What hardware specs are necessary to run lion OS X

I have a macbook pro intel core 2 duo with 2 gb ram, what is the most advanced os I can run on this machine? I have 10.5.8 currently.

Yes, you can run Lion.
2GB is the minimum required RAM. You might upgrade it for better performance. I have 2GB on my 2006 MacBook, and it runs at a fairly good speed, but you can't have that many programs open at once without it really slowing down.

None are '''''necessary''''' to use Firefox, but some parts of some web pages aren't going to work without a specific plugin being installed.

  • What Solaris packages are needed to run WebLogic 5.1?

Solaris by default comes with 4 installation methods, namely core, end-user,
developer, full. In comparison, full consists of 300+ solaris packages and
core about 30+. I was wondering if there are any docs lying around on
specifcally what packages are required of Solaris 2.6 by Weblogic 5.1. Would
greatly appreciate any help here. Thx
    Rgrds,
    Wong.

Acckk a full installation is bad... real bad for security in a production
env. You guys should investigate thoroughly exactly what packages are needed
to run JVM. There are a lot of useless binaries/libs in a full Solaris
installation. For the record, I installed a core installation + two packages
(required by JDK). The thing works anyhow... but I thought BEA would have
some guidelines on a Solaris installation for host security. I mean, even
M$ have guidelines on running IIS securely, and apache have theirs long ago.
Any of you guys ever tried stripping Solaris to run weblogic??

    Wong.

We certify with full installations, but others may work as well. The
ability to run the JVM is the biggest factor.

  • What Additional Services Are Necessary To Install?

Hi everyone, we just recently started working with the JDeveloper application and are pretty new with all of this so sorry if this is a really 'newb' question but we are trying to plan ahead for licensing and installation purposes.
A co-worker of mine has been working with JDeveloper to write some small custom internal web apps that would pull information from our production 10g database that is on a separate server and allow users to add some information that our ERP system doesn't allow them to do via its interface. The information is pretty much just for internal reporting right now on some very specific items.
We love the app so far and are excited about the potentials of JDeveloper to tie up some loose ends that our ERP system doesn't offer us. He is able to deploy the app straight off of his Windows XP machine and users would be capable of navigating to it. However ideally we would want it hosted on a server.
I fired up a Win 2008 x64 virtual server and installed some apps he had recommended. Web Logic Server 10.3.4 and he was able to sync his JDeveloper client up with this and publish projects to it but they wouldn't start up properly. He then provided me some installation instructions from some Oracle.com documents that instructed me to do the following:
    Install Oracle Web Center
    Install Repository Creation Utility
    Install Oracle Database software
As it all turns our first thing I had to do was install an Oracle DB. I tried the Oracle XE but then RCU gave errors that appeared to be caused by XE's lack of certain tables. I then installed the trial of 11g and RCU installed with a few bugged options. I then began the battle with Web Center (which had previously prompted me for RCU first).
As we are fighting these issues I really wanted to reach out to the community/specialists and find out if you think we actually need all/any of these things for the internal apps we are making. These apps shouldn't be 'mission critical' by any means right now and they deploy fine from my co-workers jdeveloper launch. Ideally we would like the capability to allow people to leverage their login from our production 10g server but that isn't necessary at this moment.
Any general direction or advice would be helpful. I attempted to get Oracle on the phone to point us in a direction but they passed us off to some standard sales department that was trying to sell us hardware :P

What type of technologies are used in these apps?
Does it use any WebCenter related stuff?
If the answer is yes, than you need to install WebCenter as well.
Installation guide and other useful information can be found here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.htm

  • Whic files are necessary to run MS SQL Server 2008 Express?

I am looking for information about which files/folder form a installation for SQL Server 2008 R2 Express is really needed.
I have a test installation, but think that many files may never be used.
Therefore, can I find a place to which is a must to have in the installation to run an application running on SQL (or someone tell me so)
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
all files of a SQL Server installation are required, cause of direct or indirect dependencies; why should MS install a not required file?

  • New in SAP - What additional skills are necessary?

    Hi all,
I have recently done an internal move in my company and soon I am going to support SAP applications. I have been working , so far, for > 5  years supporting high availability e-Commerce J2EE applications.
From my first look on several forums I am a bit confused whether my acquired skills would be enough - in addition to the SAP training which I will get soon- in order to support SAP applications. Moreover, my main concern is whether I should get more involved on Java development, where the only practical experience is from university projects.
From what I see , having some development and scripting skills, combined with the SAP knowledge is highly required and is much more compensative than being a pure SAP system administrator.
What is your 2 cents on this issue?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Subhasha,
thanks a lot for your comprehensive response. Indeed, my main supporting tasks on the e-Commerce J2EE applications so far were configuration and tuning tasks , since coding is completely done from another department within the organization. Of course I have had strong knowledge (theoretical) of the JAVA technology and how java coding is done but I did not get the chance in my company to code. On the other hand I see that good SAP consultants here in Germany are the ones who perform coding along with the administration tasks, while they customize the SAP modules.
Let's see, I will start next month and I will see how it will go. The more I will learn the better view about SAP support I will get.
    Kind regards,
    Loukas

  • What preinstalled programs are necessary for S10-3T?

Hi, I recently purchased a S10-3T and upgraded from Win 7 Starter to Win 7 Premium.
I'm wondering what programs are actually vital to keep, and what is just bloatware?
I know that Win 7 Premium has touchscreen integration, so is there Lenovo software I can now uninstall bc it does a similar thing?
For ex. I see programs like Cando Touch and Lenovo Natural Touch.. can these be uninstalled?
Also Lenovo software like: FirstBOot, Idea Central, Idea Notes, ReadyComm 5, Screen Rotation...
Are any of these programs vital for proper functioning? I'm just not sure what is needed to keep and what I can get rid of since I ihave upgraded to Win7 Premium.
Also Veritouch.. is there a point to keep it?
    Thanks in advance.. much appreciated

you can uninstall bloatware like firstboot, idea central, readycomm 5, ms office trial, veriface, veritouch. Natural touch can be deleted on the c: drive folder. Lenovo autorotate is for the screen rotation only in tablet mode.
Clean install always the best option.

  • What tech specs are good for adobe lightroom 5 and photoshop cs6?

I was planning to change my laptop to a better one as the lightroom and cs6 have been running very slowly recently. It might due to the aging of my laptop.
I wanted to change one good one for the both programs that i mentioned above. please advise. Thank you.

Since the RAM on the Retina model can't be upgraded by the user, I would go with the full 16GB.
I would also look at the 512GB flash storage option - you don't want to lug around an external drive.

  • What hardware components are you able to upgrade?

For instance I know I can upgrade the RAM if I take it to an Apple Store.  What else can be upgraded?

Given what Apple charges for the ram modules to begin with and given that to replace the ram requires the entire system to be disassembled (see iMac Intel 21.5" EMC 2544 RAM Replacement ) I canot even begin to imagine what they will charge for this.
Add in the fact that you have no warranty on the system, any money you might have saved buying the system as you did will be long gone once you have Apple upgrade the memory.
Hate to be so brutally honest here but if you really want a system with more memory you should look to sell this one (if it is to late to return it) and look at a Apple refurbished system. At least you'll have the standard warranty and be eligible to buy Apple Care,

  • What Tech Specs are needed for iOS developement and other game developement?

I am looking to buy a new macbook pro most likely the retina because it has a much higher resolution and flash storage which will make it much faster than a regular macbook pro. I am going to use this computer for programming including iOS developement and web design. I will also be using higher end applications like cinema 4d, unity 3d, and the adobe products.
I am in school so i will also be using this for simple school functions.
I was wondering should i get the 16gb model or is 8 enough?
And should i get more internal storage than 256 gb and just use the Apple Time Capsule for a wireless external hard drive or get more storage on the macbook?

Since the RAM on the Retina model can't be upgraded by the user, I would go with the full 16GB.
I would also look at the 512GB flash storage option - you don't want to lug around an external drive.

  • What specific technology are older macs bluetooth missing that will not allow handoff to work?

What specific technology are older macs bluetooth (that is built in) missing that will not allow handoff to work? Will apple allow people to buy third party bluetooth 4.0 to allow it to work?

Well, with a PPC Mac you can upgrade as far as Firefox 3.6.19 if you upgrade from Tiger OSX 10.3.9 to Leopard OSX 10.5, but Firefox doesn't support PPC architecture in the latest Firefox 4, 5, and 6.0 versions.
    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0 & 5.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />
    http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/
But, you still need to carefully investigate if your hardware specs are sufficient for either Firefox 3.6.19 or for 10-4Fox.

  • Display Hardware specs for After Effects

    Hi,
For Mac Os the hardware specs are (and I'm not mentioning all the specs.... just a couple)
5GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
Additional disk space for disk cache (10GB recommended)
    14400x900 display
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
I'm I crazy or should the display need minimal 1440x900? I mean ...14400 is a little bit to much isn't it?
Thnx for your time and attention.

    Hi Temi1
Please share the link on which you have notice this
As i have checked system requirement page
and it is showing the minimum requirement for display is 1440X900

  • What db-ressources are significant while runtime parsing queries in reports

I have long idle time in running a report
    what db-ressources are significant
    while running Report
Report compiling / Query parsing ?
i have running the same report from a AS 10g
    in identical schema's
on two different instances ( TEST and PROD )
    on a R11_2 orcale-db
in TEST-Instance the report does run well in some seconds
in PROD-Instance the report need more then 10 min
to analyze it I have trace_all on AS
and taken outputs in all triggers in the report
    I can see,
the idle-time in the long-time report is between
    the AFTER_PARAM_FORM - Trigger
    and
    the BEFORE_REPORT - Trigger
    trace detail:
    [2011/6/22 0:9:25:115] State 56016 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Job 76089 status is: Bericht Before-Report-Trigger wird ausgeführt wird
    ausgeführt
    [2011/6/22 0:9:25:115] Debug 50103 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Finished updating job: 76089
    idle Time
[2011/6/22 0:20:17:459] State 56016 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Job 76089 status is: Bericht Seite 1 wird formatiert wird ausgeführt
    [2011/6/22 0:20:17:459] Debug 50103 (JobManager:updateJobStatus): Finished updating job: 76089
    this is while
    Report is "compiled".
    Queries are parsed.
because both the reports run on the same AS
    and both schemas are identical
it maybe the differences come from different the instance-system-ressources
    ( in the TEST-Instance there is 1 or 2 users / sessions,
    in the PROD-Instance there are > 100 users / sessions )
what db-ressources are significant for performance
    while running Report
Report compiling / Query parsing ?
what other reason may be for the idle-time in this report ?

In your trace your idle time is between Before Report Trigger and the formatting of page 1. So, the activity is in the database.
Report compiling / Query parsing ?Compilation has already taken place when the report runs, so that's not it.
Parsing depends on the query. If the query exists in the SGA it shouldn't parse again. However, if you have lexical parameters the query may be different each time. Still, parsing is (never) a problem.
What remains: execution of the query. Trace the report session in the database.
I just use TOAD for monitoring a session and see which query is executing for a particular session.
