What I think I've learned about resource allocation & disk management. Check my work?

Based on this post: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4603182, it seems that getting a separate eSATA drive to use as a cache drive would be a good decision and the single upgrade I could make that would make the most difference.
Here is my current drive setup and my ideas about resource management:
OS Drive: programs only, no Windows page file or media, etc.
Video Drive: for all my imported/transferred my video files (also see "Audio Drive" below)
Pix Drive: for all my still pix
Audio Drive: for any dual system audio, narration, and maybe even the embedded/recorded audio files from the imported/transferred video.
Sampler Drive (doesn't count except for Windows page file)
It appears to me that I should get an 7200rpm eSATA drive to use exclusively as a cache drive and keep my current allocations until I con reconfigure things for even more efficiency.

I think it highly unlikely that adding a 6th drive could make "the most difference" in your current rig.
And, to comment on how to help your current setup, we need a LOT more into to provide the best suggestions.
Please tell us about:
- current hardware (cpu, RAM, drive models and capacities, GPU)
- what version of Premiere Pro? (the hardware needs have changed subtly in recent years)
- what media are you editing? single or multiple layers? any 3rd party filters?
- what are your current bottlenecks (i.e. timeline stutters, render outputs to Blu-ray, etc.)

Ok, I'll keep this short and sweet. I've a Mac mini, my parents have a Dell laptop. Both have wireless, so I figured I'd make a computer-to-computer network. Great. So I did, and at first, ONLY the Windows computer could see my Mac and open it's files and such. Then something happened on my Mac and I could open the files on the Windows. Then for some reason the Windows restarted... now I can't open the files on the Windows machine anymore. Help please.

I am going to assume that your Windows computer is running either XP Home or Vista, but not a "Pro" version. What happens when your mac searches for other computers using "windows networking" is that your computer looks to find the computer responsible for the "browser" service.
In a typical home scenario, both your mac (using samba) and the Dell are going to send out some messages saying "let's have an election to see which of us is responsible for running the browser service".
If for some reason the computers do not see the other's election request, then they both think they are the workgroup browser, and this can lead to a situation like you describe.
One way to force the Dell to be the workgroup browser, and possibly solve you problem, is to open /Applications/Utilities/Directory Access
Click the lock if necessary in Directory Access, then select SMB/CIFS from the Services tab. Click Configure, then make sure that the workgroup name is the same as on your PC (default is WORKGROUP) and that the IP address of the WINS Server is the address of your dell.
If you have DHCP setup on both machines, this is going to be a pain because you will have to do this every time your computers restart. You can remedy that to some extent by assigning your computers to use DHCP with a manual address. On the mac side, it is easier because you can use the "Locations" feature to create a network setup for "Home". I haven't found a reliable way of doing this on the PC, but as long as the Dell stays at home, you won't have to change to much.

With all of the big changes that have gone on with Lion, surely it would have made sense for Apple to have provided how the new commands work? What is the best way to learn about how things have changed?

Apple has tended in my expereince to provide intuitive software that users can grow to use and admire. Why then does Lion go off at a tangent and become unintuitive and just plain hard work to work out? I run a business and this has caused a lot of time consuming effort particularly when working out how to save files (in certain programs). Like so many products (iPhone being one), there is no guide to the great things that can be done and I just don't have the time to go fishing around online looking for tips and tricks when I've got clients who need things quickly.

If u want decent HP laptop get either probook or elitebook , and dont go for amd/radeon they are junk.
If u want laptop which will run forever , buy Intel I3/I5/I7 processor and Intel HD graphics version.

Be sure to install the latest version of Safari (version 5.1.7) which is available via Software Update (in the Apple menu) if you have not already installed it. This update will automatically disable older versions of Flash when new versions are available, and will instruct you on how to install the latest version on your system. This should help keep your system safe from any vulnerabilities in Flash.
Note that this is only useful if you use Safari, though other browsers have their own update mechanisms you should research and enable or configure to your liking.

If you have a sponsorship, I would recommend taking classes with Oracle University. The other resources are documentation, functional and technical depending on what your interests are.
If you can load Vision database or access vision database (I think solutionbeacon offers a free account to login and play around), that will be another resource as well.
As you learn, join as much user groups like this one, and review all questions and answers in the discussions to understand and learn more.

Want to learn about xCode

I bought my first Mac in february and I love everything about it. that said, I've been trying to get my hands on as much software as possible and I'm interested in learning about xCode. is there somewhere I can get started, right from scratch? How C Programming Works
Since you are just starting, my advice is to stay out of Xcode, just for little bit. Go through some basic "HelloWorld" tutorials. Learn how the terminal works. Learn a little bit about the process of compiling a source file into an executable. Xcode is very good, but it hides a lot of what is going on underneath. I think you would be much more effective with Xcode if you knew a little about that hidden stuff.

Learning about 3D Maths for 3D graphics

Hello everybody,
I'd like to learn about 3D Maths so that I can learn about 3D graphics programming. I've been searching around the Internet for guides and have found some. I've learned a bit from what I've found on the net such as matrix arithmetic and vectors etc. These two things are apparently key to 3D graphics. Thus far however I've been unable to put all this stuff together in order to create something as simple as, say, a 3D rotating wire frame box (that old chestnut). Does anybody here have any good links to websites which may set me in the right direction regarding 3D graphics/Maths? I'll be very grateful for any help. Thanks a lot.

Ah, back in the day when real programmers coded protected mode managers and 3D engines. And we liked it that way! Or course, we were still too wussy to walk uphill in the snow. That was for old geezers. :P

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Get a copy of "Tricks of the Game Programming Gurus" if you can find it. That book contains practically every formula you'd ever need for 2D and 3D work. Plus, it's fun to read. :-)

I'm a new user to SharePoint Wiki but have a lot of content that would work well in a wiki format that I want to input. This is an enterprise SharePoint system and I am only a user.
I am frustrated by the default formatting, and would like scalable way of altering the formatting. I need to learn about formatting options in sharepoint but I don't know where to start.

Using Learn About FireFox and the 'Markers' disappeared never to return?

Downloaded and installed FF4 for Mac
Elected to ‘Learn about FireFox’, the browser complete with the Markers and dotted track/order to access line was displayed.
Hit the first Marker and the relevant info window displayed.
Hit the next Marker and then was distracted by another link and hit that.
Returning (back button probably) to the learning session found all the Markers had disappeared.
Tried various things to get the Markers to reappear but no luck so far.
I did not restart FF4 but surely this should not be necessary?
I will do this now but think this needs attention.

EDIT: From the links obtained via a Google, I followed the most prominent to Mozilla.com and the info lead me to believe I was downloading FF4. I see this is not so!

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?
