What have I done??!!!!!!
Well everything was working fine. I have 3 laptops running an unsecured wireless connection through a WRT56G router. I have a feeling that someone in my neighborhood is stealing my wireless internet connection so I decided to log into my router and change the security settings and place a WEP key access. Now I have no internet connection. I do have an internet connection when directly connected to the modem but nothing through the router. I have tried resetting the router, unplugging it, holding the reset button for 30 sec, all that over and over. Please tell me how to get back to the way I had it originally set. I don't care if everyone in my town can connect to it. Or can you tell me an easy way to set the router to require a password to access a connection? Please help!!
Log on to your router and click on wireless tab. Change the ssid to something other than Linksys example: Newfie. Click on Save. Now click on wireless Security. Set Security mode to WPA Personal. Set Algorimths to AES. Set passphrase in WPA Share key Examble 1a2b3c4d.
Now go to the computer with a wireless adaptor. Click on view wireless network You will see your network. Example Newfie Secured network click on your network. It will asks for the key use the passphrase you setup in your router.

What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:

GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system. But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio. Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

I have done something terrible! now some of my photos will not open up, I can see them in the 'event' but if I click on some of them I get a gray triangle with an exclamation point. What have I done and how do I rectify it?
The exclamation shows when the file path/link to the original file has been broken. Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

HA! It turns out, that an app that I've never used before, became active during a time that I was multitasking and didn't realize it. I didn't notice the effects right away, because my main desktop has a special 3D desktop generator called, bumptop, which covers over any other desktop color or graphic in that area. So it wasn't until I swiped to go to a different desktop, that I noticed the random slideshow being displayed. All fixed now. What a relief.

IPad 3 light leak under the bezel? What have you done about it?
If you have an iPad 3. Tilt towards you, looking underneath the bezel (under the camera) has your iPad got any lights showing? It's not bleeding onto the screen, in fact it doesn't interfere at all under normal use of the iPad. I have read many forums and it does seem to be quite common,but i would like to know what have you done about it? Have you replaced within 14 days and got a brand new iPad and been satisfied ? Or have you had another with worse or different issues? Or have you ignored the issue and kept the iPad?
I walked into comet and the first iPad 3 I picked up had exactly the same issue. I asked the bloke, he said yes? It's no problem, it's common in led screens and with the iPads new retina screen your bound to get this problem on some but it's no problem as doesn't effect your everyday use. Not the point though is it, we pay 400-579 for this thing!
I also rang apple and they spoke with their technical team and they came back and said the lights under the bezel seems unusual. To try and restore the iPad and see if that solves it. Solves a hardware problem?? How did they get their jobs? Crazy. So now I am in the middle of returning the iPad for a replacement but I am debating whether to even bother as I have read a lot of replacements people have received have numerous other problems, like dead pixels, light leakage, scratches.
I would appreciate any feedback from those who have had this same issue and what did you do about it ?Mine has some along the right side. It is very slight, and does not affect the screen,even with a black image displayed in a dark room. So I chose to ignore it. This iPad will be going back though, as the bottom half of the screen has a pink tint on it. My advice is to see if it affects a dark picture in a dark room. If it doesn't, I would keep it. But in the end, you have to make your own decision and be comfortable with it. :)

Where are all my bookmarks - what have you done with Mozilla? you have screwed up my computer!
Everything I had on my tool bar, and all the sites listed in my Bookmarks are GONE!!!
What have you done with those sites? They were very important to me - I can not handle all these changes by Mozilla - None of these changes are of any use to me. I want to go back to my original screen and when I logged on today you would not let me access my internet and original screen without entering info that changed everything on my computer window!!! Mozilla Firefox is not user friendly - I don't want all these apps - EBay, Weather or YouTube! I had the necessary sites listed that are important and used everyday - not those listed. Who are you to determine what "apps" I should be using???

It really is infuriating to have this level of interference with my personal affairs on my computer without even seeking my consent. Ideally I want a return to the earlier version of Firefox which worked perfectly well for me - I'm plagued with excessive slowness and freezing since the latest -Firefox 5.0- update was installed. Is there any simple way to revert back to the earlier version of Firefox?

Hi The best option is to do a factory Reset this will get rid of any bugs And set up iPad as new. Just use same Apple ID you will get all your Apps & Data back. Do this over Wifi Cheers Brian

I have a new computer. I have copied Itunes library from an external hard drive. Itunes now tells me I cannot sync with my Ipod as it thinks the 20gb on the computer are different to the 20gb on my Ipod touch! What have I done wrong? How can I fix it? Alan

If you already updated to 8.0 you're doing nothing wrong. It's one of the lovely issues created by the update. I just tested mine, same problem.

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu. I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine. The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day. I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen. Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal. When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend. I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library. Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed. Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto? If so have you clicked "upgrade"?
Good luck Liz, if you have Time Machine running as a back up to your library, maybe you wil be able to get help there, by following my instructions above. Otherwise, good luck with your investigations. I'd be interested in hearing how you make out.

Slideshow - does not run! What have I done wrong?
It's stuck on the first image, does not run to the next.
Can't remember that I done any changes. What have I done wrong?Perhaps an over simplified question, but have you selected more than the first image? Slideshow only runs for the images selected, and not all images in an album or project, unless selected. Sorry if this is too basic.
