What hardware is included in the "All Three" package?

I have a scheduled FiOS install next Saturday and started thinking, what is the size and requirements of the hardware that is coming? I ordered the TV/INTERNET/PHONE package. (20 down-5 up, $104.99 a month, Extream HD or something) There is a "free" DVR and perhaps another box which will be by a TV I assume. I requested ethernet Internet because we have a Linux router/firewall/file server. I need a primer on the various hardware and how it connects to everything. Does the box that gets the fiber have an output for TV, phone and Internet? How much room does it all need? I was thinking of mounting a 2' by 4' piece of 3/8" plywood in the attached garage. There is a 120 outlet close by. Some of the TV terms are new to me; I'm still on rabbit ears.

Placing the backboard and the availability of the power outlet will expedite the installation. Hopefully, the backboard is near where the drop from the pole or underground hits the house. The installer will place the optical terminal, (ONT), and the power supply on the board, and will run COAX and Cat5 cables to your PC and TV locations. The installer will also place and configure the router and TV STB's. Most installers are very flexible and will comply with any reasonable requests the customer makes.
If you are upgrading from rabbit ears to FIOS TV Extreme HD, it will be like upgrading from a Yugo to a Mercedes...it will be an eye opener. Good luck with your install. Give an update, post install.

    In general most macs you buy are the same. If you will be doing quite a lot of editing of photos and videos, then the big things to look for are:
    Processor - 2.8ish GHz Intel i7 4-core - is about the best I have head of thus far.
    RAM - fairly easy to upgrade yourself, but 16GB is typically more than you will need for the next 5 years at least.
    iLife is reasonably good software for editing media, but as a photographer, you may have your own prefered software
    The good thing about Apple is that they don't sell ****** computers in general. They offer little in the way of customization of hardware which is both their strength and weakness.

  • What software is included with the MBP 2009?

    Hello All,
    Am setting up my new MacBook Pro which I brought home from the store yesterday. I used Migration Assistant to transfer my data and existing applications. iLife apps appear to have been replaced with newer versions, but I've found no trace of an iWork trial, MS Word trial, Comic Life, Omni Outliner... no Quicken, games, demos, etc.
    So I'm wondering what's included and where it's located...
    The computer came with 2 DVDs: Mac OS install DVD and Applications Install DVD.
    On the Applications DVD, if I select customize install, I see:
    -cpu help files
    -iPhoto (grayed out, cannot be selected)
    -iMovie (grayed out)
    -Garage Band
    -iWeb
    -iDVD
    Should there be another DVD?
    Where is the complete iLife restore software located?
    Should there be a remote unit to use with Front Row, as is the case with the iMac Intel, or is that not included with the MBP?
    Thanks

    Quoting from the MacBook Pro page on the online Apple Store:
    http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shopmac/family/macbookpro
    Included software
    Mac OS X Snow Leopard + iLife
    Every Mac comes with the world’s most advanced operating system, as well as iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, and iWeb so you can do more with your photos, movies, and music.
    The Apple Remote is not included.
    iPhoto and iMovie may have been grayed out because they were already installed. Those two apps plus GarageBand, iWeb and iDVD constitute iLife.

  • I´ve bought the new IPad3, what a disappointment the 3G does not work, no Internet available, APPLE what are you doing for the all the people in Germany who bought the new IPad3? I´m still an Apple fan, all my products are from Apple but I need a solution

    The one I have now has the same problems. WiFi is working however 4G not at all. Apple what can I do? What are you doing for the thausands of German Apple fans who have bought a IPad4G and can not use it. We need a solution NOW. I´m working with this tool and need to be able to rely on it.

    It would be advisable for Apple to react officially on it. € 799, - for something that doesn´t function is no fun :-((
    Isn't replacing your iPad Apple "officially" acting on it?

  • What's going on with the Chromium browser packages ?

    They are too many !
    1 bin32-cxchromium--> An old chromium package. Do we need it ?
    2 chromium-browser-{buildnumber}~-svn{date}{upstreamrev} --> it's the repackaged deb of a rebuilt svn chromium. 32bit only.
    3 chromium-browser-dev --> OK. it's the same as the previous one + 64bit package. So (2) isn't needed ?
    4 chromium-browser-inspector --> Don't really know what this is.
    5 chromium-continuous / fresh / lkgr --> Don't they provide the same package ? They drag the .zip from build.chromium.org. What if they provide different svn versions? In an experimental browser, don't expect much stability, so why should we have now three different stages of the svn history of chromium ?
    6 chromium-snapshot --> same as chromium-continuous. 32bit only.
    7 chromium-snapshot-64 --> it's the native 64bit package of chromium-snapshot. 64bit only.
    8 chromium-snapshot-64-last --> Don't really know what this is. It seems the same as (7).
    9 chromium-browser-svn -->The only one that provides the source for building.
    Well, they are too many. Some of them provide the same thing, others should be merged.
    What we should need:
    One PKGBUILD to repackage the deb package from ppa launchpad for both architectures. Too difficult to create a PKGBUILD that will (with the aid of wget or curl or even elinks) automatically check the latest version possible.
    One PKGBUILD to repackage the zip package from build.chromium.org. I have a suggestion for this.
    One PKGBUILD to make an archlinux package from sources. It already exists, this should be the base for the future chrome (stable) package.
    Not all of these.
    Just a suggestion

    As far as I'm concern, Chrome is the spy-ware browser...
    But not a spy-ware for a specific type of users, but one for a major company like Google. Which means, you don't have to worry about Credit Card frauds or something like that... There's an old saying: "information is power" - Google being the biggest marketing corporation on the Internet has a very good use for this power. So, they won't harm users in any way, that would be against their "current" interests... They just want to gather data regarding users interests.
    As you all know by now, at current times Internet is the best place for that:
    -you want to buy something, you browse the Internet
    -you're interested in some future gadgets, you browse the Internet
    -you're looking for a specific product (from any domain) you browse the Internet
    -you're looking for a specific place for a vacation, you browse the Internet.
    ... and so on.
    Until Chrome was released, their search engine (Google) and their mail client (Gmail) was a very good tool for that, yet with Google Chrome they have even more control which obviously, can lead to more accurate results. This will increase their profits significantly, as mentioned above - without hurting those involved.
    It's all up to you as user, if you agree with that or not... which is obviously coved by their EULA Yet, I strongly believe 99.9% of all Goggle Chrome users never looked at it (same as they proceed with any EULA).
    ========
    I use Firefox for general usage, yet I also have Chromium installed for YouTube - since under Linux 64 bit flash doesn't work as wanted under Firefox, yet works pretty decent under Chromium. YouTube is also part of Google, so it makes no difference. And yes, I one of those rare people that don't accept their entire policy and also read EULA's.
    and how does your rant against Google add anything to this 7 month old thread which was created only to clarify the hassles about so many chromium packages in AUR

  • What can be included in the *tar.gz that will be uploaded to AUR?

    Hi all,
    I read, that binaries shouldn't been uploaded to AUR, but what about other files like a tar.gz file?
    I came to this question because I'm maintaining the splashy package. The "arch" theme can't be hosted further on the place, where it is now and I have no possability to host it. So my question is whether I can include it in the *tar.gz file, that I upload to AUR ?

    After all you still need a text editor to `human read' a text file, maybe not a text editor but at least a file system driver you can't seriously watch directly the hard disk, it is not so different from a image editor to read a picture.
    Yeah, that might be the case. But that does not add anything to the argument. Of course everything on a computer is stored in binary. That does not mean that everything is executable machine-code. This is where the argument is actually taking us: compiled, executable machine code. An image isn't and neither is a plain text file.
    ezzetabi wrote:About interpreting and executing the difference is even more subtle, a C source file is a text, its compilated form is not, but I can use the C source file with an interpreter and have the same result...
    How is that difference subtle? The C file is encoded according to some character encoding (e.g. ASCII) and therefore, it is a plain text file. If you compile it you get a whole new, different file that bears no resemblance to the source-file. It is a stream of bits and bytes that manipulate certain registers and other parts of the hardware according to the specifications of said hardware. It is executable. A library has exactly the same basic layout: it is a stream of bits and bytes that, when laid on the registers and the functional units of the hardware, invoke a certain behavior, much like a key does in a lock (only more complex). The blueprint of the key (the C source) could not do that. The key itself (the executable file) does. The only difference of a library to an executable is that it can't execute itself by e.g. calling it's name from a shell because it lacks the syscalls to initiate a standalone start.
    And when you feed a C file to an interpreter, it compiles the file on the fly and feeds it to the hardware. It's not rocket science. The C file itself is not executable, the interpreter OTOH is because it is machine code. The interpreter takes the C file, interprets it and puts the bits and bytes on the register himself.
    Don't get me wrong but I think you lack the basic understaning of how a Computer actually works.
    As for the question why executable files and libraries should not be uploaded to the AUR: I can find one simple solution. Security. You can look at PKGBUILDs and see what they do. You can't do that with libs and executables. At least not easily. Case closed.

  • What exactly is included with the new adobe photography package?

    okay first off, I'm in love with all of these massive changes all the way around.
    secondly, I'm a bit of a hot mess.
    For starters I am upgrading my poor old PC to a Mac (it was time!) this means I loose all my previous software. (It's time to upgrade as well anyhow) I currently have cs4 installed, and also lr4 On my PC. I pick up my new Mac mini tomorrow, and would like to have a solid game plan.
    I'm having a hard time understanding what the new cloud options are, as well as the photography package for $9.99/mo. With this, is creative cloud included? do I have to purchase creative cloud membership in addition to the photography package? Does this include full use versions of both photoshop and Lightroom? And lastly what is the benefit vs buying lr5 outright (physical software) and / or buying the full download use of Photoshop and using via creative cloud. My how times have changed.... I feel so out of the loop, however extremely excited for the changes and inspiration.
    Thanks in advance, and keep up the amazing changes.
    RP

    My understanding is that the $9.99 photographer package includes Photoshop CC 2014 and Lightroom CC 2014, as well as 2G of cloud storage. It doesn't include access to the rest of the apps in the CC universe (which you'd get with a full CC package), nor does it include TypeKit as a part of the package. It also includes access to Lightroom apps for the iPad and iPhone, and the Photoshop Mix app for the iPad.

    Download and use of prior Photoshop releases (CC 2013, CS6) if desired

    Hey,
    I'm a bit worried about my mail database on my OSX 10.8 Server.
    I'm using Time Machine all the time to backup the server but I'm not quite sure if the mail database (send/recieved/folders/users) of all my accounts are saved with Time Machine or not.
    Does anyone know what directories are saved using Time Machine on a Server? Was digging through the backup but it told me I don't have rights to view the filders :/ bummer
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Daniel,
    For the list of supported 'filetypes' which the ESA should be able to identify is when you click on attachment-filetypes on the content filter, the drop down would give a general classification as well as the list of supported extension.
    If you do not see the extension within the list here, then the suggested workaround is to use regex matching for the extension file names.

    Hello,
    I am looking to block inbound attachments that contain any type of Java file, and I am looking to use the "Java" file type as opposed to a regex statement that matches every file type:
    .java
    .jar
    .js
    .jsx

    .job
    I've looked in the manual, it does not specify. Does anyone know if using this file type includes all these file extensions? Thanks!

    I want to know if "full" is equivalent to the Master Collection.  Of course the web site doesn't really explain that.  I am not loving the current web site.

    Thanks Mylenium, I will make sure I get the full load on my systems.  That's a lot of software.
