What has your network waited to do until you've gone on vacation?

I lost *2* disks from a RAID 10 array - luckily it was a 14 disk array and they were not part of the same pairing. Although, that was just a day trip to San Antonio, for work, not really a vacation.
The most grievous thing that has happened when I've been on vacation was a power outage at a branch office and I kept getting calls and voicemails wanting to know if they could go buy a UPS and run off that while they waited for the power to come back on....

It always seems like things on my network wait to break until I'm out of reach.
The latest event:
After just leaving for vacation I got a call from some of my sysadmins that the phone system had gone down. About to get on a 6-hour plane ride to Hawaii I walked them through the troubleshooting steps to attempt to resolve it.
The solution? One of the modules had died and we needed a new one ordered overnight. Luckily my crew was able to install it without me being there, but it definitely put a knot in my stomach for the entire trip. "What else is going to go wrong?"

My phone is a blue LG Chocolate Flip. I think that my cell phone says that I love the color, I dont like qwerty phones because I find them to be boxy (that's just me). I prefer a flip for some reason! It also has a really good camera for a phone and I am a total shutterbug!

What Is Your Ex Employer Really Saying About You?

At one company I worked for, officially no one was allowed to give references. I expect this is exactly the kind of situation they were trying to avoid.
Unofficially, it was up to individuals whether they wanted to provide personal references, i.e. not officially on behalf of the company. My advice would be—if there was anyone that worked closely with him other than his supervisor—he should speak with them and see if they'd be willing to provide references. Then provide prospective employers with cell numbers or direct lines to those individuals.

This question stems from a request from a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago. He was laid off of his last job due to the economy. He has had a few interviews that seem to go well, but he never gets the job. He is suspecting that his previous supervisor may be saying something derogatory about him. His previous supervisor, a female, and he had a personality conflict and fears that she may be retaliating in some way. (His ex supervisor openly admitted that she "did not like men". She even made that statement to me when I met her once.)He asked me to call to see if I could get a reference as a potential employer. I called the company's HR department and was told that only written references were given and that I would have to submit my request on my company's business letterhead; this seems legitimate. Have you tried clearing DW's program cache yet? That's usually my first step if something "just started happening"...
Deleting a corrupted cache file
Server updates can cause DW to need a setting change. Have you already tried toggling Use Passive FTP in your site settings yet?
Has anything changed on your local network, like an update to a firewall?
If you are connected via wireless router, a low likelihood but possible thing to test would be a wireless router problem. Try connecting the computer directly to your modem, bypassing the wireless router (if you aren't using an all in one modem/router setup) to see if that makes any difference.

How do you find who's on your network

I have 6 machines on my AP network for my office & home business. I do not have it password protected. But I have a neighbor who says he can pick up my signal on his laptop. Is there a way to find out who's machine is on your network?

I strongly recommend you password protect your network right away. It doesn't matter who is on your network if even one person is unauthorized. That person could easily get into private data through your network, or simply piggy back onto your Internet connection for a free ride.
If you click on the Network icon in your Finder window, it will tell you the names of all the computers connected together on the local subnet. However, an intruder need not network with the other machines in your system to take advantage of your Internet connection. For example, I have 2 Macs using the Net via my base station. They are not necessarily connected to each other. I can use the Net with both machines at once, but until I actually use Network to connect them together I can't access one machine from another, and I can't see whether or not my other machine is using the Network or not.
On top of that, I have to have Personal File Sharing turned on to share files between 2 machines. You can change these settings in Sharing under System Preferences. That can keep intruders out of your system, but may not tell you who is logged into your subnet unless they Network, or if they have file sharing turned off on their system.
I'm not sure if there is a way to see if you have any freeloaders via an IP address.

Sounds like you accidently got changed to another store....
So, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store, and click on your AppleID at the top. Then click on View account, sign in, and then click on Country/Region, and follow the instructions to change your store to South Africa.
That should take care of it!

I had trouble with my computer in May 2013 and called Comcast for help, they referred me to you at 877-458-5817. I ended up connected to and got assistance from GURUAID in India. I was convinced to get a contract for cleaning up the many problems on my computer for i year for $169. What is your connection to them. Do you have your own tech help for customers?? I am confused.
