What happens when an apple store recommends irepair !!!!!

I attended the appointment as booked.
the technician listened to the problems.
anyone listening to me on the phone was getting a large echo, and the phone wont hold an online connection (such as TTC bus app).
i had a few weeks earlier, i had the phone cleaned at irepair on college.
i consulted with fido and they recommended coming in to the Eaton Centre Apple store.
this was also important, because, should repairs cost too much, i would still have the opportunity to do an exchange.
i gave my explanation, and an appointment was made for next evening.
i was truthful with both the attendant, and the repairman.
i was told that because the  irepair store had tampered/modified the phone (and i was shown why they said this), the store/apple would not repair or exchange the phone.
this means i am forced to go back to the irepair, complain, and pay their high prices, with no option of exchange!!!
not only does a regular customer have any information/idea that this could happen.
  The Irony is this:
THE APPLE STORE ON COLLEGE HAD RECOMMENDED THAT I GO THE IREPAIR STORE IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!!
(i had not remembered this until after i had seen the repairman at eaton's centre..
now i have to return to the college apple and complain (probably fruitless), as well as go the irepair store
a very very disgruntled apple customer
(and my contract is up in december)

excuse me, just what is your definition of 'store'?
the building is large with a large apple logo on the front and only sells apple products.
and it is not a few blocks away.
My definition of an Apple Store, which is what you said you visited in your first post, is what everyone else defines it as, one owned and run by Apple. The store you visited is not owned nor managed by Apple but rather by some independent company, so Apple is not in control of what they told you. This is something you need to address with the manager or owner of that store. Apple cannot assist you with this issue.

  • What happens when the Apple Configurator Certs Expire?

So I was looking at some iPads I deployed sometime ago using Apple Configurator.  Last summer I brough them all in (about 220 units,) wiped them, used configurator to install iOS 5.1, all supervised, and named according to the Teacher they were given out to.  Haven't seen the iPads since.  Last few weeks I've had a few come back with misc problems and I noticed within the Supervision Profile the "Signing Certificate" and "Certificate" for Apple Configurator both expire on August 13, 2013.  What will happen on/after August 13, 2013 with these units?

From another site, I got a tip that if you use Keychain Access, double click on the AppleConfigurator (MAC address of machine) entry (it'll have a red X badge & the date it expired), open up the Trust disclosure triangle and set "When using this certificate"t o Always Trust. The red X badge changes to a blue + badge.

I want to change my Apple ID because I have a new email address, but what happens when someone tries to facetime me using my old Apple ID? Will they still be able to contact me on facetime using my old Apple ID?

Not if you change the ID.  You would need to give them the new address.

Have you tried a hard reset yet to see if that does any good? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Try this more than once if necessary.
Otherwise, try connecting it to your iTunes library in Recovery Mode and restoring it.  See this article for instructions on getting your iPod into Recovery mode.

  • What happens when Apple TV HDD fills up?

    1. Lets say that i start buying movies on Apple TV... and my HDD fills up?
What happens then? Does that mean i cannot buy anymore movies?
Do i have to buy another Apple TV with a bigger HDD? How do my movies get transferred to the bigger Apple TV?
    2. What happens if my Apple TV malfunctions and doesn't work anymore?
-- What happens to all the movies that i have purchased?

By preference an tv is ordinarily set up with a primary itunes library and if you have more than one itunes library the remaining libraries will be set up as secondary libraries.
With a primary library in place, content purchased on the tv will get transferred back to the primary itunes library and removed from the tv HDD unless you choose to sync it back. You should of course still keep a back up of all your data on your mac/pc.
In this scenario your tv will never fill up,

My iPOD class (last generation) shuts off when jostled--like what
happens when the headphones come out.  Is there any fix for this?

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • HT1539 What happens when you attempt to download a digital copy, but it doesn't upload in iTunes, and you're not allowed to use the code again?

What happens when you attempt to download a digital copy, but it doesn't upload in iTunes, and you're not allowed to use the code again?

Thanks for your reply, but you might have misunderstood it a bit. I'm NOT trying to buy a movie. ****, I'm not even in the actual Apple Store, when this happens I'm in the library not the Store part of iTunes.
To clarify - I have purchased a physical copy of a movie which came with another physical copy which contains the digital copy. The digital copy is on the DVD, all I need is just to transfer this file to my iPod Touch, for example, I'm not trying to download it from the store or repurchase it and it's not any gift code that I've received, the digital copy is on the disc. This is the first time ever that I've purchased something on a disc and I'm not allowed to access it because the disc hasn't been purchased within my country.
So again - I'm not attempting any purchase or download any purchased digital copy - it's on a DVD I own physically so... why is even the region of my Store relevant, the code I enter is (as I assume) just supposed to check if it's a legal genuine copy (which it is, as I've said - there are 6 discs in the pack: 3 movies on 3 Blu-rays and 3 DVD containing these digital copies of them). If I own it, I think that's proof enough that I have the right to use it. I just don't get it. I fully agree with you and understand your point if there was any purchase going on here, but it's not, it's just - I put a disc into my computer and I can't access it

  • HT4527 What happens when you can't authorize anymore computers?

I have authorized 4 computers at this point for my itunes data due to computers breaking and I wanted to know what happens when you cant authorize anymore computers. How would you get everything you bought?

Then you need to de-authorize some computers or get another Apple ID. If you no longer have some computers that are still authorized:
About De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
Also, see iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • Lost my iPod, remotely locked it through iCloud. What happens when the battery goes out?

    Hello!
I lost my Ipod, but managed to locate and lock it remotely through Find my iPod and iCloud. It was located once, but hasn't been located again in the last four days. I think the battery may have run out. What happens when the battery is charged and the iPod turned back on? Does the lock and everything else that can be controlled with Find my iPod still apply?
    Thank you!

Yes, because when you remotely lock the iPod via Find my iPod, the lock code is set as the lock code that you would use to unlock the iPod if you used a passcode normally. As long as the iPod is still connected to your Apple ID, Find my iPod should work as log as the iPod is connected to wifi.

  • What happens when the Time Machine drive is full?

I'm on my second iMac. My first one (G5, 1984) died, and I replaced it early 2010 with an Intel mac. The transition when exceedingly well largely due to Time Machine. I just hooked the Time Machine drive to the new system, and I was soon back up running!
My home folder has 70GB of data. The Macintosh drive has 105GB of data and 395GB free. The Time Machine drive has 220GB used and 30GB free.
    1. What happens when the Time Machine drive is full?
    2. Do I have control over what backups get deleted?
    3. If lightning strikes twice, will I still be able to restore my Intel mac like my G5 mac, even if backups get deleted?
    4. Is there anyway to control what backups/backup files get deleted?
    5. Any other thoughts?
    Thanks.

    maxseven wrote:
i have deleted the time machine folders and they are now in my trash. when i try to secure empty my trash it will delete everything but the t/m folders. how do i delete them?
Do you mean all of them? The entire Backups.backupdb folder?
That's a large mess. First, even a normal delete will take a very long time, as there are probably hundreds of thousands, or even millions, of files. Your best bet by far is to simply erase them with Disk Utility -- that will only take a few moments. If your TM drive has a single partition, see #1 in [Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks|http://web.me.com/pondini/AppleTips/DU.html]. If there are other partition(s) on the drive, see #2 there.
If not, and you only deleted some of the folders, you have a different, worse problem. Unfortunately, Apple doesn't do a very good job of warning folks: +*Never move, change, or delete anything in your backups via the Finder or Terminal.+*
You shouldn't have to delete backups at all, since Time Machine will do that automatically when the disk/partition gets full. But you can do it without harm via Time Machine. See #12 in [Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions|http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/FAQ.html] (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
A normal delete will take a very long time, as there are probably tens or hundreds of thousands of items, each of which must be individually deleted. A secure delete will take much, much longer, as each deleted file must be overwritten with zeros.

  • If I have two laptops connected to a single wireless hard drive, what happens when one laptop wants to go on a trip and the other one needs to stay home?

if I have two laptops connected to a single wireless hard drive (i.e. Time Capsule), what happens when one laptop wants to go on a trip and the other one needs to stay home?  I'm afraid I know the answer, but I'm hoping Apple has a great solution to my problem.

What if this little piggy goes to market but this little piggy stays home?
The computer on a trip will do snapshot backups on the hard drive that will then be incorporated into the Time Machine backup once you get it back home. See
OS X Lion- About Time Machine's "local snapshots" on portable Macs
Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder and enter or paste the appropriate command line. Press RETURN and enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed.
To turn them ON: sudo tmutil enablelocal
To turn them OFF: sudo tmutil disablelocal
Note that turning them OFF will also delete all existing snapshots.

  • What happens when i restore my iPhone?

i was curious as to what happens when you plug your iphone into itunes and click restore.
will i lose all my contacts and pictures?
and will it make the backlight on my iphone work?

A restore may help your iphone - it is one of the troubleshooting steps. Page 141 of the manual:
"If you restore, the latest version of iPhone software is reinstalled, default settings are
restored, and data stored on iPhone is deleted, including downloaded applications,
songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. In iTunes,
you can also restore from a backup without deleting data stored on iPhone.
Deleted data is no longer accessible via the iPhone user interface, but is not
permanently erased from your iPhone until it is overwritten by new data. For
information about permanently erasing all content and settings, see “Resetting
    iPhone” on page 109. "
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf
I gave you the link to the Apple article to determine hardware failure earlier. If those steps or a reset, restore don't work then you need to call or visit Apple for a replacement.
