What happens to a new user of iOS8 with one Apple ID?
I have one Apple ID that my wife and I use. I updated both iPone 5s' and her iPad Air. All of a sudden incoming calls started ringing on both phones whether they were calling me or her and the iPad was showing an incoming FaceTime call. iMessages began showing up on both phones and the iPad. I went to the Genius Bar for help with the phones, iPad, and my MacBook Pro for help. I knew the problem was in the settings somewhere. They showed me that I needed to set the Messages and Facetime settings the way I wanted these services to work. They found the phone numbers were not set up correctly and fixed that. Last evening my wife and I decided to check if everything was working as expected. We used our home phone to call each number and still had the same issue!!!! All the devices were ringing at the same time again. I went into the Messages and FaceTime settings again and unselected our Me, Mac, and iCloud addresses leaving the phone numbers as the only active service. IT WORKED!!!
Have any of you who have one Apple ID had to deal with any other frustrating issue?
Hello de.donna2, I personally have not but my family all share the same account and trust me it is frustrating. So what I would advise doing is creating another account and then link it up with the new family share setting. Here you will be able to download each others apps and see what the other is doing.

What happened to the new releases alphabetical list? You used to get a list sorted by date when you click ALL in new releases. Now, they only list "featured" new releases with pictures of the artwork. Is there still a way to see the alphabetical list by release date.
yes - i have the latest version; and the change to their new releases occured over a month ago. A couple weeks ago, the old format returned briefly.
Does anyone from Itunes review the forum? I would buy a lot more tracks if i was able to see all that are available. -

Time Machine doesn't erase old backups. That's only done when your Time Machine disk or Time Capsule gets full.
If you want to mean that you have connected the Time Capsule to another Mac to create another Time Machine backup, you should know that the old backup isn't modified, and you can still restore files from that old backup > http://pondini.org/TM/E3.html -
Am a new user - iPad3. As my Apple ID I used my Yahoo!Mail address and but used adifferent password to that which I use on Yahoo. In my icloud email account Account shows as my Yahoo mail address but neither my Apple password nor my Yahoo pasword work. I am also unable to open any other mail accounts such as gmail. What is being done about users inability to use their Apple ID at iTunes Store. I do not have another Apple ID, I do not want to change my password and I want my phone to work as it should.
You can try signing out and signing back in. You can also go into Settings > Safari and Clear all Cookies. You can even try logging into the iTunes Store on a computer and downloading a free app or something.
If none of those work, then you will have to wait for the issue to be resolved on Apple's end. -

The iPod will not be damage. It just my not sync with USB 1.1 or it may just be slow. As a test, I connectd my Ipod to my G4 Mac with USB 1.1 iTunses regonized the iPod but I di not want tos ync since I sync with my Mac mini.

I have an Iphone with one Apple ID and have just bought a new mac book pro. How can I syn calendar from mac book with Iphone if the two devices have different apple IDs?
No not bothered about sycing apps etc it is all about calendars and maybe notes. IN terms of how its done I just want it the easiest way and preferably so that if an entry is made on one calendar then it populates the other.
Thgius is beacuse I have my work diary on outlok, which I then link with my ical. I want to make sure that information is then shared with her.

Well, it doesn't mean that at all. You can download music purchased with an Apple ID to up to 10 devices. There is no 90 day wait. The wait is if you change the Apple ID.

What happens to my local user data? -newbie question sorry
Hi All,
Firstly apologies if this seems a dumb question, I've scoured the forums but I require something that fits my specific situation.
I've had a (my first) MacBook for about 9 months, built up a fairly healthy local user, setup just how I like it, MobileMe, iTunes, Chrome, iPhoto library, lots of other apps, etc etc and so forth.
I'm setting up a Mac Mini Server, and was wondering what I can do to join the new server, but take all my settings/downloads/iTunes etc with me... I don't want it all stored on the server, but I come from a Micro$oft Windows background. With MS, when you add a PC to a domain, login with the appropriate user account, you have a fresh profile, no settings, no files, no customisations etc etc is this also the case when I hit that Join Network Account server button on my Mac? Will I get a blank fresh account on my Macbook?
I'm guessing this must happen quite often as people start their way into Apple technology and build up a nice healthy local account before branching further into the Apple world...The two laptops I use everyday have access to all the servers via my network account. It is set so that my user account is listed as having "no home" So I log into the laptop with my local user account with a UID of 501 but access all the network services via the go menu and my network account of the same name but with a UID of 1034.
For all other users in the company, if they are on a laptop, I use network accounts. The machines are managed to ask if the user wants to create a mobile account when they login. For permanently assigned laptop users, the answer is yes. This puts their home on the laptop and ties them to that machine. I use mobile account syncing to make sure their critical data is copied to the server for backup.
By having the machine ask to create the mobile account, users can answer no and login to their network home. The use of the laptop may be needed temporarily if a regular workstation is down.
Once in a while I will need to convert a local account to a network account. While a bit more laborious that setting it up correctly at the beginning, it can be done.
But I never let any user account have the UID of 501. I would set that up as the local admin account I use for installing updates and performing other maintenance. If needed, I would back up the user data and erase and re-install the OS. -
What happens to old iPhone users
To all AT&T or Apple employees out there on Apple Discussions,
Let's say, hypothetically, my old first generation iPhone breaks, and it is still under warranty (and it is replaceable by the warranty). What happens? Won't Apple have to give me the new 3G as a replacement? But will my plan remain the same, or will I have to upgrade just because my phone broke?
Also, is there an easy way for earlier iPhone owners to upgrade to the new 3G (I am expecting to fork over some money to do this, but it would be cheaper/easier than just buying a whole new phone with a new number and new plan)?

You will get a first generation iPhone. They have plenty for repair/refurbishment issues.
Also, is there an easy way for earlier iPhone owners to upgrade to the new 3G (I am expecting to fork over some money to do this, but it would be cheaper/easier than just buying a whole new phone with a new number and new plan)?
You do it like everyone else. Go to an Apple or AT&T store. You can keep your same number.

What happened to the new release link?
You used to be able to click on New Releases and get a line listing of everything that was added to iTunes for that week and the previous 3 weeks. What happened to that? The whole poing of going on iTunes was to click on bands I hadn't heard of and find out what they sounded like. Now you can't do that anymore. I don't care about the 20 CDs in the New Release link that are in the Best Buy and Circuit City Sunday Supplement.
Where is the list of everything that's been added this week?
Windows XP ProIt's not down, seems the link is missing. If you go to http://trailers.apple.com and then click on the link to Trailer in iTunes it will take you to the trailers page inside iTunes. It's being updated as there are new trailers showing there posted today (June 30).

What happens when a new cc version is available
I am currently building a case as to why my employer should more to Adobe CC, however they have a few questions:
1. When a new version of CC is available is it automatically downloaded and installed, or is there a choice to not upgrade?
2. What happen when features get dropped in the new CC upgrades? for example TLF text in Flash is not supported in CC, so those working files would not longer be compatible.

2. Usually new major versions are installed as separate apps, so you can get the new version and keep the old one for working with files that may not be compatible with the new version. Or if you need only the new version, you can uninstall the old one. For example when 2014 version Photoshop CC was released and if you chose to update, the update process left the old version installed.
