What Happened to option to export as PNG?!!
Hi,
Unless I am going mad I am sure I exported a movie a while back as PNG format (under Share - Export Quicktime Movie and then choose PNG compression format). I know the file size was unbelievably huge (30 gb for a 30 min movie), but it is the only way I have found in iMovie to export a movie with minimal quality loss. However, I am trying to export a movie now and I can't find the PNG option - has it been removed or was it on an earlier version of iMovie?
And if it has been removed (and I know this question has been done to death), how do you export a high quality movie from iMovie for archiving? I have tried exporting as DV using best compression but there is still noticable blocking in the dark areas.

Yes, you can still export to PNG from iMovie, but it's buried in a LOT of submenus:
1. In the Share menu select Export using QuickTime...
2. In the Save exported movie as... window that pops up, press the OPTIONS button (near the bottom).
3. In the Movie Settings window that pops up, press the SETTINGS button.
4. This will bring up a window where you can change the compression format (usually defaulting to H.264). In my case (Snow Leopard and iMovie '11), PNG is one of the drop-down menu options.
By the way, there are a LOT of cool special effects under the Filter... button in Movie Settings I'd never noticed before today (like embossing, solariation, putting "film scratches" on it).
I also didn't know that QuickTime allowed you to select the Key frame rate. The default is 150, apparently, so when I had a pan-across move, it looked jumpy until I lowered it.

What happened to "options" in the displays pane?
Each month I calibrate about 40 Cinema displays with a Monaco Optix system. For the ones on Macs, about 20, I lock out the brightness buttons using the options tab in the Displays pane in System Preferences. They all running OS 10.4.9 or 10.4.10. All of the displays are the newer model 23" displays.
When I made my rounds this month one of the systems no longered offered the options tab though it did have the ability to rotate the screen, something not available on any other system. This was not the case last month.
Since I couldn't unlock the buttons on this system, I couldn't calibrate the monitor.
So here are my questions:
1. How can I get these buttons unlocked so I can calibrate this screen?
2. What happened and how do I fix it?

Mirror Door G4, 23" Cinema display Mac OS X (10.4.9) Using Monaco OPTIX xr calibrator.I figured it out.
The USB cable that feeds the hub in the back of the monitor is damaged.
Any cinema display will fail to show options if the USB cable is disconnected or broken.

Safari 6.0, what happened with option to open with windows from last session?
Made the upgrade from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion and realized that I don't longer have the option to open Safari with windows from last session (Preferences->General). The option has been removed:
They don't. I can access them by history ->reopen all windows from last session, but that's not what I want.
Does anybody else have this problem or is it just me that lost that option on Preferences -> General? -

I have a question about exp process. I am wonder what happens when I start export of my database.
Recently I started an exp on the database over which I performed stress tests (a lot of transaction, insert, update..). A table(T1) in which are enroll are exported until some time, then started export other tables, but the table T1 are continue to enroll.
What happen in the concurrent inserts and exports of one table?
ThanksExport will dump the data for a single table as of the point in time it starts exporting that table. Other inserts/updates/deletes after the start of the export will not appear in the export file, due to normal read consistency rules.
If you are exporting multiple tables, they will each be as of the point in time when export starts processing a given table, unless you specify the CONSISTENT=Y option, in which case all tables are exported as they appeared at the start of the export. This is the only way to get a relationally consistent export. -

I had a preset that renamed my images in the format desired by my newspaper. Now, all I see is the ability to adjust the size, and the gamma (?)?
Perhaps the options moved? I know! They moved the options over with the colored icons? Along with the missing socks from the dryer!
And seriously. Aperture could export and name my pix like this:

In Pages, In the past, I was able to edit a template and "save a version" to update the template. Now i have to rename the template to save the changes. Why is this happening? what happen to "save a version"? its no longer an option under "file". And I can no longer open the actual template, when template is clicked, it automaticaly opens an "untitled" version???
In your description you say the first document opens as the Title you gave it.
Templates always open as Untitled so it sounds like you have saved a regular document, perhaps into your templates folder which is possible.
Since you have already worked on it and it has been previously saved, Lion will now Save for you and Save a Version is available
The other document does open as Untitled so sounds like a real template and as Peggy has pointed out will not have either Revert nor Save a Version until you Save it and have changed something in it.
This is a classic example of just how Apple's supposedly "simplification" of the process, is leading to confusion of what has happened. That the conditions and resulting actions from those conditions is so convoluted says it all.
It all reminds me of the Monty Python Life of Brian sketch with the "simplified" John Cleese instructions to the class, as to if you have a brother in an older dorm whether to hang your hat and bag on the hooks provided. The trouble is Apple does not get the joke, that it is transforming itself into a frequently self contradictory bumbling bureacracy. The price of unchallenged self appointed geniushood.
The incoherent half baked stumbling juggernaut has reached new triumphs with its edict on enforced Sandboxing on developers when it is unable to follow even its own instructions.

I have iOS7 on my iPhone4. I turned on the Voice Over option and now my phone is not working at all. At first it was freezing and not accepting any commands. Now all I have is a blank sceen. I can't get back into it. Any ideas what happened here?

What if my ipod touch 4th generation can't update and now the only option is to restore it.
And i don't know what happens if i press restore?
Will it show my back up and back it up or what?

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

I can no longer type in unlimited information on my adobe reader in pdf. At one time this was an option, it would give you an icon that would allow you to type in more information. What happen?
That is not an option of Adobe Reader, but the way a PDF is created.

Back then when we were syncing with MobileME, the control panel allows us to decide what to do when there is a conflit of data in the cloud vs the information on our computer. We were given the option of Replacing information in Me with information on the computer or vice versa, but now we do not have any of these options. And currently when i sync my computer with icloud, i dont know if the information (Contacts, Bookmarks) will be replaced with the current informaiton on the iCloud (transfered from MobileMe) or they will merge (if they merge then i would have double of contacts,bookmarks??) or the information in the iCloud would be replaced?
If we had more options in the control panel of iCloud, then things can be simplier. However, with the current iCloud control panel, we have no way of knowing what happens when there is a conflict and we won't know what action the iCloud would take for the conflict of information.
So currently i still dont know if my Favourites (Bookmarks) will be replaced or not.
Does anyone know if we can wipe out the info on iCloud and replace it with the data (Contacts, bookmark, calendars etc) on our computer?This is what I did...not ideal but seems to work for right now till iCloud actually syncs contacts into Outlook 2010 (PC/Win 7) like Mobile Me used to. I opened the contacts in the iCloud contact address boxes in Outlook. I selected all contacts by selecting one and then Ctrl-A (selects all), then Ctrl-C (copies all). Then I went into the Outlook Contact folder which is blank from iCloud "stealing" all my contacts and in that empty box I hit Ctrl-V to past all contacts in. I am now able to use my contacts when emailing in Outlook.
Of course, any changes I make to my iPhone contact list or via iCloud will only sync back to the iCloud contacts lists in Outlook (and not Outlook's main calendar) so occassionally I'm thinking I'll need to go back and do this all again either figuring out a way to only copy new contacts over, or going into Outlook Contacts and deleting all of those, going back to Outlook iCloud contacts (which are syncing but not communicating with other aspects of Outlook like mail) and then do the process all over (select all, copy, paste).
Seems silly that contacts can't work the same as they did with Mobile Me but it seems like Apple has a tendancy with everything but their actual iDevices to be screwy when things are working and make things more complicated. I was not looking towards this day as I knew there would be some stupid issue as it seems like it always is that way with their new software rollouts. In fact, I use Outlook 2010 through Parrells still cause their Mac version still won't sync even calendars...at least iCloud is still doing that with Outlook 2010 Windows...though still the same issue as Mobile Me that it doesn't sync with the main calendar...but I can still use it and sync well to the iPhone. -
A friend bought second hand macbook air mid 2011 with crossed circle on the display and give to me to try to recover the system, I tried recovery from partition and same thing occured, after internet recovery it stays the same-crossed circle after reboot, then we tried to boot from USB with mac os 10.8 on it, it installs something,like it has being finishing installation, rebootes, and now it asks for password for boot option.We have no idea what that password could be.What happened!!!

How to copy and paste the graphics from illustrator to MS word. What I tried is exporting in png with highest resolution and then inserting in to word. This loses a bit of resolution in comparison to direct copy and paste as EMF. But if I do a copy and paste, and then take a print of the document, all the graphs and text is printed upside down, flipped back.

Documents in Safari no longer give me the option to open in iBooks. What happened???
The link to pdf documents, from Safari to iBooks, has ceased to exist on my iPad. What happened & how to fix??? In the past, when opening a pdf thru Safari, just tapping on it, brought up the option to "Open in iBooks", but it no longer pops up. Ugh. Help??
That's correct. You will need to open the PDF in Safari first, then tap Open in "iBooks" (or "Open in ..." to send to other available apps). If the tool bar for this isn't readily visible, tap anywhere on the document to display it.

n mountain lion calendar, the alerts on give you a "close" or "snooze" options. What happen to being able to select how long you wanted to snooze your alert?

It addresses this exact issue. You'll be able to configure different pre-set snooze times, enter custom snooze times when an alarm triggers, etc. It's what snoozing should've been from the get go.
