What happened to the music in my itunes?

I went to put more music on my ipod touch 4g and the only music that was on it was what i purchased. Last time i used itunes everything was there. ***?

A handful of people report this issue.  Not enough for anybody to actual post a complete scenario which might help anybody figure out why, and it is unlikely it is anything Apple could resolve since it clearly isn't happening to all iTunes users.  Your best recourse it to always maintain an up-to-date backup of your computer so it is relatively painless restoring your iTunes library.

What happened to the power search in itunes?

Why? Indeed, is a very good question. Why take the most useful tool for finding music and bury it (in the case of version 10) or eliminate it (if you upgrade to version 11).   I think ignorance is too generous an answer to this question.
Rather, I believe this is a cynical marketing ploy to steer you into buying WHAT THEY SUGGEST, instead of WHAT YOU REALLY WANT.  Most vendors would be content to just advertise their suggestions, which you can pass by if you really know what you want. But for I-Tunes to willfully take away your ability to go directly to what you want is a sad insult to the buying public.
Also, they probably feel that power search is too effective in revealing what I-Tunes DOESN'T have available.
By all means, follow the advice given above - provide I-Tunes with the feedback that is sorely due.

  • What happened to the sidebar view in iTunes 12.0?

What happened to the sidebar view in iTunes 12.0?

"Switch to Songs view.  Everything will be much clearer"
I have no use for Songs view.  I always use Albums view (personal preference  - I think of my library as a collection of albums, not of songs), but never had any problem at all with the use of the top-left icons in iTunes 12.  Indeed, I much prefer the iTunes 12 version of the sidebar - ironically, for the reason that some seem to object to it: it doesn't clutter up a standardized listing of my library content with device-related information, and does not change if I connect an iDevice.  In general, the only interaction I need at the device level is the Eject function - all content syncing is controlled through playlists associated with each device I use (which, of course, are visible and can be modified whether a device is connected or not).  I only need to see the details of a device on the rare occasions I want to make a change to its behavior with respect to synchronization.

  • What happened to the "options" button in iTunes 5?

    Hello -
I just upgraded from a 4G 20G to a 60GB. Now I want iTunes to not transfer unchecked songs.
What happened to the options button that used to reside at the bottom of iTunes? And where do I control iTunes to not transfer unchecked songs?
    Thanks in advance.

Nevermind, I finally found the tab. Silly Apple...

  • What happened to the AIFF conversion in iTunes?

We have always converted mp3 files after getting a song from iTunes to AIFF files in order to use them in Final Cut.  Under the "Advanced" tab in iTunes there is a drop down for "Creat AIFF File".  Now, that seems to be gone and there is only a selection for "Create an AAC file".  What happened to AIFF conversion?  If I convert to AAC, when I go to import the song to Final Cut, it is greyed out and won;t let me selevt AAC songs.  What happened?  Is this a change in the new OS "Upgrade?

Under the "Advanced" tab in iTunes there is a drop down for "Creat AIFF File".  Now, that seems to be gone and there is only a selection for "Create an AAC file".
That suggests that your Importing preferences are currently set to AAC rather than AIFF.
If you adjust your importing preferences, do you get "Create AIFF version" back?

  • What happened to the iphone's own itunes appstore ? ?

Under iOS 5, there is no more proper itunes appstore icon present, it's now integrated inside of the new Music ( ex iPod ) app, through the top [Store] Button.
Works for my friends who updated their 3GS and 4 models, they get a newly designed access to the music store platform.
As for me, not that lucky ........ On my 3GS the button is also present and clickable, but nothing happens here.
Compared all the Settings with those other installs, nothing different, mystery .....
Any suggestions from whoever noticed this change of paradigme ? ( None of my friends & colleagues ever noticed the elimination of the iTunes app icon, I might be in a minority of people buying from time to time music directly on the phone, haven't seen any iOS 5 related articles mentioniong this "novelty" )

I know about the "separation" of duties concerning music and vidoe libraries, the point is that the itunes icon does no longer exist with iOS5, checked it with all my friends devices.
The "integrated" Store access inside of the Music Library works for everyone except for me, checked all my restrictions, but none apply to this case. my account is present and I'm authorized.
Just seems to be a bug.
Going to wait for the next update then, since there is no easy way to force a new install of iOS 5.

  • HT201303 What happened to the music I paid for and downloaded to my Ipod?

I downloaded a new album to my older ipod where I had credit of $29.99   I hasn't downloaded onto the ipod which was connected to mycomputer

If I am coming into a previous thread apologies.
Open iTunes and sign in to the iTunes store with the same credentials that you purchased the music with.
Select the purchased icon or word and iTunes will list all your previous music purchases and allow you to download them again.
If you have not deleted the music it must be on the computer but redownloading may be easier than finding them.

  • What happen to the "info tab" in iTunes V11.1.3?

The "info tab" in the latest version of iTunes is no where to be found. Unable to sync Mail, Contact and Calender!

Did you connect your device and click on its name in the tap right hand corner?
    Are you using iOS 10.9?

  • What happens to the music files when I delete iTunes?

OK, I have iTunes and over the years I have moved files about and tried to organize and back up stuff! And now it seems like I have three of each track showing in iTunes. Some of these, when you click on you get an exclamation mark and a file can't be found! Now to go through it one would be labourious and very very time-consuming.
So if I straight up uninstall, and hunt down any reference to iTunes on my PC, what will happen to all my music files? Do they go in the uninstall? Am I best backing them up to another hard drive for safe keeping first? (I'll probably do that any way) Or are they safe where they are until I reinstall iTunes? Will this fix my deadlinks and duplaicate problem?
    Many thanks

Am I best backing them up to another hard drive for safe keeping first? (I'll probably do that any way) Or are they safe where they are until I reinstall iTunes?
Uninstalling iTunes will not delete your music files.  However, other things will, such as a hard drive failure or physical damage.  So yes, you should always have a backup of your valuable music.

  • What happened to the music on my iPod?

I use an FM connection to play my iPod through my cars speakers. When I went to change a song I moved the hold button off. But my iPod was still in lock. I tried everything to get it to unlock but nothing happened. But when I plugged my iPod into the connection to my car the lock icon went off and everything worked fine. When I tried it again later today. My iPod turned on but gave me the X and told me to come here. But the second time I checked to see if it still gave me the message I turned it on and there was no music or videos on it, but worked fine. Even though my iPod is saying that it has 7.3GB's of other on it.
    Can someone help me please?
I would hate to plug it into iTunes and lose all of my stuff on it.

    If your iPod still has the files on it, but it's not showing them under songs, I think you can do this;
    First, Set it to Disk Mode by;
Hold, then un-Hold (the switch at the top). Now hold down the Menu and Select buttons at once. iPod should turn off. When it's turning back on (it does this automatically), hold down Select and Play/Pause. This enters Disk Mode.
    Now, Plug In and Delete;
Access the iPod as a hard drive and delete everything there. Make sure you can see the iPod_Control folder - delete that as well.
    Finally;
Eject the iPod Drive, and hold down Menu and Select to exit disk mode. Let it reboot, connect to your computer, use iTunes to restore. Then, reload your music onto your iPod using your iTunes library.
    Hope this helps!

  • What happened to the Music Choice Channels?

    Hello,
We awoke this morning to find out the our Music Choice Channels were replaced with Sting ray!  What's up with that?  Also, what the heck is U-verse Elite?  When I was check Sting Ray, it told me I need U-verse Elite to continue.  I hit okay and it downloaded the channels ... Is this adding cost to U-verse 300 programming?  If so, how do I change it?
    Thank to all who answer!
    Dennis
U-verse Elite is an internet speed program which allows downloads up to 6 mbps. I am not sure what you are referring to when you are talking about downloading channels. I see Stingray right now on television. I assume you are talking about your computer or smart phone. Since I am not a techie, I will let one of the other forum members answer your question.
As far as Stingray, itself, I am find it difficult to navigate. Music Choice was easy. With Stingray, you cannot just change channels in order to watch or listen to it. You have to hit "OK" on your remote when you get to the channel. Even then, it takes a while to actually get the channel while you wait for the circle to stop circling.
Changing music channels is all done with the "OK", the left and right arrow buttons, and the up and down arrows. You sort of have to experiment around to get the hang of it. I still cannot figure out how to get out of Stingray other than turning off U-Verse and then turning it back on. I tried the "Back" button on the remote and the up and down channel button. Neither worked.
It really does not matter to me at this point that Stingray is more complicated than Music Choice. I do not have U-verse for music, I have it for television and internet.
Just press Exit to TV to exit to the 51xx channel, like it says at the bottom as I'm seeing now.  You're actually going into the Stingray app when you choose a channel.
You can get the app menu like the app by pressing the Back button, to choose to go to another channel.
Really pretty simple to navigate and they put instructions at the bottom of the screen.

  • What happened to the Sync button in iTunes 11?

I don't see a sync button in the new iTunes, nor does it individually list the podcasts that are downloading. They are all lumped together.
These seem like losses of functionality, but maybe I'm doing it wrong.
Do I really have to go to the menu to sync my podcasts?
Is there a way to see which ones are downloading?

I had the same issue, and didn't have to reboot to get it to reappear. I couldn't find it either, and knew i had used it before on my ipad mini. I closed my podcast app (Which was paused on a podcast) and closed the itunes store app, and the itunes radio tab reappeared. it must have something to do with the other apps that are open...that's why turning your ipad off and then back on fixes it. It closes whatever app is preventing the radio tab from showing up.

  • What happened to the equalizer in my iTunes? (v10.5)  I click on "view", and the option to show or hide is not there.

Like i said, it used to be immediately visible.  I added a different audio source a while ago, that source stopped working with the last couple updates of iTunes, and suddenly i realize the Equalizer is nowhere to be found when i click on "View".  Thanks for any help you can offer.  ~Mike
