What happens if we kill SMON and PMON Back ground processes

What happens to the database if we kill SMON and PMON background processes?
I was unable to answer this, please let me know.

It's simple, If you kill them your instance crashes.
For further references on Basic Background Processes, and the reason why they must be always running as long as the instance is started, I suggest you to read Oracle Background Processes;

Oh..wait...I just asked this question due to curiosity about what happen INTERNALLY when we kill any BG process(specially mandatory).
For testing..I kill all the process in each attempt and found some similar and some different lines in alert log.

Kill CKPT:
PMON (ospid: 6553606): terminating the instance due to error 469

If you want to face what actually will happen, just make it on test environment (test db).
Then check your db status, instance will be abort.
Do you know what SMON`s purpose ?
If you_dont_know then
make it; (ps -ef | grep smon take PID, then kill -9 PID);
end if;
SMON - System Monitor process recovers after instance failure and monitors temporary segments and extents. SMON in a non-failed instance can also perform failed instance recovery for other failed RAC instance.

What happened is that version 1.0 of the security update was available for a bit of time this weekend, and that disabled Rosetta. Version 1.1 brought it back.

Assuming you mean that you performed the repair yourself, it would seem that you either obtained a defective screen or you did some sort of damage when you replaced the screen. You can try asking for assistance on ifixit.com, a site dedicate to those attempting their own repairs, or you can take the iPad to a shop and pay them to try to correct the problem for you. Apple will no longer touch your iPad now that you've attempted your own repairs.

For video, the codec is MPEG-4 Video (XVID) and for audio it says MPEG Audio Layer 1/2/3 (mpga).
There are two issues with that file:
The first is the Xvid CODEC (not meant for editing), and then the MPEG Audio/MPGA. I would convert that file, to something that is more editable.

I never had this problem before even when downloading videos. Now how can I get credit for it? I contact itunes a number of times and no one has done nothing as of yet. Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Back ground processes, dialogue processes and Process chains

Hai all,
I am going through making process chains and I am struck with one thing:
"How many background process chains and dialogue processes you have during run time"
This is the problem. I understood everything else except this.The concept says that I have to know what is the capacity of the system, how many background and dialogue processes it could accomodate, how many are left and how many you can use for your process chain.How do we find out this? and could somebody please explain me or refer to documentation about the Back ground processes, dialogue processes and Process chains.

Hi Visu,
You can see the number of dialog and background processes by using transaction SM51 and then double clicking on the server (we only have one but it may be different for each). Our BASIS folks take care of the number of processes as well. And, for us we have a schedule that changes the number at a certain time of day because you tend to need more dialog during the day but more batch at night.
The transaction to look at and change the settings is RZ03. Then use the menu path Edit->Operation Modes you can select either Configuration or Timetable here. Both give information in different ways. I tend to double click around to see what it might tell me.

What happens if a test dies and I have a TDMS file open?

Let's say I have a long test running where I'm saving data at tintervals during the test to a TDMS file. I open the file before the test and close it after the test completes. What happens to the data if something traumatic happens before I have a chance to close the file? Will the data saved up to that point be OK and retrievable?

To be on the safe side, you can use the TDMS Flush function. If your
application crashes, your machine looses power, or something else kills
the process while your app is running, the OS will close the file and
all data that hasn't been flushed yet is lost. In case your application
terminates due to an error, but doesn't crash or hang (in other words:
the VI stops running with or without having executed TDMS Close), all
open TDMS files will be closed properly with no data loss.
