What happens when I deauthorize all 5 computers

I need to deauthorize all 5 computers because I cannot access one of my computers.  What will happen when I deauthorize all 5?  Will I lose anything?

The authorization count on the iTunes Store servers will be reset. This won't affect the iTunes libraries, but they should be backed up anyway.

"What will the screen show when I deauthorize all computers?  "
Nothing.  Not sure what you mean.
" Will it show them and then I select the ones to authorize? "
    No.
You have to authorize a computer from that computer.  You cannot authorize a computer from another computer.

  • What happens when I deauthorize?

My friend downloaded songs on my iTunes account and needs me to authorize his PC so he can transfer music. But I have already authorized five computers. If I deauthorize mine to authorize his will I lose all my music on my comp? And when I deauthorize his to reauthorize mine will he lose all music he transferred? WHAT SHOULD I DO?! Help!

No to both questions. Nothing will be lost. You can deauthorize and subsequently re-authorize individual computers as often as you like.

  • What happens when I erase all content and settings?

I gave my son my iPhone 4.  We just put his sim card in and it started working and  I told him to change the apple id to his.  However, this morning, he said that he still gets my iMessages.  So we did an erase all content and settings.  Now the phone doesn't work.  What do we do?

When you erase all contents and settings - it wipes the phone clean.
If your son gets your imessage, on his phone go to settings - message - send&receive - uncheck or remove your apple id.

  • HT201263 What happens when you follow all the steps in this article, but your 4s repeatedly gives you an error code (9) and you've changed cords AND computers and nothing is working???

My mom passed me her phone as she couldn't get it to restart.  I got it to charge and restart in recovery mode.  However, I've tried all steps on this and many other forums and it is stuck in "trying to restore".  On the phone, it will blink a white screen, show the apple logo and a progress bar then quickly disappear then on the computer give me error code 9.  I have tried 3 different cords, on both my MacBook Air and my iMac.  Same results on both computers.  She purchased a new phone as she couldn't do without, but would love to fix this phone and give to one of my children.  This phone has not been jailbroken.  Any help would be sooooo appreciated!  Not sure what will happen if I try to take this to Apple.

    For stated error see this
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes.  This can occur if the device is manually disconnected during the restore process. This issue can be resolved by performing USB troubleshooting, using a different USB dock-connector cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
Quite likely that multi-pin dock connector of the iPhone requires cleaning or closer inspection.

  • What happens when I reset all settings

What will happen to my phone if I reset all settings.? Will I lose contacts and pics?

    From page 168 of the iphone_user_guide 5.1

All your preferences and settings are reset.

  • What happens when I deauthorize my itunes? I've never done it before.

How do I deauthorize my itunes/computers(1mac,2-ipod,2pc's).? I need step by step guidlines please in re-authorizing the 4-devices  that i currently have.
    Thanks,

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
From the iTunes Store menu, choose deauthorise this computer. That computer will no longer play content from your account and will free up the authorisation (mobile devices aren't authorised)
To authorise another computer choose Store > Authorise... from that computer.

  • When I "deathorize all" computers and re-authorize my current pc so that I can use it for iTunes, will I lose any of my music, especially those that were not purchased through iTunes directly?  I am afraid to that I will lose non-purchased songs.

Will I lose any of my non-purchased music that I imported from CD's when I "deauthorize all" computers and "re-authorize" my current pc?  I am fearful that I will lose several songs from my library when I do this.

No. Deauthorizing only removes the computer from the list of computers that you can use to view or purchase new music under your iTunes sign-on.

  • HT4527 What happens when you can't authorize anymore computers?

I have authorized 4 computers at this point for my itunes data due to computers breaking and I wanted to know what happens when you cant authorize anymore computers. How would you get everything you bought?

Then you need to de-authorize some computers or get another Apple ID. If you no longer have some computers that are still authorized:
About De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
Also, see iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.

  • I can't deauthorize all computers. It acts like it is doing it, but it never succeeds and no message returns saying why it didn't work. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

I had to rebuild a computer. When I got iTunes installed and tried to sync my iPod it said that I had reached my limit of five computers. I logged into my iTunes account and went through the process for deauthorizing all computers. It comes up with a messaging asking if I am sure I want to deauthorize all computer and I select the "Deauthorize computers" button. It never comes back with a message one way or another whether it was successful. When I get out of that screen and come back in, it still shows that I have 5 authorized computers. I can't sync my iPod. The deauthorization is not working. Can anyone explain why this is happening?

i guess no one helped? I'm having the same problem.
When i press the button to deauthorize all computers, i get an error saying 'my account can't process this at this time. please try again later'

I cannot authorize my new computer in iTunes because I hit the 5 device limit. However, I cannot deauthorize the old one because it's gone. I also cannot use the deauthorize all computers button because I did last year when I was replacing computers. Is there any other way of deauthorizing computers that no longer exist?

If you no longer have, or access to, the computer(s) you want to deauthorise,
Log in to iTunes,  go to "view your account info" on the itunes store, deauthorise all five,
(Please Note: this can only be done Once every 12 months)
Then re-authorize your current Computer(s) one at a time..

Authorization does not affect what you have purchased. It will still be there.

  • I am due to upgrade my iPhone 3 to iPhone 5. I have icloud which co-ordinates my phone and mac what happens when I get a new phone - I dont want to lose all my contacts, notes, addresses etc. Do I have to disconnect icloud and how? What happens?

I am due to upgrade my iphone 3 to iphone 5.  I have icloud which is co-ordinating my iphone 3 and Mac Pro updating each other.  What happens when I get a new phone - I dont want to lose all my addresses, notes etc.  What is the procedure and step by step action?  The new phone arrives - then what?

When I upgraded from the iPhone 3GS to iPhone 5, I simply did a Backup of my phone using iTunes, plugged in the new iPhone 5 into my Mac, and did a Restore of that backup to put everything back. This procedure is documented around the web. Also, the new phone will ask you for your Apple ID and when you enter it, all your iCloud info will be downloaded to the phone. It worked pretty well for me.

  • HT201342 What happens when I purchase a new iPad? How Will my music, photos and information transfer? Does iCloud hold all of that, if so how do I access it?

What happens when I purchase a new iPad? How Will my music, photos and information transfer? Does iCloud hold all of that, if so how do I access it?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
When you set up iCloud on a new device, you will get photos from Photo Stream (you will have to transfer them to the device), your contacts, calendars, notes, reminders and your iCloud mail address. All of this will be done automatically by iCloud when you log in iCloud on your device.
To transfer your purchased music, see > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519 Also, if you have the music on your computer, just connect the iPad to the computer and sync it with iTunes to get your apps, movies, music...
