What happened to the Adobe file dialog in CS4?

Am I missing something or is the adobe open file dialog gone in CS4? I loved the ability to assign favorite folders on the left margin since I have so many files and drilling down into folders is such a repetitive chore! What happened?
Also, don't know if anyone else has encountered this but it appears that since I installed CS4 master collection several of my most often used open type fonts are no longer recognized: Cronos Pro and Myriad Pro.

Yup, the "Adobe Dialog" seems to be gone, gone, gone ...
In terms of the fonts, where were those fonts installed? I also have full families of Cronos Pro and Myriad Pro installed on all my systems outside of the suite and have not encountered any problems is their use after installing the CS4 Master Collection. Are those same fonts still visible in the Windows Fonts Control Panel and accessible from other applications? If so, you may want to delete all the
AdobeFnt##.lst files on your system and then startup a suite program and see if that fixes the AWOL fonts.

  • If I delete a file in iCloud, what happens to the local file in ~/Library/Mobile Documents ?

If I delete a file in iCloud, what happens to the local file in ~/Library/Mobile Documents ? Does it get deleted to?
    Hope somebody can help.
    Thx.

I'm pretty certain that it gets deleted as well. If you try and open that mobile documents folder, it takes you to the iCloud drive folder. I've been searching for this same issue for the last 24 hours also as I inadvertently deleted my Keynote files stored on iCloud drive thinking I was just temporarily deleting Keynote from my iPad when upgrading to the latest iOS 8 version. (I needed space and thought, "Oh, I'll just reinstall later... Turns out I was in the iCloud storage area, not in my iPad storage area at the time and therefore deleted all my iCloud stored presentations. From every device.)

  • What happened to the Adobe Help Viewer or Center for CS4?

What happened to the great help program that CS2 and then CS3 had? I don't seen any such program for CS4!!!!
    Thanks, --bill

The help system has been changed again. If you are online the Help menu takes you to the Adobe Community Help Center (link to help is on the right), otherwise it loads a local copy from your computer.
You can use the PDF copy of the manual on your installation discs or download it from the Community Help Center.
    Cheers

  • HT4796 what happens to the transferred files when the migration aborts?

My migration aborted after an hour because the windows computer went to sleep.  What happened to the files that already transferred?  Where are they stored during the transfer?  The mac is mtn lion.

    Look in /var/folders
    In my case /var/folders/zz/blahblahlbah/T/.XMSandbox-tmp/Users/userid/Root
    rebooting got rid of them

  • What happened to the Adobe CS updates

Do you remember Adobe said late last year that they will be updating their CS3 apps for Leopard in February. Well I'd like to know what happened!
I still have my Photoshop bugs and Indesign does not "hide" itself when asked.

Do you remember Adobe said late last year that they will be updating their CS3 apps for Leopard in February. Well I'd like to know what happened!
You're asking the wrong crowd. Visit Adobe's forums to post this question. You'll have much better luck getting an answer there than here.
Not to hijack your thread but when is CS4 coming out?
No one here will know that answer, either. It's pretty safe to say though since CS3 just came out a few months ago, I wouldn't expect to see CS4 for at least another year.

  • What happened to the infected files found by ClamXav?

I ran a scan with ClamXav and found 15 infected files - Trojan and Phishing. I was told to rerun the scan with Quarantine turned on if I wanted to remove the files, which I di. The second scan found no infected files. I ran a third scan and still no infected files. Where are the infected files. Did ClamXav delete them? If so, what damage has been done to the mailboxes? If all the infected files were in Trash, does that make the situation better?

    Hangar 8 wrote:
The first time I ran the scan ClamXav found the 15 infected files and quarantine was not turned on. There was a message to turn quarantine on if I wanted to remove the files
Actually, the message says "You can either deal with them yourself, or scan again with the preferences set to move them into a different folder."
I much prefer to deal with each file individually, rather than allow ClamXav to move anything, especially if I'm scanning e-mail content for malware or phishing. That prevents damage to my mailboxes and also allows me to check to see if the phishing e-mails are correct or false positives. In my case, almost all the phishing e-mails were incorrectly identified as such.  As long as it doesn't find too many files I simply control-click / right-click on the identified file, select "Reveal In Finder" for e-mail, "Delete" for files that I'm certain are malware and "Quarantine" for those I'm not sure of and what to research.
at the time, I thought removing them was a good idea. So I reran the scan with quarantine turned on but it found no infected files. ClamXav must have deleted the infected files when I closed the program after the first scan. Is that what it is supposed to do? If so, were they placed in a folder and which one?
When you turned quarantine on in the ClamXav preferences, there was also a button to "Set quarantine folder..." after which it should have listed the path to that folder under "Quarantine infected files to:". In that same preference is another button which will "Open quarantine folder".
All that being said, I was unable to repeat your results. I ran the first scan which identified the test virus, turned quarantine on and the test virus stayed where it was first found.  I ran a second scan where it was again identified, the status said "Quarantined" and when I opened the quarantine folder it was there. ClamXav takes great pains to exclude your quarantine folder, so anything that was moved to it will not be subsequently identified. So if those files are not in your quarantine folder, I have no idea where they went. You can look in your trash can, but they should not be there either.
If you remember the names of any of the files you can try finding them using Find Any File (Spotlight will probably not find them).
Lastly, I would encourage you to take future questions like this to the ClamXav Forum where you will find answers to most questions (although not all of this one) and maybe even get faster answers than here.

  • Log and Transfer - what happens to the source files?

I'm an experienced FCE4 user, but am using Log and Transfer for the first time with my new Canon Vixia HF M30 camera. Icons for the converted files are showing up in the Browser in FCE4, but where are the underlying converted flies? I didn't copy them from the camcorder to my hard drive when I started the process.

Log and Transfer behaves the same way as Capture. The files are transferred to the Capture Scratch folder on your scratch disk.

  • What happens to the music files when I delete iTunes?

OK, I have iTunes and over the years I have moved files about and tried to organize and back up stuff! And now it seems like I have three of each track showing in iTunes. Some of these, when you click on you get an exclamation mark and a file can't be found! Now to go through it one would be labourious and very very time-consuming.
So if I straight up uninstall, and hunt down any reference to iTunes on my PC, what will happen to all my music files? Do they go in the uninstall? Am I best backing them up to another hard drive for safe keeping first? (I'll probably do that any way) Or are they safe where they are until I reinstall iTunes? Will this fix my deadlinks and duplaicate problem?
    Many thanks

Uninstalling iTunes will not delete your music files.  However, other things will, such as a hard drive failure or physical damage.  So yes, you should always have a backup of your valuable music.

  • What happened to the Adobe Photoshop Exchange?

This is what I have bookmarked for the Exchange: https://creative.adobe.com/addons
It used to have the option of choosing a category (e.g. brushes, styles, actions) and return a large list of addons, many of them free and many of them applicable to Elements as well as CS. Now there is no option to select a category; just a search box. When I enter "brushes" it returns just a handful where it used to return many dozens. The five brush sets I downloaded long ago are no longer there. For example, the Return to Eden clouds brush set I had bookmarked at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/exchange/index.cfm?event=extensionDetail&loc=en_us&extid=1041 011
Now when I click this it goes to the above creative.adobe.com link and the Return to Eden clouds set is not there.

    Mark,
    Instructions for Dropbox
The Public folder lets you easily share single files in your Dropbox. Any file you put in this folder gets its own Internet link that you can share with others -- even non-Dropbox users!
Step 1:  Drop a file into the Public folder.
Step 2:  Right-click this file, then choose Dropbox > Copy Public Link. This copies an Internet link to your file that you can paste anywhere: emails, instant messages, blogs, etc.
That's it! To share your file, just send the link to a friend.

  • Missing iPhone backup in iTunes from iOS5 update. What happens to the backup files from the update process?

My PC had a BSOD while restoring my data.  After I restarted, opened iTunes, and connected my phone, the restore did not resume. (I have seen the restore process resume after an interruption.)  I tried to manually restore the data, but iTunes does not list the backup that was taken during the update process.  Is this backup stored in a different location or format?  Is there a way I can get my data back?  I tried an extraction tool from the web and it didn't detect the backup from the update.

Same with me; I only found one backup dating back from august; tried that and works fine. But missing all my pics/vids in between. I have been searching my pc for files that were created on the day of the OS upgrade, but could not figure out any backups...
    Any help?

  • What happened to the "Adobe RGB" choice that I had in the print module in the Beta Version?

My first experience with LIghtroom was through the Beta 3 version of the program. After much trial and error, I was finally able to produce acceptable prints by using the following  settings:
    Printer Manages colours
    Profile - Adobe RGB
    Rendering Intent - Perceptual
My printer is an HP Photosmart Pro B 9180.
I just bought the new Version 3 Lightroom. I have had a disastrous experience trying to print photos. I no longer have the choice of using Adobe RGB as the profile, and everything I have tried has resulted in ablolutely horrible prints. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting my prints to look like the image I have on the screen? ( the monitor is calibrated using the Spyder 3 Pro)
Thanks for any advice you may have for me.
    Sue

    In the printer 'properties',
press the 'colour' tab and that gives you the
    option 'application manages
colours' which means the printer colour management is turned off and lightroom is now managing the colours. Terry

  • What happened to the Help files?

My downloaded Aperture Trial has an empty Help menu.
Anyone know where the documentation went? I can't find the keyboard shorcut PDF, the book, etc ...

But it is a mistake. It should be included, but it is another 27MB. And the samples also seems to not be included.

  • In case of a DB crash what happens to the status of the Control File

When a DB is crashed will the Control file that exists in the OS also get corrupted, What happens to the Data Files , how to recover the Control files and Data Files , the DB in case there isn't any Backup media or any Dump available on the DB.

The only one way to recover a database is to be in archivelog mode.
And if I said about recover stricto sensu, that's because even in noarchivelog mode we need to use the command recover until cancel before an open with resetlogs option, even if we haven't any redo/archive logs. That fake a recover, this is what we say a mimic recover. Which is not a recover stricto sensu like it can be the case with archivelog mode.

  • What does the open file dialog do 'under the hood' and is there a way to simulate it

What does the open file dialog do 'under the hood' and is there a way to simulate it?
I have a bug in my code (that I've posted about before, here) which I can't fix at the moment, but I do have a workaround.
    Briefly, the bug:
I call a dll from a function node, to initialise and run a spectrometer. If I start up the PC, LabVIEW and run my vi the code runs without complaint, the first call to the dll to initialise the spectrometer doesn;t return an error but the spectrometer is not detected either.
I've tried various solutions, see the link above, and none work
    The workaround:
If, at any time before running the code containing the function node I open an 'open file' dialog window, select the dll and click ok/hit enter then everything is fine. When I run the main code the spectrometer is detected.
I use an express vi to open the file dialog, I specify the start path and file name as constant inputs and just click ok/hit return when the dialog pops up. I don't do anything with the dialog outputs. In fact the vi that contains the open file dialog can be run before the project containing the bug is even open.
I have to do this everytime I turn the PC on.
    So, either
    1) Can somewone suggest a fix for the original bug?
    2) What is the easiest way to simulate the enter keypress when the open file dialog pops up
    or
    3) Can someone tell me what the open file dialog does under the hood that somehow causes the dll to work and can it be simulated in straight LabVIEW
I suspect that the dll itself is dodgy ( I have in the past talked to the supplier but not got very far, and I will try again but I would like a quick, temporary solution too). I'm guessing that the file dialog is making some kind of check on the file, and possibly registering its presence with the OS (winXP). I tried using the file/folder exists vi to see if checking the file like that worked but no luck.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Dave

    Hi David
I am very conscious about thread hijacking but this sounded like my issue so I hope you dont mind me asking about your issue. I am hoping that you have a spectrometer from the same vendor as me and its not just me seeing an Error 1097 issue. My spectrometer is from a company called Stellarnet.
So far I have unable to get it to work with other VIs. There is one condition where I can get it to work but its no good for me.
    Case 1
I open the VI in a fresh labview environment with no other VIs in memory. The code runs with no issue.
    Case 2
Labview is not opened. I double click the spectrometer VI in windows explorer.  The VI opens but it fails to run resulting in Error 1097. Personally, I dont see the difference between this and Case 1 above and yet it fails.
    Case 3
If I already have other VI's in memory and try to load the spectrometer VI and run it fails with Error 1097. This case is the one that most important to me. I have a test executive that will load test VIs dynamically and I can't get this to work. Same problem Error 1097.
I wanted to share what I have seen with you and to let you know that maybe somebody else has the same issue. I am convinced its the DLL but the vendor dis-agreed saying it was LabVIEW. I couldn't convince him otherwise.
    Thanks in advance
    David

  • My mac disk is full and i cant transfer files from Mac to USB. saying the format is not good, how can i change the format and what happened to the files i have on USB?

my mac disk is full and i cant transfer files from Mac to USB. saying the format is not good, how can i change the format and what happened to the files i have on USB?

Once something similar happened to me. The external drives I had set up for FCP to use for some reason were not mounted, and FCP put all its render files on the main drive and I couldn't find them anywhere.
Go to applications, and control-click (and hold down) on your FCP icon; you should get a pop up menu that says "show package contents". Select that, select the "contents" folder, then the "mac OS" folder. See if your quicktime file is in there, or if you've got render files in the "render" folder or audio render files in the "audio render" folder that don't belong there.
That's where FCP sticks stuff when your documents FCP project folders are not available or when external drives you've selected aren't available.
