What happes to "iPhoto saved FACES" if I reinstall OS X Lion?

I have bought a 2011 macbook pro running the default version of os x on the device and then i upgraded to os x lion.
Now the problem is that i want to change my mac's name (the name that appears in front of the home logo in finder) and due to searches i have done across the net, it seems that its not possible unless i reinstall my os x lion.
So i am asking that what happens to my personal data so far and specially what happens to the FACES that i have named in iphoto so far?
will they be erased?

and I have another question.
my os x lion have crashed so bad several times during this 2 weeks that i bought my mac, in a way that i could do nothing but holding the power button, and i supposed that apple's operating systems are not that easy to crash.
is it normal? I'd say it happened about 5 times in 2 weeks. is something wrong with lion updates? i have read some forums that they say something is wrong with firewire update.

what version of iPhoto are you running? There have been many fixes to web galleries and there still are some issues to be resolved - in versions before 7.1.2 web galleries were pretty flaky
7.1.3 still have some issues but many less
One suggestion is in the future make an album of the photos you want in the web gallery and do all changes there then publish that album as a web gallery - making changes to a published web gallery while it is updating (and you can not easily control this) still seems to cause problems

Accessing the iPhoto '09 face.db

Is it possible to access the iPhoto '09 face.db file from applescript?
I pulled the file out of the bundle and placed it on my desktop.
Using SQLite database browser, I verified that there are records and tables of interest in the file face.db.
I can't, however, access the contents of the database using Database Events. What gives? Shouldn't I be able to do that? After I open the database, applescript tells me there are no records in it.

I want to sync the thumbnails shown for each face, which is the key photo for the person, with my apple address book. Can't access the thumbnail via applescript, from my limited knowledge, so I'm accessing the underlying database iPhoto utilizes.

The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem. Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page. Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)

I fixed the problem somewhat myself by removing the miniSD and manually inserting it. It did not populate automatically. I had to open iPhoto and then it populated only the most recent photos I had taken which fortunately were the only ones I need. No error messages this seems to be a new occurrence.
Is there a way to just turn iPhoto off and download my photos to the folder of my own choosing?

Change the Image Capture pref to open iPhoto instead of PS CS, and find out. I don't know the answer, not having a 20D or iP 2 myself.
Have you installed Canon's proprietary software that came with the 20D? There may be a driver included in that software bundle that's required for your camera to talk to your Mac via USB.
It is possible, as you suggest, that iPhoto 2 doesn't support the significantly newer 20D. But if you change the Image Capture setting and install the software that Canon supplied, you should be able to find out whether or not that's true in fairly short order.

IPhoto 09 face recognition

I would like to know if the iPhoto 09 face recognition feature is ON by default and can't be switched off even if we feel we don't need it.
The reason I ask is that, after a year of Leopard, I am really exasperated at this Spotlight regularly monopolizing 95% of processor time, uncontrollably trying to index the whole Universe, just in case I might want to search the contents of files, a feature that is ON by default and can't be switched off even if we feel we don't need such an overkill process.
Same with Time Machine, that starts archiving everytime an external drive is plugged in, unless we rush to the Time Machine System Preferences and navigate to the Confidential tab to kill the already running indiscretion.
I just hope that iPhoto 09 didn't join this recent un-Apple philosophy that uncontrollably overworks processors and noisy fans, temporarily slowing the fastest computer in the World to the speed of my first Mac SE, just because it decides you're an idiot that might not know its own needs.

If you find that Spotlight is “regularly monopolizing 95% of processor time“ then you have a problem with Spotlight. This is not how i works on nay of my machines. Perhaps you need to troubleshoot that.
I was able to turn off Time machine with no difficulty. Perhaps you need to read the help.
The faces feature use a one time scan of the iPhoto Library when you first launch 09. Thereafter it does nothing at all unless you use it.

Error Saving Face Data

Whenever I click "find faces for tagging"
The box comes up
Then all the faces start to appear
When i try and tag any of them, it says Error Saving Face Data
Please Help!

Is the error visible both on XP and Vista?
Can you try one thing - Try to tag the photos in small subsets say 50 or 100 at a time and once all the photos have been tagged once in small subsets, try to tag all of them together. See if that produces the crash?

What version of iPhoto did you have prior to upgrading to iPhoto 9.5.1? The following is from this download page: iPhoto Library Upgrader 1.1
This tool prepares libraries from iPhoto 7 or earlier so they can be upgraded with the current version of iPhoto.
So if you previous version of iPhoto was 7 or earlier you need to download (it installs in the Applications/Utilities folder), launch and apply it to your iPhoto Library before opening the library with iPhoto 9.5.1.

You can't see your photo stream photos from iCloud.com, if this is what you are asking.
You need to log into your Apple ID on a computer or iOS device and view your photos from the photo app/application there.

I'm using iphoto 11. Identifying all the faces in my pics. It keeps suggesting the same pics for lots of people. I dont know the people in these faces but I cant find a 'i dont know who this face is option to clear them out of the list of waiting to be identified. Also some of these are people at all but odd bits of tree and such like [also faces from posters screens ...] but there seems to be no 'this is not a face option'. I havent yet looked on the actual photo but with a library of 10,000 ish photos i dont even know how to find the photos with these particular faces in them.

Hi,
For a cloud service, though it is possible to access instance VMs and do changes on their file system by RDP sessions, but it is not recommended, as you will end up loosing your changes if role instance VMs are restarted.
If you really want to keep certain settings configurable and which will be shared by all your role instances, best way to do is to utilise the cloud service configurations, typically you mention these settings in .cscfg file and you can also edit those using
azure management portal.
You can also access those from your code

You can't put a PDF into the photo gallery. The Photos app can only hold pictures and video. You could take a screen shot of whatever is on the screen of the device by tapping the Home and power buttons at the same time. That screen shot would be stored in your Camera Roll in the Photos app.
