What happens if you don't backup icloud in 2 weeks on your iphone?

My dad recently turned off the WiFi in my house for more than two weeks. This morning, my phone beeped at me and said alerted me that my phone had not been backed up for iCloud for 2 weeks. I wasn't eve AWARE I had iCloud and I'm not sure what to do. It has never popped up before. If I don't back it up, what will happen?

Nothing, but if for some reason the device needs to be restored there will be a lot of data missing.
The easy way around this is to either turn the Wi-Fi back on or plug the device into the computer it normally syncs with and backup the device to the computer.

  • HT201342 What happens if you don't have Lion or Mountain Lion?

All new iCloud Mail accounts now come with an @icloud.com email address. As an existing user, we'd like to offer you this new address as well. We have reserved [email protected] you, and you can now use this address with your iOS devices and computers by following these simple instructions.
If you prefer, you can continue to use your current email address just as you always have.
No matter which address you use, you'll continue to receive all your mail, whether it's sent to your @me.com, @mac.com, or @icloud.com address.
In the simple instructions it says.....
In OS X Mountain Lion or Lion v10.7.2 (or later)
Go to Mail Preferences > Composing.
Click the Send new messages from drop-down and select the @icloud.com email address you’d like to use.
Npo mention of other versions of OSX??????

If you have an earlier system and have already set Mail up manually to receive your iCloud email, go to Mail Preferences>Accounts, select the iCloud account and in the 'Email address' field add the @icloud.com version of the address, separated from the other(s) by a comma. (If you already have two addresses in there so that the end of the line is the right-hand side of the field, click in it and hold the right-arrow key down until you reach the end of the list). The @icloud.com address will now appear in the drop-down 'From' list when you compose a new message.
If you have an existing iCloud account and have not set up your older Mac yet, you can set Mail up manually to receive the emails (though you cannot open a new iCloud account on a pre-Lion Mac):
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger

  • HT201359 What happens if you don't have a credit card, or gift etc, I left my address for the bills to come there. Do you get a bill in the mail, that you can pay by BPay over the phone?

Does anyone know, if you don't have a credit card, iTunes card or similar, and you have given your postal address as the billing address, do your bills come there, and then you pay for them via BPay or similar?

You cannot buy something without a credit card or an itunes git card.

  • What happens if you go on Twitter, click a phishing site, give your username and password to it (because you never knew) can the hacker also hack into your iPod Touch 4th generation?

Okay, so I went on Twitter and some chick replies to a tweet and she sent me a tweet going like 'you guys were doin what here, looks confusing' then sends me a link. There was no tweet conversation or anything but being an idiot, I pressed the link (I was on my iPod Touch and it's 4th gen) and it got some 'time session ended' or whatever. Again, being the idiot and regretting it, I typed my Twitter username and password. Then it showed some 'cash' thing I don't even know. I searched it up, it was a phishing site and I changed my password for the third time. I hope you're still reading this because I'm very desperate for help. If I did press it, will the hacker hack my iPod too?  Thanks! xx

Nope, they can't hack you iPod. The can (or could) log into your twitter account and change the password so y no longer control the site.
If you used the same password for other sites/serves change those too.
You might also want to change other information information in the twitter account like secret questions/answers since maybe they already logged into your account to steal that data  and plan to use that information at a later date.

  • What happens if you Time-Machine backup an encrypted file-vault HD?

This is related to my previous post - but deserves special mention for those people who are using time-vault AND Time-Machine.
My question is this: If the backup of my Hard-drive is encrypted, and I then reinstall from backup, what will this situation likely produce?
This is what I have done. I also Archived and installed my Mac prior to installing from my Time-Machine backup.
I now have an error message that displays the following message at the login screen:
"Unable to log into the file-vault account "......." at this time. An error has occurred."
My password IS CORRECT. I have not changed it, and the log in window does accept my password, but it doesn't progress any further than the error message I gave above.
I'm wondering if the encryption process of file-vault is linked directly with the original installation I had of Mac OS-X before I Archived and installed.
Any thoughts/knowledge/Insight?? I want my old Mac back! (I don't recommend using file-vault). Any body else had this problem or can see what is happening to me here?
    Thank you
    Greg

I just did a backup, moved a folder with 600mb of images into a different folder, and did another backup. The free space on the backup drive dropped by the size of the folder's contents. The backup copied the files as I watched in System Preferences, and it looked like it was really copying the files to the external drive again. It looks like Time Machine isn't as smart as I hoped in this regard.
Still - I'd think the wasted space is only in the every-hour-for-the-last-24-hours bucket of Time Machine. I'm guessing the every hour backups are like a sliding window, where a backup that's 24 hours old drops out every hour rather than all the hourly backups getting wiped at midnight and starting over.
Regardless, only one version of the moved folder will eventually be stored as the daily backup for that day. I don't have proof, but that's what I think.
So, if you've moved a bunch of folders around or renamed them, the extra copies of the same exact files should drop off within 24 hours.
That's my interpretation, but I'm in no way positive!! The lengthy Ars review didn't offer an answer to this question.

  • What happens if you don't pacman -Syu often?

I am going to a place where I'll have internet access, about once in a month at the very best, mostly about once in 2 months. I know that's practically an age in Arch Linux time, but what exactly happens if I have such infrequent upgrades?

It's not that big a deal if done carefully.  On my myth backend I update twice a year.  If you're that concerned about it take a clonezilla image of your OS first.  4 minutes later you can be back to where you started if you have issues.  That being said if everything is working as you require then there is no real need to update.  If it ain't broke..
Another way to manager it is to have two partitions dedicated to Arch.  Before the update image the working partition to the section spare partition.  The boot off the spare and run the -Syu there.  If you have problems go back to the original.  No harm done.  If the update works fine (and/or you fix the issues), then change grub to point to the newly upgraded partition as primary.  Next time you're dur for updates just repeat the process imaging the current working config to the now spare partition.
The advantage to the above is that you can take your time to resolve issues on the freshly upgraded partition.  You just bootinto it when you have time to fiddle.  The rest of the time your working config is only 1 boot away.
    Cheers,
    Arkay.

  • What happens if you don't define '@Remove' method for Stateful SessionBean?

    Hi,
    I'm new to ejb3.
I've noticed that the spec doesn't force you to define a "@Remove" method on a stateful Session bean... which seemed a bit weird/dangerous to me...
Would anyone please happen to know:
    1. Is there a special treatment for Staeful SB's that don't have "@Remove"? Like, for examle, will the container destroy the session automatically at some point (after each remove invocation ? After a fixed timeout ? etc).
    2. And what if the programmer defined '@Remove' but neglected to call it from the client ? Are there different rules ? Session timeout ?
    Thanks a lot !

There are always ways in which the container can decide to remove a Stateful Session Bean(SFSB) that are completely independent of whether a client explicitly calls a remove method. The container can choose to remove a SFSB because it has timed out. The actual time out is typically configurable, much like HttpSession timeout. The container can also remove a SFSB due to a system exception generated from one of its methods.
@Remove methods merely expose an application-specific way to force the removal of a SFSB. They are not required to be defined and even if defined are not required to be invoked.

  • What happens if you get a new iCloud account? Do you loose anything from the old iCloud account?

WE cannot remember our current iClound password or security questions. We tried email reset retrieval, but we aren't getting the email.  If we create a new account, what will we loose?

Your data will still be in iCloud but you will lose access to it if you change accounts and cannot sign into the existing account.  Instead of changing accounts and losing your data, contact the Apple account security team for your country to validate your identity and get assistance resetting the password for the current account: Apple ID: Contacting Apple for help with Apple ID account security.  If your country isn't listed, contact iTunes store support by filling out this form: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • HT204406 what happens when you don't have WiFi all the time?

When using iTunes match and you are not in a WiFi zone, how do you hear your music?

    From Apple's iTunes web page:
Will iTunes Match songs download over 3G on my iOS device?
Yes. Go to Settings > Store on your device. Turn on Use Cellular Data. If you’d rather download over Wi-Fi, turn it off.
Of course, that will count against your cellular data plan limits.

  • What happens when you don't have an old serial number (from 10 years ago)?

I bought PageMaker 6.5 in when I was teaching, and I have been retired over ten years. I upgraded to InDesign 3 in 2007. Two weeks ago my hard drive crashed. In installing InDesign 3 again, I'm asked for old PM6.5 serial number, which I can't find. I've used PageMaker since it was put out by Aldus in the 80s, and I have the first serial number from that set of floppies, from which I upgraded to all others, but I'm told no serial # from PM 6.5, I have to buy it all again!!!!! Is there any reason in this?

It looks like you have got an upgrade version of the new product.  this means that you must have an old product that you used to obtain a discount on Adobe product.  Therefore, the Installation process needs to verify this and the only way to do this is to have your old serial number.  I wish I had your valid e-mail address to advise you further.
    Good luck.

  • What happens if you were to buy an app without credit on your iTunes Gift card?

I did it randomly without knowing  and nothing happened till like a few months later asking to fix my billing address or I can't upload or download no m
    ore apps

If I understand what you're saying, you made purchase with no money, or at least that's how it appears on your account. And now Apple wants to be paid. I would contact Apple customer service and be prepared to pay for the app or try to return it, get it off your accounts record. It sounds like right now your a credit risk in the eyes of Apple and they're gonna freeze you out until you fix it. Good luck.

  • HT201263 What happens when you follow all the steps in this article, but your 4s repeatedly gives you an error code (9) and you've changed cords AND computers and nothing is working???

My mom passed me her phone as she couldn't get it to restart.  I got it to charge and restart in recovery mode.  However, I've tried all steps on this and many other forums and it is stuck in "trying to restore".  On the phone, it will blink a white screen, show the apple logo and a progress bar then quickly disappear then on the computer give me error code 9.  I have tried 3 different cords, on both my MacBook Air and my iMac.  Same results on both computers.  She purchased a new phone as she couldn't do without, but would love to fix this phone and give to one of my children.  This phone has not been jailbroken.  Any help would be sooooo appreciated!  Not sure what will happen if I try to take this to Apple.

    For stated error see this
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes.  This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
Quite likely that multi-pin dock connector of the iPhone requires cleaning or closer inspection.
