first you must connect it to pc or mac, then attemptto reset once that happens it should come back up and only when the red circle blinks then it will show up on itunes display again, then you push eject wait till regular ipod screen come up showing music, videos, etc, then you take of ipod usb.
Try holding down menu and the center button for a few seconds, until the apple symbol appears. This has always worked for me

Download RecBoot and see if you can kick it out of recovery mode.

- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Have you tried a hard reset yet to see if that does any good? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear. Try this more than once if necessary.
Otherwise, try connecting it to your iTunes library in Recovery Mode and restoring it. See this article for instructions on getting your iPod into Recovery mode.

ipod stuck on the apple logo. i did the itunes thing but it tells me error and gives me a code saying i need to update itunes but it was and i did again but it still said the same thing. help how do i fix my ipod.
Hey Edgar, how exactly did you do the updates? Are you running iTunes 11.2.2? And you iPod 5 is still running iOS 6.1.2 as your tag shows? or are you running iOS 7.1.1? More info would be helpful. As Deggie asked, what was the error message, the more detailed the better. One more thing-- is this a Mac machine or a PC? Cheers.

My ipod classic (5th generation) is not playing any audio. when i play a song the little picture of the album cover comes up and the seconds clock and the blue line come up and change/move, but there is no sound. i have tried multiple speakers/ear buds and i have tried to reset it but notheing worked.
What should i do?Assuming that you actually have the volume turned up (you don't say that you have, after all), make sure that the Volume Limit is not turned all the way down.
Look in the Settings/Volume Limit menu. The small arrow controls the volume as well. -

Most likely the hardisk is dying, with high Realloc and Pending sector numbers. -
What happens when an iPod is synchronized with an iTunes library that is bigger than the available space on the iPod? I did this some time ago. On screen was shown available space somewhat less than 120 GB, but maybe somewhere between 10 and 20 GB more in the library. I had to get the iPod updated anyway, so I did proceed. However, afterwards the total content of the library was only about 110 GB. Now I wonder what did actually happen. Was the first sign only corrected for double copies of the same files or lost files or where files deleted from iTunes? And if files where deleted from iTunes, were they also deleted from my computer?
Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.
