What hosting platform must i use with iweb? unix or microsoft

what hosting platform must i use with iweb? unix or microsoft? This is a question from my ISP.

You should always pick Linux hosting and NOT Windows - this causes more problems than it is worth.
If your ISP is asking this question, then consider changing - they should know this.

What are the web host options that will work with iWeb?

Most website hosting services will work with iWeb created sites so long as you choose a Linux account.
If you are new to FTP, you should choose a host who has good 24/7 tech support in your language of choice.
A couple of examples are shown here...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Website-Hosting.html
The first one allows a trial period and a 30 day money back deal. The second has a free version which you can subsequently upgrade to a paid one with more facilities once you are satisfied with its performance. This means you don't have to commit or pay until you are satisfied and have learned the techniques.
iWeb gives you two options for publishing via FTP...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/iWeb/Publish-Website.html
The latter method allows you to add tags for SEO...

... and to optimize iWeb's bloated code for faster download performance in the browser...

  • Compressing clips for use with iweb?

I have got a video clip I want to use with iweb to upload onto my site, however it's 14mb. There was a tip that flashed up to say if I export using quicktime it will make the file smaller.
However I did this and now it's 37mb!
How can I compress it for iweb without losing too much content?

Does a bigger file not take longer for the person viewing to be able to watch it, or is it a case then that once it's uploaded, they can view it instantly? If it's the latter then that's not a problem.
As they say, "time is relative to motion." In this case case, that faster the ISP connection, the faster a "Fast Start" movie will begin to play. By this I mean that a "Fast Start" movie must cache enough data so that is is not likely to overrun the data as it is being downloaded. A larger file will, of course, have to "cache" more data before beginning to play. But how noticeable this time difference is, in turn, related to both the size of the file and the speed of the connection. If your connection is on the order of 1.6 Mbps then the delay for a 1500-1600 Kbps movie no matter what its total duration, should not be that long. On the other hand, if you or your target users are using a 1.1 Mbps connection, then there will some delay which would be directly proportional to the total size of the movie (i.e., the total duration x the average data rate per unit of time) In this case you would likely prefer a smaller sized file. And, of course, one way to make the file smaller is to decrease its display dimensions (i.e., maintain constant quality over a smaller viewing area) and another would be to decrease the data rate (i.e., reduce quality of the same viewing area). For some, the question is more one of minimal acceptable quality. Once again, the iMovie '08 H.264/AAC pre-sets are generally a good compromise between data rate (quality) and files size (cache download time).

I have got a Activation Lock on my iPhone and I need to get it activated. I don't know what Apple ID I was using with my iPhone. It shows as U***@h******.uk which is too short to be my email address. I have reset all my Apple ID passwords and none are activating my iPhone. I have also been into the apple store and they have tried to find out the Apple ID my iPhone was using but this was not successful. The serial number of my iPhone is: C32JN641DTWF

You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

Access the homescreen and tap "Settings."
Go to "Mail, Contacts, and Calendars" and tap "Add Account." Your iPhone should display a list of email service providers. Even though you are setting up a Hotmail account, you will be doing it first through Gmail on your iPhone. Tap the Gmail icon to create a new account. Enter your name and a user name and password for the new Hotmail account you will be making later. Enter "imap.gmail.com" in the "HostName" column. Press the "Save" button at the upper right corner of the screen.
Enter your name, email address, password, and the description of the account. Next, click "Save." You should now be able to check your email from the homescreen.
Enter "smtp.gmail.com" in the "Outgoing Mail Server." Enter the password for this Gmail account in the "Password" column. Enter user name for this Gmail account in the "UserName" column. Press the "Save" button at the upper right corner of the screen. Press the "Home" button to return to the iPhone's home screen.
Use the Web browser to go to Hotmail.com and create a new account. Use the user name and password for the account that you entered into the Gmail account on the iPhone earlier. Click on “Settings” after the account has been created.
Click on the "Settings" tab. Click on the "Forwarding" tab. Click on the "Pop/IMAP" tab and select "Enable IMAP." Click on the "Save” button. Click on “Settings” and select “Accounts” and then “Add Another Email Address” from the webpage. Enter the name of your existing Hotmail account in the column. Press “Save.”
Go to the inbox. Open the message from Gmail and click on the link in the message box. Select the “Options” tab and check the “Forwarding email” box.
Send yourself a message to your Hotmail account from an email client. Click on the icon of the Mail program at the bottom of the iPhone’s screen. The email you sent to Hotmail will appear in the inbox of the Gmail account in the iPhone's email.

  • What video codecs can be used with Premiere CS4?

What video codecs can be used with Premiere CS4?  Or are there to many to list?  I'm looking for a solution to import a .AVI file created with a H.264 codec.

PrPro can work with so very many, but certainly not all. Some, like DivX will work for Export, but I have never gotten good Import of that material - always something wrong somewhere.
For H.264, there are three very popular versions: Apple, Lead and MainConcept. The Apple version installs with later versions of QT Player, the other two are available, and many users like them better. They solve some H.264 problems, mainly with Export.

  • What hardware is comparable to use with adobe programs, screens, cpu, hard-drives, printers, mouse,

What hardware is essential to use with these types of programs?  video, keyboard, cpu, printers, mouse, etc.  C5 program I am interested in.

While some people on this forum use CS5, the forum itself is devoted to Lightroom, which isn't at all the same, even though it has Photoshop in its name. You'd probably have much better luck by asking your question on one of the Photoshop forums.

  • What we will have to do with iWeb hosting?

I have build my web page, quite complicated and sofisticated, with iweb, it is hosted in idisk and redirected to a server, but I am very worried now because after some months apple will not support anymore iweb. What I will have to do? I am very confused.

The following is to reinforce Ethomid's statement about iWeb still being usable after MobileMe is gone:
It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:
Features No Longer Available Once MobileMe is Discontinued:
    ◼ Password protection
    ◼ Blog and photo comments
    ◼ Blog search
    ◼ Hit counter
    ◼ MobileMe Gallery
All of these features can be replaced with 3rd party options.
I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken.  If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows.  Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.
However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone.  How to is described in this tutorial: #26 - How to Modify iWeb So Popup Slideshows Will Work After MobileMe is Discontinued.
NOTE: the iLife 11 boxed version Is no longer available at the online Apple Store.  To get a copy you'll have to try Amazon.com or eBay.com.

  • What other sites can you use with Libsyn/Blubrry?

I noticed that Libsyn has an option to publish to blogger.
If you wanted to have a wordpress site, do you need to get another web host or can you use the storage of your podcast files, via FTP, to a few pictures, etc. for your podcasts' site?
One consistent complaint with Libsyn is how terrible their websites are, I don't mind blogger, but I'd like to know what my other options are...
Blubrry seems to have wordpress support as a normal feature.
could you use a google+ page as your podcasts' main site? Tumblr?
    Thanks again!

Pse 10 can use most of the plugins that work in the full photoshop.

  • What LDAP schema should I use with JMQ 2.0?

I've just downloaded the JMS 2.0 beta for Solaris and trying to set up a admin objects store with LDAP server (NES 4.12). However I cannot find a LDAP schema file to import into the LDAP server in your release. Would it be possible to send me a copy?

As far as I know, you don't need to import any LDAP schema into
Netscape Directory Server 4.12 (I assume this is what you
are using) to store the administered objects.
Are you seeing "schema violation" errors when you use jmqobjmgr ?
If that is the case, what lookup name are you using ? Does
your lookup name have the form:
    "cn=myLookupName"
In most cases (it can be overriden), LDAP servers require lookup names
    to have the above format.

  • What is best outliner to use with Pages?

I'm disappointed that Pages does not have any sort of outline function built in.
What is the best of the stand-alone OS X outliners to use with Pages?
As far as I can tell none will export to Pages directly, nor will Pages import directly from any. But is there one that works better than the rest?
    Your suggestions please!

Head over to versiontracker.com or macupdate.com and search for outliners. (There's even a website dedicated to outliners - outliners.com) There are a bunch. I was a huge fan of More (sadly dead) and tried out several that didn't make me happy. Then with a new computer Apple bundled OmniGroup's Outliner. I used it, upgraded it, and then upgraded to the Pro version. It isn't More - but for me it is the best. My wife likes another, called Tao I think.

  • What lightning cable can be used with iPhone 4?

What lightning cable should be used for the iPhone 4? All the cables I have looked at do not say for iPhone 4, but for iPhone 5, etc.

Well that's really interesting, since my iPhone 4 has a lightning connector on the bottom & the charging cable sent with it is USB on one end & lightning connector on the other. BTW, I tried a USB to lightning cable my brother has been using with his iPhone 5 & it charged my iPhone 4 just fine.
    Thanks for replying, though.
