First plug it in to charge for 10 - 15 minutes and see if it will turn on.
Then do a reset, hold down both the home and sleep/power buttons at the same time. Continue to hold them down until the apple logo appears. This could take as long as 3 - 5 minutes. Normally it takes about 15 - 20 seconds, but if there is something goining on inside your phone it will take longer.

That screen means it has gone into recovery mode. You need to connect to a computer running iTunes by following the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 for the procedure of recovery mode connection.

Thanks for your quick answer. What is DFU mode? My problem is that the iPhone does not respond at all.
I am trying with the cable of the iPod now, but still the same: the laptop does not detect the iPhone and the iPhone does not turn on. I think the iPhone cable works because when I connect it to the power as if I was charging the battery, the Apple logo appears on the screen but that's all. I only have one computer at home.

The iPhone from Dubai will never be able to have FaceTime. The iPhone country of origin (serial no. and imei no.) is the culprit. The government there has banned FaceTime.
