What happens to calls when voice mail is not set up?

Odd question...what happens to calls placed to a number that does not have the voice mail set-up yet? Do they show up as missed calls or anywhere in the call log for that number? Or is it like the call never happened because it was not answered and could not go to voice mail? Also curious as to whether or not missed calls show up on the phone once it is powered back on after having been shut off (powered all the way down). I realize those calls will go to voice mail (provided it has been set-up) but will the calls show up as missed on the phone when it is turned back on?

Not odd...On Verizon if it is not set up, you will hear a recording that says "Im sorry, but the party you are trying to reach has a vm box that has not been set up yet". It will show as missed if the phone is on, and will appear in the log if the phone is on. If the phone is powered off, the call does not show in the log when turned back on. It will appear as if it never happened. You will only know if you get a VM (if its set up) or if the person tells you, hey I called you!

I have had voice mail set up on my phone for 10 years. When I did the last iOS update before 7 I guess it wiped out my voice mail. Can I not set it up myself? I haven't changed my message in years.

Jabber call to voice mail fails with fast busy over VPN

I have an issue that I ran into with CIPC phones over a VPN. If a CIPC phone called over a VPN and started ringing a phone the call would fail with fast busy at the time the call would be forwarded to voicemail. I found the issue was when remote the CIPC phone would negotiate the g.729 codec, when forwarded to a voicemail pilot over a SIP trunk set to g.711 the call would fail due to codec missmatch when no transcoders are present.
So now I am running into what I believe to be the same issue with Jabber, when on premise the calls to voice mail work just fine, but when remote they fail. I can directly call the voicemail pilot without error, but if calling a phone the call gets fast busy at the point we are forwarded to voicemail. Even though all my regions are set to talk to all other regions on G.711 and the voicemail SIP trunk is set to G.711, I believe with the new features in CUCM9 that a lower speed codec has been negotiated since the we are going over the VPN, or Jabber has done this as it knows it's over VPN (not sure). WIth CIPC I could go into the settings and turn off the Optimize for Bandwidth check box and the call would negotiate G.711. With Jabber I can't find anything that would tell my Jabber client to stay on G.711 and I can only imagine this is a codec missmatch as the following are true.
1. CIPC and Jabber share the same line
2. VPN established and CIPC optimised for low bandwidth un-checked
3. Over the same VPN the CIPC phone can leave a voicemail
4. Over the same VPN the Jabber client gets fast busy once forwarded to voicemail
5. Voicemail environment is Exchange-UM over SIP trunk
6. SIP trunk is assigned a Device Pool, that is assigned to a region that all other regions communicate G.711 to
7. On CIPC if optimised for low bandwidth is checked I get the exact same issue as I get with the Jabber client (fast busy when forwarded to voicemail)
Would anyone know what I can do in CUCM 9 to fix this issue, as said no issue when all devices are on premise. Wondering if there is a service parameter or a way to change the codec selection so the Jabber client attempts to always negotiate G.711. The correct answer would be to get some PVDM DSP resources and kick up a transcoder in my resource group, and that may be what I talk them into doing if I have no other options.

We have been getting the exact same thing for almost a year now... since switching to FiOS Digital Voice in May of last year! Every time I call in to report it they 'escalate' the issue but it never gets resolved. The problem seems to be in the initial connection. Most of the time it works fine but, several times a month, after I call to get messages and it starts to play the new message it goes dead and I get the busy signal. I get the same message when I call back: “I’m sorry – that account is in use at this time. Please try again later!” I have even called in with my cell phone and get the same message! I HAVE EVEN used the Internet to see if I could get my messages and, when I hit Play, I get a pop-up saying: “Your Voice Mail box is currently in being accessed; please try again later. If the problem continues, please contact our Customer Support Center at 1-888-553-1555. We apologize for any inconvenience.” This is obviously a software bug that Verizon has no clue on how to troubleshoot OR fix!!! I wonder how many people have the problem and just don’t bother reporting it because of the hassle? When it first started happening they destroyed my entire mailbox and I had to re-enter the complete mailbox setup again – 3 times!!! NEVER let them talk you into that!!! It’s their problem and they need to fix it!!!!!!! I wish I could go back to the ‘normal’ voicemail we originally had… they want hundred$ to switch back because I’d be breaking my #$@%^&* contract! I took my iMac to be fixed and when i got it back, mail was not set up. I called Apple Support and they helped me set up mail. Then the emails went to trash on the iMac and on the MacBook Pro (same emails). There are no numbers by the 'inbox' to tell how

Now the new mail goes to trash and there is no number by the 'inbox' to tell me how many new messages I have. I cannot save a draft to 'drafts.' There is a large number by 'trash' (I think all mail went to trash - including drafts). When I send myself an emai, it goes to trash also. This is on both my iMac (the one taken in) and my MacBook Pro (same emails) which was not taken in.
I went to 'rules' but have no idea what to do there. There are no rules in the rule box. When I click 'add rule' it puts 'rule 1' in the rule box, but since that was not there when I took it in, I delete it to have an empty rule box.
Can someone pleasehelp me. I am completely stupid with all this. Do not under stand what is suppose to be set up in 'rules.'

Now new mail is coming to both computer's inboxes but there is no number on the stamp icon on dock to show number of emails on the iMac. Nor is there a number by either email address under MAILBOXES/inbox (sidebar) on the iMac. This number is showing on MacBook Pro.
I also can save drafts now on both computers.
Seems the Pro is fixed and the iMac is only missing the numbers on dock icon and by addresses in inbox.
Now that the problem is less, I feel i am wasting your time but will continue so maybe I can get those numbers back.
Two emails > AT&T email and gmail.
Apple's Mail program for email - yes, and gmail.
IMAP for both accounts.
Did not change mail configuration on MacBook.
The iMac and MacBook Pro have the same mail configuration except in Accounts/mailbox behaviours/store draft messages on the server was not marked on MacBook > it is now.
'Store junk messages on the server' was marked on one computer for gmail, but is unmarked on both now.
On the iMac, Accounts/Accounts info/Outgoing mail for gmail is smtpgmail.
On the MacBook Pro for gmail it is smpt.gmail.com (plus) my email address.
Rules/Add rule window, on the MacBook third line is 'Any Recipient', on the iMac third line is 'From."
The last box on that line has my email address on the MacBook.
The last box on that line has the last address I sent an emil to (last night), on the iMac.
On the last line on iMac, no box was selicted for 'to mailbox' > I choose 'inbox' because it is on the MacBook Pro.
Now I have a Rule #1 and am not sure I should have because there was no rules marked when I took the computer in.

DJTayLo, Let's get your voicemail working! I noticed you metioned that your Cellular Data is off. Visual Voicemail does need to be connected to Cellular Data in order to retreive voicemails for the iPhone. This can cause the notifications to be delayed. When you turn Cellular Data on do the notifications then show correctly? Which model iPhone do you have? We'll figure this out.

you are replacing the first reference to Dog() with another one. I don't think it would make sense to do this because it is redundant.
But if you go:
static Dog myDog = new Dog();
and then go:
static Dog myDog = new Dog();
then then second one will be ignored because the first one already assigned Dog() to myDog.. so the second one won't replace the first one - it will just be ignored or generate an error.

But in Java the garbage collector takes this task on if a certain amount of memory is used. If you don't use a lot of memory the gc won't bother and the objects will be destroyed when you exit the program.
You can use:

and if you call System.gc() (which you probably won't need to do) then the code in the finalize() method will run first e.g. to erase a picture from the screen before collecting the object.

What is it called when you have something similar to a blog where you have your code say, let there be 5 posts, and after 5 posts create a new page to put the other posts on that page so there is only 5 per page?
I'm not really sure how to search that so I can learn how it's done.
I'm using Repeating Template Regions so if anyone can either tell me what it's called or link me to a good tutorial that would help me that would be great!
Basically what I'm hoping is that I can press the little "+" on my Repeating Template Region and once there is more than a specific number of the regions, the excess will continue onto another page that I can link to.
(Side Question... Anyway to organize these regions in Alphabetical order?)

What happened to toDo's in Mail

What happened to ToDo's in mail? I used to be able to create a ToDo from a mail message I have not found a way to do that with the upgrade to Lion.

Hi, NO_PC. I missed the to-do box on Mail also, but I played with Mail and iCal till I found how to do it. I checked with Apple Express to be sure this was the way to do it.
In Mail, mouse over the header until you see the grab hand. Drag it to iCal and drop it into the events column. Then, grab the event and drop it in the Reminders column. It will make a reminder but careful! cuz both event and reminder will be in focus. If you delete the event, you'll delete the reminder too unless you first click in white space (or esc) to remove focus. Then click on the event and delete.
Open the reminder and you'll see the URL box says "Show in Mail" so you can refer back to the original email. If you "archive" the message it'll just stay in the archive mailbox till you're done with it.

I guess i should close it if fails, what is the best thing to do - protect or catch exception?

Is there any way to send all calls to voice mail until further notice?

I am looking for a way to send calls to voice mail until "further notice", a toggle that will send (or stop sending) all calls to voice mail automatically. I know that a double tap on the top power button will send the current call to voice mail, but it would be nice to be able to send all to voice mall say during an important meeting.
