I'm not worried about it!
    Thanks again.

  • What happens if i reset my network settings on my iphone 4s

I entered the wrong network password after my phone was replaced and now i can't access wi-fi.
What happens if i reset my network settings on my iphone 4s?

    Hi richoch3t
I have found the following information regarding resetting network settings, and what the effects are.
iPhone User Guide (For iOS 6.1 Software)
    manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
    Page 139
Reset network settings:  When you reset network settings, your list of previously used networks and VPN settings not installed by a configuration profile are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off
and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and “Ask to Join Networks” settings remain turned on. To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profile, then select the profile and tap Remove. This also removes other settings or accounts provided by the profile.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • What happened to iPhoto network sharing?

Since upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot see how I share photos across my home network.  I do not want to have to upload to icloud as this will take much longer.  What happened to the home network sharing option?

    Two things:
    1. Great Find:
Apparently everyone ignores the option of home sharing the iPhoto library using iTunes
    2. On the other hand:
I simply put it on my Qnap NAS
you might want to read this and reconsider:
iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, exporting, saving edits and sharing the photos.
    See this article
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5168
for more. Note also the comment:
“Additionally, storing the iPhoto library on a network rather than locally on your computer can also lead to poor performance or data loss.”

What happened to the Page Setup menu item in the Grab Utility? It was there in Snow Leopard and gone in Mountain Lion?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Disk Utility has been trying to make a partition on hard drive for 5 hours what happens if I stop it

I have bee trying to make a partition on my mac Book Pro hard drive with disk utility. It says it is modifying partition map for 6 hours now, What happens if I stop this?

I don't want to erase my whole drive.
Your only erasing the Free Space of your OS X partition, meaning the areas where there is none of your data stored.
Because when Bootcamp works it's going to take some from that to create the Bootcamp partiton for Windows.
If I choose erase does it then give me the option before I press something else and wipe out what I don't want to wipe out just yet?
If you click Erase Free Space it give s a option and then you go.
My dvd player is bust and at the moment...
Well how are you going to install Windows and the drivers?
You didn't read the Bootcamp manual did you?
    https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
IMO, your not up to doing this, I advise you to stop and forget about installing Windows, because your problems are only just started.
    Good Luck

You can use syslog to send all the connection-logs to an internal server (I would use a linux-box with syslog-ng). There you have all sessions that were used through the ASA. On the server you can search or filter these logs with your native tools (grep, tail, etc.). If you need more comfort there are several commercial solutions available.
    logging enable
    logging timestamp
    logging trap informational
    logging device-id hostname
    logging host inside YOUR-LOG-HOST-IP

  • If i reset the network setting on my iphone4s what happens? will it erase everything

if i reset the network setting on my iphone4s what happens? will it erase everything? my wi-fi doesnt work

If you do a restore on the ipod, it only affects the ipod.  Everything on the ipod is erased, but itunes and everything in itunes and on your computer will still be there.
The restore will only erase you ipod.

  • What happens to a NetConnection when the client loses network connectivity?

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what happens with a
NetConnection that is interrupted by the loss of network
connectivity. In recent testing on my FMS app, I logged in, messed
around for a while, then physically disconnected my computer's
ethernet cable. While the application stopped responding to my
actions (as expected), the instance on Flash Media Server continued
to show a client connection for several minutes after the
disconnect, although it did eventually time out. Before it timed
out, reconnecting the ethernet cable didn't allow the client to
interact with the application again, also pretty much expected.
What I'm wondering is if there is any way to register the
loss of connectivity by the client so that appropriate action could
be taken. It doesn't seem that any of the NetStatusEvents respond
to loss of connectivity...the closed event occurs only when
actively closing the connection, not when it's simply cut off. Has
anyone else had to deal with this, and what sort of approach did
    you take?
Thanks in advance for any help.

When you close a process it wont use the port/network until it restarts automatically.

This has nothing to do with my question. I'd like a detailed explanation of what the suspend function does,

  • TS1398 what happens when I reset network settings?

what happens when I reset network settings on I Phone 5?

    Hi Jim Blau1!
The answer to your question can be found in this article that you have linked, about troubleshooting iOS Wi-Fi network connections:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Specifically, I believe this statement will answer your question:
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!
