Depends which Reset you are talking about...
The 2 listed below will cause No Loss of Content...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

If no joy...
Reset all settings

This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

  • What happens if i reset my network settings on my iphone 4s

I entered the wrong network password after my phone was replaced and now i can't access wi-fi.
What happens if i reset my network settings on my iphone 4s?

    Hi richoch3t
I have found the following information regarding resetting network settings, and what the effects are.
iPhone User Guide (For iOS 6.1 Software)
    manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
    Page 139
Reset network settings:  When you reset network settings, your list of previously used networks and VPN settings not installed by a configuration profile are removed. Wi-Fi is turned off
and then back on, disconnecting you from any network you’re on. The Wi-Fi and “Ask to Join Networks” settings remain turned on. To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > Profile, then select the profile and tap Remove. This also removes other settings or accounts provided by the profile.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • What happens when i restore my iPhone?

i was curious as to what happens when you plug your iphone into itunes and click restore.
will i lose all my contacts and pictures?
and will it make the backlight on my iphone work?

A restore may help your iphone - it is one of the troubleshooting steps. Page 141 of the manual:
"If you restore, the latest version of iPhone software is reinstalled, default settings are
restored, and data stored on iPhone is deleted, including downloaded applications,
songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. In iTunes,
you can also restore from a backup without deleting data stored on iPhone.
Deleted data is no longer accessible via the iPhone user interface, but is not
permanently erased from your iPhone until it is overwritten by new data. For
information about permanently erasing all content and settings, see “Resetting
    iPhone” on page 109. "
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
I gave you the link to the Apple article to determine hardware failure earlier. If those steps or a reset, restore don't work then you need to call or visit Apple for a replacement.

what happens when i rest my iphone 3gs ?

    iTunes will backup the device.
    The device is erased completely.
The current version of iOS is downloaded.
    iOS is then installed.
You then get an option to install the previous backup or as a New device.

    Hi tinashah817,
Was this book downloaded using iBooks, or from another application? If it was from iBooks you will need to install that application to delete it.

what happens when I reset network settings on I Phone 5?

    Hi Jim Blau1!
The answer to your question can be found in this article that you have linked, about troubleshooting iOS Wi-Fi network connections:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1398
Specifically, I believe this statement will answer your question:
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.

  • HT201559 what happens when i reset? do I lose any data?

what happens when i reset? do I lose any data? or is there any chance of losing data?

If you mean the "Press the Home and Power buttons at the same time" type of reset, then no, you do not lose anything. It's basically the same process that a computer goes through when you restart it.
You do, however, want to make sure that you always have a current backup on iCloud or iTunes.

  • What happened to 3G on my iPhone 4s?

i've had 3 iPhones, all on AT&T. My 3GS and my 4 both display two network icons: E and 3G.  but then I got my iPhone 4s, and I noticed a new icon: AT&T 4G. Ever since day one, I've only seen EDGE and 4G. What happened to the AT&T 3G network icon on the iPhone 4s? Shouldn't it say 3G as I dont think the iPhone 4s is a 4G LTE phone

a reset no data loss. hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release.
Or settings - general - reset - reset network settings.

    Tutorial: Resolving Keychain Issues
If you can't access your keychain, or forget your password If you can't get into your keychain file because you've forgotten your password or the keychain file appears to be corrupt, there are a couple of options.
First, if you've forgotten your password, you can use the "Keychain First Aid" utility to make the keychain password the same as the login password. This can be accomplished via the following process:
      1. Open Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Preferences"
      3. Click the "First Aid" tab
      4. Make sure the "Synchronize login keychain password" box is checked
      5. Close the Preferences window
      6. Go to the "Keychain Access" menu and select "Keychain First Aid"
      7. Enter your username and password
      8. Click the "Repair" button
The second option is to completely delete your keychain then recreate it. This routine is useful if your keychain appears to be corrupt or otherwise inaccessible. This can be accomplished as follows:
      1. Launch Keychain Access (located in Applications/Utilities)
      2. Click "Show Keychains" in the lower-left corner of the window.
      3. Select the problematic keychain from the left-hand pane.
      4. Navigate to the "File" menu and select "Delete Keychain '(name of keychain)'"
      5. Check all options for deletion and press "OK"
      6. Create a new keychain by going to the "File" menu, then "New" and selecting
          "New Keychain"
      7. You can now make this keychain your default if you desire by selecting it, then
going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make '(name of keychain)' Default"
Login as root and perform repair In some cases, problems with keychains can only be resolved when logged in as the root user.
First, you want to enable the root user:
      1. OS X Mountain Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      2. OS X Lion: Enable and disable the root user
      3. Mac OS X 10.6: Enabling the root user
      4. Enabling and using the "root" user in Mac OS X
After enabling the root user, and logging in under this account, again open Keychain Access. First attempt repairs using Keychain First Aid, and failing that, delete then recreate the keychain as described above while logged in as root.
Persistently asked for stored passwords If you are persistently asked for passwords in various applications that you have specified should be remembered in a keychain, your "login" keychain may not be active for one reason or another.
Navigate to ~/Library/Keychains/ (this is the Library folder inside your user's home folder). Find the file named "login.keychain" and double-click it.
Failing that, select the "login" keychain within the Keychain Access application and make sure it is the default keychain by going to the "File" menu and selecting "Make 'Login' Default"
Turn off Keychain synchronization in applications having problems If specific applications are experiencing issues when accessing password-protected material, the Keychain may be to blame.
The above comes from an article published on MacFixit.com.

  • What happens if I reset network settings on my iphone5

I've backed up my iphone5 and now I am thinking of trying to reset network settings to see if that fixes my built in camera that decided to stop working right before Christmas. What exactly happens if I reset network settings?

Reset network settings erases all saved wi-fi networks and settings and resets the cellular network connection, which has nothing whatsoever to do with the camera.

  • What happens after card reset (from JCRE perspective)?

    Hi,
In windows environment, to keep state of application, i cam imagine that data is serialized and saved to a text file. On second app invocation, the data from text file is reloaded to reconstruct objects and form the last state of application.
In card environment, suppose that i have some applets on card. On card reset, i think that the boot trap method is invoked and reload data for each applet to keep it last state.
The point is, to load data, everything is done in native code, but the objects to be re-inited are at java layer. Is it feasible? Or JCRE will initialize those applets at java layer?
Could you correct my understanding and share your knowledge of something else going on after card reset? Or after card reset, JCRE doesn't do anything, objects gain its reference, class structure by card characteristics?
    thanks,
    Hoang Long

imagine that a javacard is a very flat arduino without I/O but only a serial port.
what happens in an arduino at startup? the user app starts and replies to commands. sometimes the bootloader can take over (that's GlobalPlatform)
the javacard is the same, even if it can holds multiple user apps.
Objects in javacard are stored in eeprom, so there is no need for serialization. These objects are non volatile by design. Only some types of arrays have data in RAM, and they must be created explicitly.
