I rebooted my phone and when it came back on it came up with a text message that said "message not found"
It makes me hate rebooting my phone because I don't like missing a message and risking that someone thinks I'm ignoring them :-(

If it is passcode protected then hopefully your data won't be compromised. If you had Find my Phone installed and activated via your Mobile Me account, then you can arrange for the iPad to reset when turned on erasing all content.
There is no "blacklist." Hopefully, you reported the theft to the Manhattan police and provided the serial number.

Do you experience this any particular PDF or happens with all of them?
Did you try the same with turning on the OCR ?Please check the same and compare the outputs .Does that help you in anyway ?

i know you can send text messages through your email...just like a regular email all you do is send it to [email protected] dont use a subject just use the body of the email and its easiest to keep them short..i would do a test one to your phone first just so you see how it looks. hope that helps

What happens to lost iPad?

I lost my iPad in a cab in Manhattan, NYC last week. I've since replaced it. What happens to my old iPad? Can the 'thief' use it? What of my personal stuff on the device? What happened to Basic Text ?

About a year ago I put together a long sequence of dissolving titles in CS3 using Effect > Text > Basic Text. I just opened that project in CS4 hoping to use it as a template for a new sequence - but found that the Basic Text option had disappeared, and that although I can see the words from last year, the CS4 Type Tool can't get hold of them. What happened ? Is my CS3 sequence a bit map ?

By the way, basic text is in the obsolete folder, so you may want to learn the standard text tools as i guess it will disapear in some upcoming versions.
They are much much more powerfull

What happened to the "Text Edits Tool" in Acrobat X?

I know the answer is "it went away" but, seriously, please bring it back. In Acrobat 9, when you activated the "Text Edits Tool," it would automatically switch between insert, delete, and replace text in a context-sensitive way. You just had an active tool cursor - if you highlighted text and started typing, it would "replace" the text. If you clicked in one spot and started typing, it would "insert" text. If you highlighted text and clicked the Delete key, it would "delete" text. All this with one tool, that stayed active the entire time you were using it.
Now, in Acrobat X, you have 3 different tools. You have to click to select the tool - mark the change. Click to select the next tool and mark that change. And on and on. And while you can right-click on any single tool and select "Keep tool selected" - there's no way to make that the default behavior. And that doesn't help when switching back and forth between activities.
I know that the Selection Tool can now almost serve as the old "Text Edits Tool" - this works quickly with delete, but requires the tilde shortcut for insert or replace. Basically one extra step for each edit than there was with the Text Edits Tool.
One might think that that little extra click isn't a big deal - but when you are marking up a PDF all day, every day, it adds up.

I assume you're talking about commenting and markup rather than editing the text of the document itself.
The keyboard shortcuts are designed to do exactly what you want. With the multi-select tool active (I beam + black arrow on the toolbar):
Select some text and press the Insert key - a new Replace text annotation is created and the note panel opened for typing. Press Esc to close the note
Click to place the cursor within some text and press the Insert key - a new Insert text annotation is created and the note panel opened.
Select some text and press the Delete key - a strikeout annotation is created (no note this time but you can add one by double-clicking)
The idea of selecting something and 'just typing' to activate a markup event could not be retained as it interfered with the single-key accelerator mode.

What happened..LOST MY BIOS!

Very wierd occurrcence just happened to me.
I was playing my BHD game when all of a sudden I experience a freeze I could not recover from. I had to reboot, so I hold my delete key to get into the BIOS to change my Turbo settings to fast or slow.
Suddenly, my Bios cannot be detected. I had a choice to enter setup and another option. I chose setup. I got into my BIOS and everything was set at BIOS defaults.
Why are the standard bios defaults set with DOT at Captain and performance at Turbo??? I disabled DOT and set the other one to slow.
So, why did I lose my bios briefly at boot up????
I'm not sure what Bios version I have and it's been running pretty stable untill just now.

I'm not sure about that. The only thing I've really set is my MAT. I have it set at Turbo. I have normal Bios defaults set, DOT disabled and never really messed with my memory timings. My timings are set at the default values which are in the 3's and 8's, I believe.....That's without me rebooting my system and checking then posting them.
As soon as I rebooted my system I had my finger on the delete key. I didn't wait for the initial boot sequence before depressing the key. Could that have caused it??
I know my bus is set at 200

Could I increase my memory timings and leave my other settings alone such as DOT?
Anyone ever use Elixer memory and if so overclocked them and at what settings??

What happened to my text?!

This is a problem I've been seeing ever since the first day I turned on my new iMac, but it's never given me enough trouble to bother asking about it until today.

Before today, it would just drop the "I's" or "G's" in a paragraph, and a simple restart of the application would fix it. However, as you can see in the image above, it's gotten pretty bad.
I'm tired of putting a temporary stop to the problem by just restarting the application or my system. I want to know what's going on, why it's happening and how to stop it.
This is unbelievably annoying. So far, it's happened in Firefox, Safari, Camino and iChat. I'm at my wits end here, and I don't know what to do.

I've never seen that before. Considering your iMac is new (less then a year from purchase), take it in for service. That's unacceptable.

It seems that scrolling text is turned to aliased bitmap or otherwise altered as it looks very different from the rest of the text even though it's the same font, size ,etc.
Any idea?

There are lots of things this could be, we'll need more information to figure it out.
What folio and article version are you creating?
What viewer version are you using to look at it?
Are you using DPS directly or are you a Woodwing customer?
Was the article format set to PDF?
Was the overlay set to raster or vector?

Well, I did a backup of my iPhone 4s the day before upgrading to a 5s. Although all my other stuff ended up being moved to the 5s, it has no messages other than ones that have come in since the upgrade. On the 4s, which has not been wiped yet, the messages still exist. Any way to get them added to the 5s?

What happens if you Cancel while Compacting (Compact Now) a .pst file?

In the course of moving to a new computer, I found that my mailarchive.pst file had grown a bit over the 3 years that I've been using the old computer. It was sitting at just under 8 gig, and I couldn't get my Maxtor drive to accept something
that large in one bite. So, I dutifully created several new .pst files, organized my folders and distributed them into the new .pst files, and everything is goodness. I now only have around 2 gig in my original mailarchive.pst, and just need
to "Compact Now" to recover the space so that the file can be transferred. My challenge is that the job has been running (perhaps "walking" would be more accurate...) for the better part of 6 hours, and is only about half way done.
If I hit the "Cancel" (very tempting), will it just stop any additional compacting and pick up where it left off when I restart the "Compact Now", or will it insist on re-inflating? Windows Explorer is showing a steady shrinking (7.9
gig is now down to 4.5 gig), and given that .pst is a database, presumably it will be able to handle this without difficulty, but I would really hate to lose anything (not to mention everything) because I was unwilling to stay in the office until 2 in the
am.
Any thoughts?
Unless somebody responds quickly (and I really don't expect anybody to do so...), I'll probably take the chance, and answer the question later when I find out the hard way. :-)

I guess that I'll keep the laptop running in the car, and let the Compact just keep chugging along. And (being curious), I'll probably take a backup of another .pst, empty it out, start a compacting job, and interrupt it, just to see if it works.
Because I will, without doubt, run into this again in another 3 years!
The file behavior certainly suggests a process that is recoverable. A file called ~mailarchive.pst.tmp gets created, and the mailarchive.pst file slowly shrinks down in 1,984kb increments. After several iterations, the .tmp file disappears,
then a new .tmp file gets created, and the process repeats.
All that said, I think I'll let it run in the car...

what happens to index's while i execute the following statement
step 1 > delete from emp;
wht happens to index now ?
step 2 > insert into emp
select * from emp1;
wht happens to index now ?
step 3 > commit;
wht happens to index now ?
i only do insert on emp table , i got index's on two columns in it.
by disable / remove index before deleting the record and enabling the index after commit statement will my insert statement performance improve ?

While I was repairing my mac...what happened to Downloads?

Hi all, so where to begin? Long story short, during some renovation work to my home, I had to switch my mac off and pack it away. 6 weeks later, unpacked it, set it up, switched it on and...well not sure what happened. It booted, then rebooted and looked like it did when I first bought it, then it rebooted again and I was confronted with a grey screen with a folder and question mark flinging itself about! Tried all the usual, nothing would get it to boot, so I blitzed an external hard drive, installed Snow Leopard on it and managed to get going. Ran disk utility on the internal drive and it said the disk had errors, couldn't be repaired, please back up and format. Now, I had moved a lot of stuff previously onto my laptop, just for storage, so, after a few stif drinks, I took the plunge and erased the hard drive, re-installed Snow Leopard and to my surprise, here we are. So, hint number one, always make sure you have a back up somewhere, because I didn't have everything, and am now on the hunt for all my stuff.
Now, it appears that the downloads section of Support, which I used a lot, is now the Apps Store. I had downloaded loads of lovely email stationary via Downloads, along with silly effects for Photo Booth, effects for iChat...and now they are all gone and I haven't a clue where to find them!
Anyone got any clues? Had also downloaded some fantastic screensavers with clocks in wonderful backgrounds...all gone
Oh and hint nomber two, always make sure you have a back up somewhere
So basically I'm wanting to know where to find all the email stationary, screensavers etc.
Also wanting to make the point about backing up everything.
And also, if your Mac throws a hissy fit, I really recommend having an external drive, if you can install your OS onto it and get your mac going, it is a big big help!

If I'm reading this right, you copied the Documents folder from your User account to a memory stick? How big was the Documents folder?
How did you carry out the copy?
Drag and drop from user account to stick? - This should copy the data leaving the originals on your desktop Mac.
⌘-drag from user account to stick? - This would move the files - copy them over, then delete the originals.
Entire folder at one go or a few files at a time?
Assuming that you used the memory stick as received (straight out of the pack) it would almost certainly be formatted FAT32 or even FAT16 so it can be used onWindows or Mac. There are file size limits with both those formats, which could cause problems, but I'm not sure complete loss of data would result.
