What happened to the Mcafee Site Advisor?

I installed firefox 5.0 and now my mcafee site advisor is gone..I don't feel safe without it...The web pages i click on DO NOT show anything..I'm not thrilled about this Firefox:( What happened?

The McAfee Site Advisor 3.3.1 extension was the number 2 cause of crashes in one of the Firefox 5.0 betas and Mozilla Blocklisted it. That extension is disabled in Firefox 5, Firefox 6.0beta, and Firefox 7.0alpha versions. McAfee is working on a new re-written version of the Site Advisor extension to fix their problems - ETA is mid to end of July.
• The McAfee site advisor used to work brfore but no longer does with the new version of Firefox. How do I revert to the olderversion or get the McAfee site advisor to work?

The McAfee site advisor used to work before with earlier versions of Firefox but now no longer does since upgrading to the latest version. It still works with Explorer so it a Firefox version compatibility issue with McAfee. The PC runs on Microsoft Vista.

I am sure that it is only their toolbar that is incompatible. To verify that and ask if they currently support Firefox 5 with their add-ons, go to the following address and post your question(s). Changing their toolbars to be compatible with any browser is their responsibility.

Other than the toolbar, the rest of your security application should be working as expected, but you can also ask that question at the above link. Firefox has built-in malware/phishing protection, if that is what is provided by their toolbar, another question that you can ask at the above link.

• Downloaded Fiefox 5 and the McAfee site advisor is no longer visible

''duplicate thread - continue here - https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/857903''
My McAfee comes with o2 and the site adviser (the little green shield) always showed clearly in previous versions of Firefox but now it doesn't show at all.
Hope this explanation is enough to go on. It certainly mades me feel more secure when I could see the grren site advisor.
It works perfectly on Google Chrome but i like using FireFox

McAfee Site Advisor is blocklisted by Mozilla. The Site Advisor extension was the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it.

McAfee is supposedly working on a re-written version. The '''original projection was''' that it would be available in the 3rd week of July, which of course has now come and gone. Latest information is that their fix will be released near the end of August. They seem to not care about the inconvenience to their users.

• Hi, I have installed ff 5, but the mcafee site advisor doesn't work (it did tell me this - sorry!). How can I reinstall v4.0.1 please? thank you

Does exactly what it says on the tin innit

McAfee have taken the decision to rewrite the Firefox SiteAdvisor plugin to make it easier to update. This should ensure that Mozilla's fast-release schedule does not cause lengthy delays after future version updates. What it means for Firefox now though is that until the rewrite is complete - and tested - SiteAdvisor is being prevented from loading in Firefox in order to avoid the possibility of software incompatibility.
The SA rewrite is projected to take a few weeks to complete and test; it should be ready by about the third week of July, although the exact date is not being given at this stage. It could be earlier.
In the meantime, users who are concerned about the safety of websites may wish to consider WOT as a temporary substitute. WOT ratings are set by user consensus rather than by automated site testing, so WOT is not a full replacement for SiteAdvisor. It is, however, a good rating tool in its own right (I use both it and SiteAdvisor in all my browsers) and is apparently unaffected by the upgrade to FF5.
There is a discussion about this on the McAfee forums [https://community.mcafee.com/message/194743#194743 HERE]

• When will Firefox have a solution for the 'McAfee site advisor' problem in the new version 5 of the browser?

I love Firefox and always keep it updated with the latest version, but the new version 5 keeps saying that McAfee Site Adviser will be disabled when I upgrade. So, I haven't downloaded the upgrade. I also love and depend on my site adviser and I'm not willing to loose it. Is Firefox working on a solution for this problems and if so, when do they expect to have a solution in place?

• I just upgraded to Firefox 4--what happened to the secure site icon at bottom of page?

I just upgraded from Firefox 3.6 to 4. There used to be a secure site icon at bottom right of secure pages. Clicking on the icon opened a window with all security info for that page. Now there is no icon. To get the same info I now have to click on the button in the address bar and then click again on the "more information" button. This is not intuitive and seems like a step backward. Is there a way to bring back the old secure site icon?

The padlock is no longer a part of Firefox; it can give users a false sense that a site is secure by not supplying all of the information about a site. Familiarize yourself with the '''''Site Identity Button''''' in Firefox:
*http://www.dria.org/wordpress/archives/2008/05/06/635/

• After updating aurora/firefox to most updated versions i find the mcafee site advisor does not work , but after rolling back the versions it does .

.....

Most security software only supports the current release and even that can take some time after Firefox has been updated.
If you expect Firefox to work properly all the time then you should stay with the release version and to use nightly builds that are updated every day or weekly in the case of the Beta channel.

• What happened to the nike walking Site

What happened to the Walking site? I have not been able to connect for over a year and have not been able to find it on the web. I am NOT a runner nor do I have any desire to be one. If Nike can no longer support its Walking users than you should not have offered the app on iPod in the first place.
I hope this has been resolved and it has been my over site of not locating the site.
Very dissapointed, I can not even submit an email to support, because I cant even find it on their website.

• Trouble with McAfee site advisor

My computer is set to automatically update to the latest version of Firefox, but everytime I do this the site advisor doesn't update with the latest version. I've tried downloading it again, and nothing happens. I've gotten two viruses because of this, and I could have avoided this is I had the site advisor working. What do I need to do to fix this?

If you feel you need the McAfee Site Advisor, don't use a Beta version of Firefox. Firefox 8.0 is a Beta version, it won't be released until Nov 8th.

• McAfee Site Advisor add on causes Firefox to operate slowly, wht can be done?

Running Win 8.1 on a new Dell.
McAfee Site advisor is enabled and causes Firefox to run slowly and in fits and starts.
When I disable Mcafee site advisor Firefox runs fine.

Hi Richard,
Unfortunately, extensions such as Site Advisor are known to slow-down Firefox. Often, poor memory utilization is the cause; this can lead to slow start-up, crashing, and general slowness loading webpages.
In my opinion, Site Advisor is completely unnecessary, as Firefox includes built-in phishing and malware protection already (see [[How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work?]])
In addition, some search engines such as duckduckgo.com have an option to enable Web of Trust (mywot.com) ratings alongside search results without the need for additional add-ons. In your case, I think this would be the best option for you.

• I am running Firefox 5, McAfee Site advisor is blocked. I contacted McAfee and they said it won't work with Firefox 5 and that I should use an ealier version of FF or use IE. Is there a patch coming to allow Site Advisor to work on FF 5?

As above McAfee apparently feels the fault is with FF. I will admit that under the latest 3 version it worked fine. I skipped version 4 because of some things a read about it. I did go with FF5.

The McAfee Site Advisor add-on is blocklisted by Mozilla due to that Site Advisor extension being the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/
I have read that McAfee is working on a re-written version that is projected to be available in the 3rd week of July.
Quite honestly, with McAfee taking the position that this problem is with Firefox or is Mozilla's fault, when that add-on has a long history of being [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problematic_extensions PROBLEMATIC], I have lost the little respect I had for McAfee being a respectable, ethical company. ''Of course, my level of respect for McAfee was low to begin with due to problems I had with their software 10 years ago causing me to re-format my PC bi-weekly immediately after their security scans on a Win98 PC, and haven't used their stuff since once I discovered their software was causing my problem with lost video card drivers repeatedly.''

• When I start to download the new Firefox 5.0, I get a message that says it is not compatable with my add-on 'McAfee Site Advisor'. What are my options? I prefer to have the site advisor.

I do not know much about add-ons so I don't know how to get around this without losing McAfee Site Advisor.

See McAfee for an updated version of that Site Advisor add-on. Hopefully they have it completed, as they have been promising it for the 3rd week of July ever since Firefox 5.0 was released on June 21.

• What happens to iweb-built site when I upgrade from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3), and subsequently upgrade to 10.6.8 or even 10.7? Will fonts stay the same? Will layout change? Or anything else change? Thanks

What happens to iweb-build site when I upgrade from Leopard (10.5.8) to Snow Leopard (10.6.3) and subsequently update that to 10.6.8 or even to 10.7? Evidently iweb has been discontinued. I have version 3.0.3 of iweb now but understand that there's been an update for OS 10.6 so same question goes for this update.
Will fonts change? Will layout change? Will widgets still work? Links? Will Google Analytics PlugIn still work?
(Since MobileMe is disappearing, I now save iweb site to local folder on my computer, then upload it to GoDaddy using Cyberduck. I run Google Analytics plug in on folder before its uploaded.)
My computer, MacBook Pro came with iweb, which has been updated to 3.0.3. Since iweb is discontinued, will upgrade of operating system just ignore iweb so that iweb will run the same as before? Or will it wipe it out? Or change how it currently works (questions above).
Thanks

As you now know iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Hit counter
◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
Currently if the site is published directly from iWeb to the 3rd party server the RSS feed and slideshow subscription features will work. However, if the site is first published to a folder on the hard drive and then uploaded to the sever with a 3rd party FTP client those two features will be broken.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. How to is described in this tutorial: iW14 - Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store. To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

• When we do a failover to a Replica, what happened to the connected clients? Assuming that the Replica is located in a remote DR site with a different IP configuration.

When we do a failover to a Replica, what happened to the connected clients? Assuming that the Replica is located in a remote DR site with a different IP configuration.
Hi,
I need some guidance here, please.
I have some questions about replication:
When we do a failover to a Replica, what happened to the connected clients? Assuming that the Replica is located in a remote DR site with a different IP configuration.
Is possible to automate the failover process? Just like happens in a cluster.
What changes do I need to do in order to guarantee that my clients reach my replica? For example, I need to do a failover to my Exchange Server Replica and I need to minimize the downtime. The same applies for a DC or a SharePoint Server
Thanks in advanced.

Hi efebo,
“The same applies for a DC ”
As for replicating virtualized DC (Personally, I do not suggest to replicate DC , even though it can be replicate ), please refer to following link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn250021.aspx
"In short, Exchange does
not support the Hyper-V Replica feature. Exchange has a long history of supporting virtualisation from
Exchange 2003 onwards. It is fully supported to install Exchange
2007,
2010 or
2013 as a virtual machine on Hyper-V, but using the Hyper-V replica feature is not supported.
For details please refer to following link:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/rmilne/archive/2013/07/29/exchange-and-hyper-v-replica-support.aspx
I assuming that the "Remote DR site" and the primary site both have public IPs .
Based on my knowledge you can not access replica site VM directly after a disaster , maybe you need to rebuild primary site and replicate VM back .
