the office is debating what occurs after the final transport number is used. for example, after transport DEVK999999 what is next?
i'm tempted to make a catt script to find out, but i thought i'd ask first so i can keep my job.

The next request and task created will have the following number:
<b>- Request DEVK9A0000
- Task DEVK9A0001 </b>
You can check this by debugging the popup where you enter the text for a new request (include LSTR8F01, routine CREATE_REQUEST -> fm TR_INSERT_REQUEST_WITH_TASKS -> TRINT_INSERT_COMM -> routine <b>GET_NEXT_NUMBER</b>).
If you cheat the system by setting the actual number to DEVK99999 you will see the result.
The highest request number is stored in table E070L.

Display about 20% darker, Dim. Happened after last update.

My imac display is dim, kinda dark. Happened after last update and I have googled like crazy to find a solution, no luck so far. This is what i have done so far.
- I have tried several settings in the Energy Saver part of settings.
- Brightness is set to 100%
- I have tried several Display Profiles and also made my own.
- Did reset the PRAM, NVRAM several times.
- Even started it in safe boot etc..
- Reinstalled OS X completely
It seems like a software related problem. If i press sleep the screen of course goes black but the interesting thing is that when it wakes up it is back to the normal nice brightness for about 5-10 seconds then goes dim again.
Screen is at the normal brightness when using boot camp, windows.
Please if anyone has a solution, thank you.

I'm not convinced that it is a software issue, here's why: Our DVD burner stopped working so we brought it in to the local Apple store for repair. BTW the machine is 2 & 1/2 y.o. and yes, I purchased the extended warranty and I'm so glad I did (usually I pass on them). Anyway, they replaced the burner, we picked it up and when we plugged it in at home I noticed that the display was nice and bright and then went dim!
I proceeded to change the display brightness controls as well as the gamma settings. I got it to look better (still not as bright as prior to repair) but it still got bright and then dim after waking.
Since there were no software issues with the burner replacement, other than perhaps some drivers for the burner???, I attribute it to the repair!
Just my $0.02 and would welcome any suggestions as to what it is and how to resolve the issue.

I'm thinking about getting the student version of CC. My question now is, what happens after the year of subscription? Will I get any software that is able to open or even alter the my files? Someone told me that I'll get a copy of CS6. Is that correct?

No, not correct.
When you cancel your subscription, or allow it to expire, your subscription software will stop working until you re-start your membership and start paying the monthly fee again.
You pay, you use. Stop paying, software stops working.

I bought a one year subscribtion of CC through surfspot.nl because I am a teacher at NCOI, a large education institute in the Netherlands. What happens after the one year period? Do I have to renew through surfspot.nl? How do I keep my subscription and how much is it going to cost?

What happens after data is erased from the iPhone after ten passcode attempts?
Is it the same thing as Settings->General->Erase all content and settings ?
Does the iPhone essentially becomes a permanent brick, or does the iPhone appear as a fresh device that just awaits reactivating?

All the user data on your phone is encrypted. When 10 failed attempt occur, the phone just securely erases the encryption key (overwrites it multiple times), then reboots. Without the encryption key present, even though all the data is still there, it cannot be decrypted and read anymore. Its just a load of random bits, and useless. The phone will just go through it's 'factory default' setup and quick format the flash ready to be used again as if it was a completely blank brand-new phone. At no point during any of this process is the system partition (the area that stores ios4) touched, so there is no danger of the phone being "bricked".
And even if the system partition was erased, you could still restore the phone using DFU mode. It's quite difficult to permanently brick an iPhone, you can recover from most problems.

I'm thinking of signing upto a new iPhone on an 18month contract in UK
I know everything has a 1year warranty and I know you can pay extra for AppleCare, or mobile phone insurance but I wont be.
So what happens after 1st year if you get a problem with the iPhone? who is responsible? is it Apple or O2? and will it be fixed for free?

Still, the warranty is no different than any other warranty on every other product you have ever owned. It is for a specified period (one year being a good length compared to other phones/computers,etc).
Do you worry this much over every other product that you buy?
Do all of the other products that you own break right after the warranty expires?
I always get Applecare and have only had to use it once ( a cd drive on a laptop needed to be replaced).

After the sixth erroneous passcode entry a delay is imposed that increases exponentially and eventually reaches over 40 years before another attempt can be made.

The free trial is for 30 days, not 90. Just do not want you to be suprised on day 31. And as Cozmicone said a dialog will appear telling you the trial is over and you will no longer be able to run InDesign.

In windows environment, to keep state of application, i cam imagine that data is serialized and saved to a text file. On second app invocation, the data from text file is reloaded to reconstruct objects and form the last state of application.
In card environment, suppose that i have some applets on card. On card reset, i think that the boot trap method is invoked and reload data for each applet to keep it last state.
The point is, to load data, everything is done in native code, but the objects to be re-inited are at java layer. Is it feasible? Or JCRE will initialize those applets at java layer?
Could you correct my understanding and share your knowledge of something else going on after card reset? Or after card reset, JCRE doesn't do anything, objects gain its reference, class structure by card characteristics?

imagine that a javacard is a very flat arduino without I/O but only a serial port.
what happens in an arduino at startup? the user app starts and replies to commands. sometimes the bootloader can take over (that's GlobalPlatform)
the javacard is the same, even if it can holds multiple user apps.
Objects in javacard are stored in eeprom, so there is no need for serialization. These objects are non volatile by design. Only some types of arrays have data in RAM, and they must be created explicitly.
