There's no reason it should stop working. You may find yourself in a position where apps you want to run start requiring iOS 6. Be careful when updating apps to read the fine print on them before you do so.

What happens with SOA schemas during SOA (appServer) Suite reintstallation

I have installed Oracle DB for Vista and also - I have installed serveral times SOA suite - the last time - I installed is using advanced wizard and against my Oracle database (so - not against Oracle lite as it can be by default) and it was sucesfully (all the ESB, BPEL, web services consoles were avialable), then I started to delete the homes of odl suite's installation and result is that my SOA installation is not working now. As I can see from logs - it is becuase of lack of ESB, BPEL etc html documents in htpdoc directory of apache server of SOA Suite.
So my main question is - now I plan to reinstall the SOA suite against the same database - but is it safe? As I guess - previous installation has already created a lot of database objects (besides the usual ESB, Web services and BPEL scripts that should be execute before beginning of installation) and so - what happens with them during reinstallation and should I make any deletions by hand before second installation of SOA suite. I guess - if some old objects will be detected as existing, then SQL scripts will fail during second installation and apparently - any configuration assistants will exit with error and completion will be impossible.
Well - one more question - can I make installation of two SOA suites against the same database?

Ok, that explains why I can't run the BPEL Process Manager standalone with a shortcut.
So do I assume right that if the Weblogic Server is started, the BPEL Process Manager is started as well? Running on the WLS? Or is there no seperate BPEL Process Manager instance any more?
I installed everything as described in the first link I posted and made the necessary configurations as described.
Nevertheless, when I go to http://localhost:7001/em I arrive in the following situation:
- I can't see any “SOA” folder in the left-hand side navigation tree as it was described in the tutorial above.
- As you can see on the screenshot linked below, the soa_server1 is down. I tried to start this server by clicking on it and then I chose to start the server from the WebLogic-PullDown menu from the EM-Menu.
First I received an error saying that the Node-Manager is not started. So I started that one as well and tried again to start soa_server1. Then after a while I saw on the pop-up that soa_server1 has been started. But as you can see from the screenshot below it still appears to be down. When I then try to start it again, the EM-pop-up however says that it is running.

How - if everything would be running - could I then get to the BPEL process managing view on the EM?
The next problem I have with the JDeveloper. I installed as described above, but don't arrive in installing the plugin. The Update-Process finds the correct plugin. Then I select to install it and already after two seconds it seems to be installed.
How do I create my BPEL process with that updated version of the JDeveloper. Do I have to select Applications -> new -> SOA Composite -> Composite BPEL process or how does that work?

What happened to Oracle by Example?

What happened to the Oracle By Example Section of OTN? This was a great tutorial which showed how to set up the Oracle database, Application Server etc. It also had case studies showing how to use different features of the database. I was using it as recently as two months ago, but now I can't find it anywhere.

What happened to our web services after upgrading to 701?

We started using web services on a 700 server. Looks something like this.

We could create a proxy in vb.net and call our SAP web services like this:

After upgrading to nw ep 7.1, which looks like this.

We would like to be able to generate the proxy the same way as before. Any ideas?

What happened to the file numbers after switching to Photos. It would be nice to still have the file numbers show.
You mean, the filename with the number on the card?
Photos does not use the filenames as a title, when displaying the thumbnails. The filename will only show in the Info panel.
Copy the filenames to the title field in the Info panel and then enable "Metadata" in the View menu.
I wrote a script to copy the filenames automatically to the title field, see:

What happens on a G5 if you upgrade to iCloud?

If I go to a newer mac and complete the conversion from MobileMe to iCloud what will happen on my older G5 power mac? If I do convert my account now will iDisk still work through the Mobile Me system preferences (I see online a note from Apple that they will continue the service for a limited time, but I am not clear if that is only if I do not upgrade)?
What are the disadvantages of upgrading now?

It is possible to upgrade using a non-Lion Mac - I did it this morning with Snow Leopard - you go to http://me.com/move and follow the instructions: when it asks you to confirm that your Mac has Lion you lie and say 'Yes".
However the only thing you will be able to do - probably, because I can't absolutely confirm this will work on a G5 - is enter the mail settings manually to access your Mail: you should also be able to do this at icloud.com as long as your browser isn't too ancient.
This would enable you to retain your email address, but your online bookmarks and contacts will disappear as they can't be transferred from your Mac: if you are syncing using the 'new' MobileMe calendar the calendars may be transferred, though I'm not sure - you won't be able to sync them with your G5 once they are on iCloud, so they won't update unless you do it manually.
They will disappear anyway next June, whatever you do (short of getting a new computer) when MobileMe is closed. Until then your iDisk will continue to work as normal, but you need to be thinking about how you are going to deal with this or you will lose data.

What happens to Win 7 if I upgrade to Mavericks

Even though it isn't supported I am running an early 2009 iMac with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Took a lot of help from others and tips at other sites to get past Bootcamp 5's roadblock that wouldn't allow me to load the 64 bit version of Win 7 Pro. Bottom line it has been working fine and all is well. Since this is my first experience with Bootcamp and running Windows on a Mac, I've now wondered what will happen if I decide to upgrade with Mavericks? I'm not planning on any changes to the partition sizes for Bootcamp, so I'm curious as to whether I'm going to be stepping into unchartered territory. I'm sure others have made this step going from an older release of OSX, but since I'm running something that Apple says isn't supported, I'm assumming that they could make changes in what will probably become Bootcamp 6 and all **** will break loose.
FYI, I'm just running Win 7 for gaming purposes since my old Dell is on death's door. I brought over my Sims2, Railroad Tycoon, and just bought the new Sim City, all of which are running just fine.

What happens if i reset my startup drive

Physically crushing the startup drive or crushing the entire computer is far more effective way of permanently suppressing popups. That's probably not what you're after, though.
What sort of pop-ups? Web pop-ups? Using Safari? Some other web browser?
What's the exact text of a pop-up? If you can't capture that text, can you use the ⌘⇧4 chord and click and drag the reticule across one of the pop-ups to perform a screen-capture, and then — if there's nothing sensitive in that capture — post a copy of the screen capture here?
Have any add-ons that claim to provide better security, performance enhancements, tools claiming protection against malware or viruses, better cache performance, safer web surfing tools, or any similar products been installed here? (In general, please follow the removal instructions for these tools, and remove them. These are tools are common sources of problems with stability and security, unfortunately.)

need a basic tool to se what the database is doing, we have IFS Applications system,and it loads the database severly,using 70 % of cpu time all the time,and they have no godd tyool to see what is happening, i can olny see through the enterprise manager console the active sessions, but not what they really doing.
I hope someone understand my bad explanation.

We have a similar problem with another business software system. To gather some stats and to "chart down" the many programs that puts load on the database, we created a logoff trigger that captures v$ stats. This enables us to collect program names and LIO, cpu and other resource consumption: a great way to spot the biggest culprits (e.g. badly coded batch programs) and know what to circle in on next...

What happened to Oracle Workshop for Weblogic?

I just installed a more recent version the Oracle OSB (wls1033_oepe111150_win32.exe) but i can't seem to find the Oracle Workshop for Weblogic anymore in this install. I do find the Oracle Enteprise Pack for Eclipe but when i open it there is no Oracle Service Bus perspective nor can i create a new Oracle Service Bus project. Do i have to install something more?

HT4796 what happened to my favorites during the transfer

I transferred my PC to my MacBookPro using the Migration Assistant and I can't find the favorites that I had on my PC. How do I look for them?

Check System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if a new account was added (it usually is). Check in that account. If you find what you want, put it in the shared folder at the hard drive level so you can access it from your normal account.

What happened to my iDVD on Lion upgrade?

I'm uncertain if iDVD was corrupted or nuetered when upgrading to Lion or Mountain Lion, but it is no longer able to burn a standard DVD+R as it once did. It appears to be working, howerever it ejects the disc with one minute remaining. It will not open in iMovie (unsupported) showing 8 sec's in length and does not play on a multi format DVD player conneted to my TV. The disc does have the shading of being burned on the bottom side. I see a number of issues people have written about, some claiming Apple basically missed the boat or abandoned iDVD altogether (oversight or arrogance). The only informaion I have not found is how to correct it. Can this be corrected (i.e., Mavericks..?) or do I need to buy another program and forget it?
[Note, I changed my operating system to show 10.8.5 (below) 4 times, and it still appears as 10.5.8...]

It could be an encoding problem or a burning problem Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

What happened to my internal speaker?

I have been using an external speaker, but I disconnected it recently to help with another problem. I assumed that my internal speaker would be there waiting for me when I came back, but I was wrong. When I go to Apple Menu>System Preferences>Sound>Output, the only option is "Headphone". It seems to me that there should be at least three options there, but that's all that are there now. How can I get my internal speaker back?

Probably the audio out jack or headphone jack that
you used is mechanically stuck in the open position
therefore disabling the internal speaker.
You got that right, pal. I thought my external speakers had been completely disconnected, but I found that there was one cable that was still plugged into my computer. Thanks for your help.

What happened to my firefox. Security upgrade or UI upgrade?

Got notification that a security update was ready. Not that the ui had changed. I don't want the ui changed to ugly icons and funky tabs. Who thought of this anyway. Is there a way to get the old look back? Thank you
