I recently received a Sony Bloggie MHS-TS20 camcorder. What type of HDMI cable do I need so I can view the video on my High-Def TV? A regular HDMI cable does not fit this camcorder.

There are only two types of HDMI cables (standard and high speed - listen to all 1.2, 1.3 etc etc nonsense they will try to tell in the store) both types will work with the Apple TV.
The cable may be faulty though, have you got another to try, what exactly is happening.

Things that are nice but not critical:
24AWG wires - the premium cables from my favorite supplier are in this category. The cheap ones are 28AWG. (Larger number = thinner wire). 24AWG wires will make the cable more reliable and also more durable, but also less flexible. The big ripoff artists like Monster won't even tell you this particular specification! If you are paying more than $10 for a 6-foot 24AWG cable, you are paying too much by the way.
Net/mesh jacket/sheath - provides a little extra protection for the cable and looks nice too. Still, again - don't pay more than $10 for a 6-foot cable or you're getting ripped off.

We got my father-in-law an SX 170 SI camera for Christmas. His TV does not have an SD card reader, however it does have a standard HDMI input. I'd like to obtain an inexpensive HDMI cable so he can view his photos on his flatscreen TV. The connection on the camera is much smaller than the standard HDMI, not sure what size it is. Firstly apologies if this question has been previously answered. However I have been trawlling the internet for ages trying to find out the correct cables to set up a macbook to an HD tv. All I want to do is connect two devices but everything I read seems to be about macbook pro 2009 onwards - what about those of us you have older macs?
Sometime ago I was given as a present an iwires mini display to hdmi cable set. On the box it said suitable for Macbook pre 2010. My Macbook is a 13" duo core 2006 . Anyway the cable didn't fit and because the package had been opened couldn't get a refund.
Please can anyone in simple terms tell me which HDMI cables I need to connect to the tv so that I get both audio and video.

The Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody have a Mini DisplayPort. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s have Mini-DVI ports. Each would take a different adapter to connect with the TV.

You'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate audio input plugs on your TV.
If you connect the MacBook using a Mini-DVI to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo system for audio if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini-DVI to HDMI doesn't carry audio and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. Check your TV manual though to see if it might have audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.

How do i get my surround sound to work with my laptop while using a hdmi cable for the video

I have a Sony surround sound system hooked up that works great. My X-Box 360 works with it and I can get my HP G60 to play audio files through the surround sound system with a red and white audio jack plugged into the back of my surround sound receiver, the red and white audio cord goes to a 3.5mm headphone jack that i plug into the headphone plug on the front of my computer. The problem occurs when I hook my HDMI cable into my computer and connect it to my Samsung Flat screen, the HDMI sound takes over and wont allow the sound to go through the headphone jack. My tv does not have any audio output plugs, and my suround sound reciever doesnt have an HDMI input. Is there a setting on the computer that will allow me to over ride the HDMI sound and direct the sound through the head phones? or is there an app or tool that will allow my laptop to recognize my suround sound system plugged into my laptop? I have been to best buy, walmart, radio shack and even my local car audio store to ask about this issue and everyone has a different solution, and so far none of them have worked???????? sincerley frustrated! please help!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

- first: yes it is a real HDMI-port but it is a Mini-HDMI-port.
- second: So you need a "Mini-HDMI to HDMI Cable". Its not included.

2 questions: validity of my machine's status as a 3.1 Mac Pro, and what PCIE cables for Radeon 4870?

Hello, I bought a used mac pro from a guy that said it was a 3.1. It runs great and when I go to "About this Mac" and then to "More info" and look at the hardware info, it says that it is indeed a 3,1. However, the serial number sticker on the back says it's a 2.8! Any insights into that? I'm very new to Mac Pro desktops and I just want to make sure I didn't get ripped off.
My second question. The machine came with the standard X2 quad 2.88 GHz processor, 8gb of Ram, and a Radeon 2200 graphics card. I bought an ATI Radeon HD 4870 from a guy on craigslist but he didn't have the power cables for it. He said it wasn't a big deal and after I did some research it looks like I need some PCIE power connectors. The card takes two, 6 pin power cables. My question is where do I plug them in on the logic board? That is an 8-pin. And I just posted Amazon link to 6-pin in another graphic card upgrade thread minutes ago.
And it had a ATI 2600XT. good thing you replaced it.
10.6.8 tends to run best but try - andkeep 10.8.x and see how it goes. Also more options later in graphic cards.
Call Apple and have them check the serial number and they can provide for small $20?fee the OEM DVDs it shipped with (10.5.x) and Apple Hardware Test. They can also sell 10.6.3 DVD
I would have looked for the ATI 5770, better support, the 4870 lacks some ML (Mountain Lion) support for OpenCL.

Male HDMI cable for 6 Plus?

I am trying to find the correct cable I need. I want to connect my phone (6+) to the television in our RV to watch our DVR'd (Dish Network/Hopper app) shows.
