  • What in the RSS feed populates the new "More" button?

In the latest iTunes, there is a "More" button on the right below my Description. But the text that shows is the same as in my Description. What code do I write into my RSS feed to populate the new "More" paragraph?

There isn't any such code. I think there's a minor bug here; I would expect that the intention is that if you write a long description the Store will display the first few lines, and then the 'more' button will reveal the rest of it. In fact, as you've found, if you have a short description it simply repeats it; a slightly longer one causes the button to disappear, and though I don't know I suspect a longer description may cause it work as expected. I'm afraid we are all stuck with it until it gets fixed.

  • What happened to RSS in Mountain Lion

  • What Happened to my Feed??

    Very strange...but help.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=179237134
This is the location of my podcast. I successfully got up and running but then made some changes to my .rss file - uploaded said file to my server and now I can't validate anywhere....I went to FeedBurner.com to use their service and they can't validate me either. So of course I changed my .rss BACK to it's origianl code (uploaded changes to server) and still nothing. No validation.
I'm not clear on this either, but I have tried validating the above url AND the direct ftp address to my .rss file AND the mp3 file. Nothing is working!
Any insight is helpful - I'm obviously new at this.

You will need to get your feed working at the URL that iTunes thinks your feed is at. In your feed add in the <itunes:new-feed-url>
"This tag allows you to change the URL where the podcast feed is located. It is added at the <channel> level. The feed format is:
    <itunes:new-feed-url>http://newlocation.com/example.rss</itunes:new-feed-url>
After adding the tag to your old feed, you should maintain the old feed for 48 hours before retiring it. At that point, iTunes will have updated the directory with the new feed URL. For more information, please see the "Changing Your Feed URL" section above."
So for you to change your RSS feed in iTunes you need to have both feeds running at the same time the Old one with the New Feed Tag and the new one at the URL called out in the New Feed Tag.

  • What happened to my RSS feeds in Mail?

I bought the new Mountain Lion OS, and now I no longer receive RSS feeds in Mail.  I cannot find any soluion except to install an RSS app...which makes no sense to me.  So far, not thrilled with the Mountain Lion.

Not thrilled with Mountain Lion either.  I had a bunch of RSS feeds that I read and now they all just disappear and I have to spend $5 to get a decent RSS reader?  And update Parallels to get that to work.  So yes, Apple your OS has gotten cheaper but it's costing me much more in the long run.  Wish I hadn't upgraded...
    Apple's going the wrong direction

  • Subscribe or RSS Feed From Thread: What's the Differen

What's the difference between subscribing to a thread and getting an RSS feed on it's?? I'm assuming subscribing to the thread is what happens when one selects "E-mail me if someone replies to this thread."? Is that right? On Internet Explorer v7, when I click?"Favorites" I get a list of RSS feeds but I don't know what they do or what to do with them.

Subscribing is done on the forum, and you can be notified by e-mail when there is a response to a thread. It will also show you your subscriptions on the front page of the forum, when you're logged in.
For more information on RSS feeds, check it's Wikipedia article. You'll need a feed reader if you want to use the RSS feeds.

  • What is the max size of a mp3 file you can add to an RSS feed?

I am working on adding a mp3 file to my website with an RSS
feed. I want to use it for a podcast. I am new to the xml language
and was using a freeware program to generate the script but it will
only let me upload a file around 10MB. My mp3 file is around 45MB.
Is this going to be too big of a file that will need to be broken
down or is there another way to do it? Does dreamweaver have
preformatted templates to make pages needed for podcasts? Thanks
    for your time.

I don't understand. Why (or how) would you want to embed a
binary format in an xml file? What problem could this possibly
    solve?

  • What program to use to create an RSS feed for iTues.  PC-user.

Hi! I'm a PC-user. I need to create an RSS feed for iTunes. What program do I need to use?
    Thanks,

Today, Sep. 24, 2006, there is on the Webpage a link
    (http://www.feedforall.com/download.htm) (Shareware)
to the FeedForAll v2.0 BETA2 with iTunes Support.
    Read on the website:
"FeedForAll BETA- robust RSS feed creation software with namespace support includind support for iTunes and other namespaces."

  • I have done what it said in a previous question and exported my IE RSS feeds, but I can't understand how to import them into FireFox ot how to view them once they are imported.

In a previous question, someone asked hoe to import RSS feeds from IE to FireFox:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/358684?s=rss&as=q
I have done as it says, but had trouble with the second step which was "installing OPML Support 1.5.2 extension for Firefox, which you can use to import OPML file you just exported from IE". I think I installed the extension, but now what? how does it help me import the feeds? And where do i view RSS feeds in FireFox?

  • The artwork for our podcast, "Japan Baseball Weekly," recently disappeared. The RSS feed info appears to be in order, any particular reason for this and what can be done to rectify the situation?

Please always post the URLs of the Store page and the feed when you have a question. For reference, your feed is at
    http://www.japanesebaseball.com/services/jbw-podcasts.jsp
and the Store page is at
    http://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/japan-baseball-weekly/id443149184
Looking at the Store page, the image appears there perfectly well. On subscribing there is no image associated with the episodes because you haven't embedded an image in the files - please see this page for clarification:

  • Interesting how this thread when put on an RSS feed now states that there were no articles posted re: iTunes for Mac; what's that called...spin control?

I know for a FACT that lots of people including myself were trying to figure out yesterday what's wrong with itunes 11.0.3. I see many, many unanswered questions re: iTunes for Mac updated to 11.0.3 w/subsequent problems. The bottom line must be... Cupertino: We have issued another lemon of an update and we don't have answers for our customers who don't like the taste of the kool-aid we're serving.

Actually, only yesterday has been whitewashed; you can click on RSS feed & access Monday... So I stand corrected. No Wait!
Cool, I solved my own question or did I? I see a Green Star indicating that I solved my question, (although I didn't) but I don't get any points?
Only people with points can get points.
What if you give a wrong answer? Why don't they subtract points?

  • ITunes continues to give me a message that it cannot download my podcast from podomatic -- what am I doing wrong? I am following the instructions exactly and copying and pasting the rss feed.

Help! I've watched two tutorials and it appears that this should be so simple, but iTunes will not download my podcast that I host on podomatic.com. I've copied and pasted the RSS feed. What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you!

The feed itself seems OK and can be subscribed to manually in iTunes, and the latest episode downloaded OK.
However, on checking the URL of the latest episode's media file in Safari resulted in a download: it should play in the browser. Though forcing a download doesn't seem to upset the iTunes application, the Store doesn't like it since it needs to be able to stream the file to play it in the Store page.
It's also a requirement that the server can handle 'byte range requests' (where only part of the file is requested at a time instead of the whole thing) because this is the method used by iTunes. It was testing for this that showed there was a problem because I got a 'forbidden' error (in other words, because a download is forced it's not possible to request only part of the file).
It must be possible to get this straight on Podomatic since they handle a lot of podcasts, but you will need to take it up with them and check that it's been corrected.
The first test is to paste the media file URL into Safari's address bar and hit return: after a short delay it should play in the browser window. If it downloads you still have a problem.

    First...Stop screaming. It's rude.
Next...there are some minor problems with your feed. "Drum n Bass" is not a iTunes category. Stick with <itunes:category text="Music" /> remove the others.
Not required, but recommend to add an <itunes:explicit> tag with a Y or N depending on what suits your podcast. The iTunes staff will remove your feed if it isn't tagged properly.
    MP3 audio files should have a type="audio/mpeg".
Keep the Podcast spec handy...the categories and other info listed in the spec.
Test your feed with http://www.feedvalidator.org it will point out problems with your feed.
The bigger problems stem from your podcast enclosure, specifically the URL.
The URL you have listed to the podcast mp3 apparently has changed so iTunes can't download the file. It also appears that you are using a "free download" kind of service that uses web page based downloads, which might account for why the URL keeps changing. Don't think that iTunes will be able to properly download the file.
