What happened to slideshow

I added an image to a homepage slideshow and ftped - no longer showing 15 image slideshow. Works in Preview but not in browser. It's either a Basic or Blank slideshow. Help!
http://greenmountainpetportraits.com/index.html

Hi
As I see you have removed next, previous buttons from the slideshow. Can you check few things :
- If Auto play is unchecked , try to enable that.
- Enable buttons ( next, previous ) and then check.
Also if the above suggestions doesn't work, then please let me know the settings that you have used for the slideshow control options.
Thanks,
Sanjit

I can't control effects, time or movement.  can't belive adobe took all these adjustments away

Adobe is starting over with a completely different slideshow in PSE 13. Unfortunately, for now it's a lot more basic than the old slide show editor.

What happened to Slideshows from the finder? Now yo have to hold down option to switch from Quickview to Slideshow in the Finder menu-- and then in the slideshow itself, it doesn't fade from picture to picture like it used to. Anyone else notice this? It just jumps to the next pic with no transition.

What happened to the "share slideshow to iDVD" option?  Anyone know a fix?

    1. Why take away a feature that makes compatability between programs easier???
Because no new Mac has had iDVD for a few years now. It would confuse people to see a command that they can't use, is my guess. But

  • What happens to iweb-built site when I upgrade from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3), and subsequently upgrade to 10.6.8 or even 10.7? Will fonts stay the same? Will layout change? Or anything else change? Thanks

What happens to iweb-build site when I upgrade from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3) and subsequently update that to 10.6.8 or even to 10.7? Evidently iweb has been discontinued. I have version 3.0.3 of iweb now but understand that there's been an update for OS 10.6 so same question goes for this update.
Will fonts change? Will layout change? Will widgets still work? Links? Will Google Analytics PlugIn still work?
(Since MobileMe is disappearing, I now save iweb site to local folder on my computer, then upload it to GoDaddy using Cyberduck. I run Google Analytics plug in on folder before its uploaded.)
My computer, MacBook Pro came with iweb, which has been updated to 3.0.3. Since iweb is discontinued, will upgrade of operating system just ignore iweb so that iweb will run the same as before? Or will it wipe it out? Or change how it currently works (questions above).
    Thanks

As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • How do I install iLife 8 and what happens to all my old projects?

I want to buy and install iLife 8 but as I have never upgraded to a new version before I don't know how you do this (apart from purchasing it of course).
Step by step, how do you install the disc?
What happens to all my existing and work in progress iMovie and iDVD projects? Can I continue to work on them or should I wait until I have finished them before upgrading?

If you have a book started in iPhoto 6 then you might want to make a backup copy of the library and the application as some book themes are not included in iPhoto 7. iPhoto 7 will continue to work with that theme but if you switch to another to see what it looks like you can't go back. Another approach is to make a copy of the book in iPhoto 6 for backup just in case, select it and type Command-D.
It apperars that the new large hardcover books have printed dust jackets with the cover photo instead of the photo on the hard cover.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I don't know what happened?!

So last night, to give a little history, I was trying to look at a slideshow that I had made using iphoto. That's when the touble started, I could see the pictures in the library but when I clicked on them to edit, they woud not show up. When I tried to play the slideshow, it just made a black screen and i had to force quit out of iphoto.
So I left my macbook alone to for the night, still charging and playing itunes while I slept. In the morning, my itunes was still playing.
After my shower I guess my macbook went to sleep. I had to type in my password in order to log in. When it opened to the desktop EVERYTHING WAS DIFFERENT from how I left it before. There were tons of programs in my dock. My desktop background was different. The trackpad settings had gone back to the original settings. My photos that I edited in iphoto were gone. The photos I took in Photobooth were gone. ALL THE MUSIC I HAD IN MY iTUNES LIBRARY WERE GONE!
Basically, it seemed like all the settings had been restored back to factory settings. Except my sticky notes were still on the desktop with all the information I had left on it as well as my ical. In safari, all my bookmarks are still there. In my Pages, all my documents are still there too. So a lot of stuff was still saved, but I also lost a lot. It's really disappointing, and time consuming to set everything back up the way I had it. Plus, having to put my music back on my macbook.
I'm not sure what happened. I'm not sure what to do about it.
I also would like to know how to save the settings I set for my macbook, trackpad, dock, desktop, etc... Or are they supposed to be saved and work everytime I log back onto my macbook?
Any help would be greatly appreciatted!
    Thanks!
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4)

Wow... Haven't heard of this one before.
Yes - you are correct in assuming that all of your settings should just stay put between login sessions. It sounds almost as if another account (if you have one) got mixed up with your own - or perhaps some preference files just somehow got messed up.
I would probably run the Disk Utility --- Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility --- and repair the permissions as well as run a check on the hard drive just to rule out any problems there.
Then I would reset the preferences back to my liking. I would then watch it and if it happens again, I would try doing a clean install of OSX and all applications. If, after that, it happens again, I would call Applecare or go to an Apple store and have them look at it.
It's definitely not supposed to happen but I would try to fix the problem myself in those ways before I called Apple.
    Good luck!

  • What happened to my PSE8 edited pictures

I imported some fresh pictures today and did some tweaking in Photoshop Elements 8 having set that app as my editing program. Now this evening I went back to look at those pictures and all the ones I edited and saved have a large triangle against a black background containing an exclamation mark in them when I double click to see them in enlarged view. I also cannot edit these at all anymore. What happened??? My earlier picture that I edited open just fine...something happened with these however.

iPhoto 11 does not work with external editors like the previous versions did and is a big step backward or a bug.
When you go to edit in an external editor iPhoto immediately creates a duplicate file and that's what gets edited by PSE. When the edit is saved it's saved to the new file and is not associated with the original file like iPhoto edits are.
Now if you try to view the edited file or use it in a slideshow or book you can see the larger version of it. However, if you quit and relaunch iPhoto and try to use that edited photos iPhoto acts as if the modified version is missing (and it is because the original of that duplication is the modified version). If you do a Revert to Original iPhoto will start using the original of that photos which is the modified version. I know it's a bit convoluted and hope you can follow me.
Be sure to report this bug to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html. The more reports from users the better the chance Apple will address it in the next update.
This may be preaching to the choir but here's some info on using PSE from within iPhoto. The directions are for PSE 9 so may be a bit different from PSE 8 but the general info should be good:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's Advanced Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS/PSE without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in iPhoto". That will let you either edit in iPhoto using the Edit button or Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in iPhoto" or in PS/PSE by Control-clicking on the thumbnail and selecting "Edit in External Editor" in the Contextual menu.
This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • I have added photos to a portfolio website I'm building and a lot of them look VERY grainy when you click on them. They are nice clean large files and can print bat high res way over 16" x 20" so whats happened to them in iWeb?

I have added photos to a portfolio website I'm building and a lot of them look VERY grainy when you click on them. They are nice clean large files and can print bat high res way over 16" x 20" so whats happened to them in iWeb?

When you are dealing with websites, image file size is a trade off between quality and download speed. There's not a lot of point to having high quality images if they take too long to download in the browser.
Nowadays we also have to consider the device that the end user is viewing the images on. An image that is optimized for viewing on a large screen is total overkill and unsuitable for those using mobile devices.
Really we should be supplying different versions of media files for different devices using @media rules in the stylesheet but this is rather outside of the scope of iWeb. If you use the built in image optimizer and the iWeb Photo template with slideshow, the application will optimize the images according to the way in which you set this function in preferences and the slideshow size will be automatically reduced for those viewing it on smaller screens.
If you want to give your viewers the opportunity to view large, high quality images, you can supply them as a download.

  • HT1206 what happened to my iTunes library, it disappeared except for the purchased songs?

What happened to my itunes library it disappeared except  for the purchased songs?

By being gone do you mean the library is not in your Pictures folder or when you open the library you don't see any photos or thumbnails?  If it's the latter apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • What happened to the ipad photo viewer in lock screen?

What happened to the ipad photo viewer in lock screen? I updated to iOS 7.0 and nolonger have the slide show and music while in lock sreen. This was the most used feature of my iPad since I put it in a dock on my desk. Is there another way to do that.

    I 100% agree with ski-doug!!!
I use iPad 50% of the time  to play music and display photos for my customers!!!
I also have seen many a business display picture slideshows to their incoming customers without granting access to the device!
I realize many will save personal pictures to their iPads and thus they will not want easy acces to them, and they could block this feature in previous iOS.
Please, please, please Apple, DO NOT generalize and figure we are all the same!
    Please reuturn this feature!
    Sincerely...
    Monteh!
PS  It would be awesome if it could display all My Pics instead of just an album!

  • Most of my photo titles have reverted back - what happened?

Last week I noticed that a very large majority of my photo titles had reverted back to the original (I.e. img-4756.jpg).
Any idea of what happened and how it can be fixed would be very very much appreciated.
    Much thanks!
    -Sig

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • What happens to my MobileMe Gallery when I switch to iCloud?

I have about 20 picture folders in my MobileMe Gallery.
    1.  What happens to those pictures when I switch to iCloud? Do I need to manually download each folder and then reload them to iCloud?
    2. Gallery had a nice option of making some folders public and others private - does anyone know if this option exists in the iCloud photostream?
    3. I currently have a PC (ugh! - saving to get a MAC) running Windows XP Pro - am I correct that Photostream will not work with my PC?
    Many thanks for any help!!

If you have an iPhone 4 or 4s, an iPad 2 or newer you could download iPhoto for iOS; import your albums onto the devices and use the Journal function to create a journal and post it to iCloud for friends to see. It even allows you to announce to your friends and family the new post.  The images look as if they are posted on a bulletin board. After selecting an image, the view can manually view the next image by pressing the next button or view all of them in a slideshow.

I would imagine that iWeb and iDVD will be dropped from future boxed versions of iLife if there are boxed versions. However, there may be some copies of the boxed iLife 11 still on the shelves that would include iWeb and iDVD.  Those two apps were listed in small, gray text on the iLife 11 box that I bought.
iWeb 3 has a built in ftp client that will let you upload to an 3rd party host as easitly as it publishes to MobileMe Now.  There are times when that client has problems for some so the use of a 3rd party ftp client would be necessary.  The free  Cyberduck is a good client.

  • What happens on iCloud (ex. contacts) when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?

What happens on iCloud when multiple family members use the same Apple ID?  For example if we all choose to use iCloud for contacts, are they all merged together?  We use the same Apple ID so we can use find my iPhone to keep track of the whole family.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
    1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
    2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
    3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
    4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
    5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
    6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.
