What happened to the sound effects in Garageband after in app purchase of $4.99 expansion pack?

I purchased a brand new MacBook Pro OS Mavericks and promptly began using Garageband 10.0.2. There were many sound effects provided in the program (thunder, galloping horses, etc.), and I decided to complete the in app purchase. Once I completed the download and install, I realized that I no longer had those sound effects. Does any one know what happened to them?

Galloping Horses and thunder are not part of the GarageBand sound effects. You have probably other loop packages installed, for example the Final Cut Pro Sound Effects or the iLife Sound Effects.
Check, how your Loop Browser is set. The pop-up menu at the top of the Loop Browser should be set to "Loops" to have all loops available. Set the "Scale" to any, clear the search field. In the GarageBand Preferences, "Loops" pane disable "Keyword Browsing", filter for more relevant results.
Now you should be able to see all installed loops. If not, use the command "Reindex all Loops" from the "Loops" pop-up menu.

If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.

If they are both using the same iCloud ID (assuming you are running your mail from iCloud), then yes, the email will disappear from your Mac after you delete it from your phone and after your phone sycs with iCloud and your Mac syncs with iCloud.
I use a windows phone, but it works the same.

What happens when the multiply effect is applied to both the object and the graphic within?

I could really use some help with this...
I'm getting a booklet ready to be printed. Originally, half of the pages were to be printed on paper with a (physical) colour. For budget reasons however, I've now decided to print the paper colour, and have the content of the pages overprinted on the tint in the background, which I've applied to the pages in the background of an additional master page.
When I set the objects to multiply, they blend with the background colour, which is the effect I'm looking for, as there would be no 'paper white' on the pages that I want to appear as though printed on coloured paper.
There's something confusing me though; you can also set the graphic within the object frame to multiply. This makes the graphic appear darker, which I don't really understand, since there is no extra colour within the graphic that accounts for this. I've looked at the output in the resulting pdf, and it looks like it's not just an on-screen effect, but the extra amount of (in this case) yellow would also be visible in the printed result.
Does anyone have an explanation for this? Please see the graphic for a visual example.

When importing what happens to the sound?

whenever i import a file from my computer, not from a camera, the sounds doesnt come with it. how do i make the sound import with the video?

i have tried a few of them but none of them work.
mpegs need conversion to "dv", that is iM's native format (as on miniDV tapes)

you didn't gave as any additinal info about these "files"...- what is the suffix? .avi, .wmv, .mov, .mpg? do you own QTpro?=>open file/hit Apple-J, tell us about the codec....

What happened to the sound on incoming phone calls and other notifications???

I have my sound on "Loud (Active)" as I always do and then all of the sudden it stops making any sounds or chimes when I receive calls, emails, texts or facebook notifications. My calls and ect. are still coming thru, but just completely silent. I have to look at my screen to see I have a call coming thru and wait for the little red light at the top to see if I have any text messages and whatnot. Does anyone know why this could be happening? Now during the workday I will probably end up missing important phone calls and playing phone tag with people.
Any help would be appreciated

I have the same problem, the only thing by me is its on and off could be a few days that it should work and then all of the sudden it stops

System Preferences: Sound: Output: Internal Speakers
No sound through internal speakers.
No sound if I plug in earphones.
I hear the start-up chime, but nothing else.
The volume up/down keys act as if they work fine.
Any ideas?

When I try to startup iTunes (9.0.3), I get the error message:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (-200)."
I tried (twice) to reinstall iTunes, but I get the following error:
"The installation failed. The Installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."

I did most everything you suggested (well, attempted to, anyway), and more. I used Apple's Hardware test, which indicated that my hardware was hunky-dory. But when I got to the part about archiving and installing, the installation failed. Twice.

I finally called Tech Support (LOVE those guys!), who loved that I had documented all the troubleshooting I had done, along with the error messages. Noah told me that I should have called after I could not re-install iTunes.
Noah was VERY VERY happy that I had done a recent backup (3 days earlier), since most of his callers do NOT. Tsk, Tsk!
Did you know you can do a full restore from Time Machine? I thought you also had to have the system disks, but I didn't. (Turns out the OS disk was faulty).
Anyway, after the TM restore, the clouds parted, and smiles returned to my face.

What happened to the special effects from the old iMovie (Smoke, Rain, etc.) It's not on the new version and I need/want it!

I remember older versions of iMovie having special video effects like smoke, lightning, and rain. Where are they hiding in the new version? If they are no longer included is there a download or work around? I need them for a school project I'm helping my 11 year old with.

Workaround? I did these effects on my iPhone and then imported to my Mac for editing. I have lightning, but no smoke or rain. I used an iPhone App called Action Movie.

I don't know why they released the news that they were going to develop a new card at the exact same moment they released the audigy 4 pro. I think sales of the audigy 4 pro won't be that overwhelming and maybe they're waiting to release it to sell more audigy 4 pro's. I mean who would still want to buy a audigy 4 pro, that is still based on an older bus if you have a soundcard available that already uses the new pci-E x bus. Matters get worse as reviews point out that the audigy 4 pro is nothing more than a slightly ameliorated audigy 2 zs platinum pro(better DAC-chip), this also shows in the price that is almost the same as that of the zs plat pro. I hope however they will release the zenith in the next 3 months.
It would be the ideal moment. Harddisk manufacturers will be bringing out some new SATA300 hd's(nice for people who have a mobo with a sata300 controller on it), samsung was the first a few days ago. But for the moment harddisks can't transfer data as fast as sata300 can take, so I hope manufacturers find a solution for this. The dri've that would be the first to come close is the raptor, it's 0.000 rpm so faster access etc. I'm waiting because of it.

btw, i got this reply from another poster, on a similar forum, so i copied it here to see if it would work for you...it didn't for me, but it did, for many other posters:
Go to applications/utilities and run Audio Midi Setup. Click the Builtin output link in the left pane click the down arrow next to the right-mast element after "Format" and change to something else, then back to what you originally had there. All pent-up sounds will come rushing through your speakers and you'll be OK with Mail sounds until it happens again. This worked for me in OS X 10.7 Lion; the problem seems to have been fixed in OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Good luck!

Just wondering what happened to the pencil tool because using it garageband would allow me to play through programs like amplitube or guitar rig and record with the effects. I know that garage band now has the amp modeling but I still prefer some of the other programs. Any suggestions how to work around this or did apple just leave out the feature?

What happens when the light goes off on an express airport router?

I was on the internet using a wireless connection with an express airport and suddenly I heard a sound and the light on the router went competelly off. I would like to know what happened. I unplugged the airport and plugged in again on another outlet but nothing happens. The airport has about 3 or 3.5 years.

It's not possible to know exactly what happened within the AirPort Express unless you carefully saw the case open along the seams to examine the internal components.
It's likely that something in the power supply section has failed since the device will not power up. Repairs...if possible.....would likely cost more than the cost of a replacment Express, but if you are handy with small electronics repairs, you could poke around a bit to take a look for something obvious.

Why? Indeed, is a very good question. Why take the most useful tool for finding music and bury it (in the case of version 10) or eliminate it (if you upgrade to version 11). I think ignorance is too generous an answer to this question.
Rather, I believe this is a cynical marketing ploy to steer you into buying WHAT THEY SUGGEST, instead of WHAT YOU REALLY WANT. Most vendors would be content to just advertise their suggestions, which you can pass by if you really know what you want. But for I-Tunes to willfully take away your ability to go directly to what you want is a sad insult to the buying public.
Also, they probably feel that power search is too effective in revealing what I-Tunes DOESN'T have available.
By all means, follow the advice given above - provide I-Tunes with the feedback that is sorely due.
