What if I didn't charge my mac all the way before using it for the first time?

Okay, so I got my Macbook for Christmas this past year (Mid 2011 model) and of course I was screaming my head off with excitement.
I powered it up, starting using it for a little bit, then plugged it in to keep it going. I didn't charge it all the way to 100%, I think I was using it for about three hours while it was plugged in and up for the first time. That night, however, it did charge all the way and I don't see any problems with my battery, but I wouldn't know if it was operating at full capacity if the capacity I've been using this whole time has been lowered.
Thanks!

Ahh.. okay?
I was just curious because they all say to charge it fully for the first time.. didn't know if this did anything to the battery or not.

  • What best software to order with my Mac pro 6 core to use it for rendering

    Hello everyone,
we're migrating our equipment from PC to Mac, I ordered a new Mac pro 6core.... and the supplier asked me for what software to include in it. Well I'm using this computer for rendering so its obvious I will ask for FInal Cut x, but is there's anything that I should ask for other than it, I just need a list of essential softwares to ask for, hope someone can help me here and one tiny detail, I have a microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse, would they function normally on my new mac, or I'm obliged to get a mac wireless mouse & keyboard ( i need wireless stuff cz of my office, its a bit small). Thanks in advanced.

Check out Apple Compressor. It offers a wide range of encoding and reformatting capabilities. Compressor's basic capabilities are embedded into FCPX, but the stand-alone application offers far more control. You can increase rendering speeds by setting up multiple instances of the application. Not saying it's the best compression app on the market, but for $50,, it is an excellent value.

  • What is the best external hard drive for the MAC Book Pro with Retina?

What is the best external hard drive for the MAC Book Pro with Retina?
I was looking at WD MY PASSPORT FOR MAC and Toshiba. I want something that will work best with time capsule! Suggestions on the best external hard drive would be greatly appreciated!!!

A Time Machine backup drive should be substantially larger than the system drive.  If you have a 128 or 256 GB SSD then a 1 TB drive will suffice.  If you have a 512 GB SSD then a 2 TB drive will suffice.  As leroydouglas indicated any brand other than WD will do.
For 1 TB drives PlotinusVeritas gives some great suggestions here:

A 2 TB drive sold by Apple:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H9378ZM/A/lacie-2tb-usb-30-porsche-design-p923 3-desktop-hard-drive
    $130
A 2 TB drive just as good for only $92.

My iPad is not being scanned by my iTunes software on my mac. My iPad has been disabled for a long time and i need to any how open it up. What should i do?

    Hello, j2isgr8.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPad is disabled and not recognized in iTunes.  Here are the troubleshooting steps that I would recommend going through when experiencing this scenario.
Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled

Hello to everyone!I think that I have installed a virus to my mac because safari opens advertising sites all the time and Facebook stucks a lot. What i should do to make my mac as it was before?

From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.

    Hi kamfong,
    Went to Settings where?
If you want to use your exisiting Apple ID on your iPad, you need to:
    1.     Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign out the new ID, and then sign on the old one
    2.     Go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account, and the sign back onto iCloud using the old ID
You still have not indindated why you are saying that using your old ID originally "didn't work". What do you mean by that? Did you get some sort of error when you tried to sign on with your exisiting Apple ID?

  • So all the bookmarks I've "bookmarked" for the past year are just gone - I have a mac, how do I go back & retrieve everything I've ever bookmarked on Firefox?

So all the bookmarks I've "bookmarked" for the past year are just gone - I don't understand why Firefox just doesn't automatically save every bookmark you make each session & put them in a place so you can organize them ... maybe there's some extra step you can take every session to force firefox to do this - I don't know what that is - but am also a bit aggravated that there has to be an extra step to do this - Internet Explorer just auto saves everything you bookmark, why can't Firefox - I see this as a big disadvantage to Firefox that needs to be made much simpler ... I have a mac, how do I go back & retrieve everything I've ever bookmarked on Firefox?
I think all the details are sufficiently covered in the question (which then in filling out the help form Firefox quite sillily made me shorten so I reposted the whole thing in this comment above - just another unnecessary step, seems to be the Firefox norm)
And btw the articles on lost bookmarks, saving bookmarks, etc. - were not helpful at all. Very not helpful. Almost anti-helpful.
I generally like Firefox & use it all the time, but this one area as to bookmarks is very frustrating & causing me to seriously consider not using Firefox at all & switching back to Internet Explorer or another browser like Google Chrome. What's the point of bookmarking something (which by itself indicates you are wanting to save the site link so you can re-find & re-visit it in the future) if Firefox just auto deletes all your bookmarking everytime it starts up? Just a completely user-unfriendly idea.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

  • I put my iPad into DFU mode without thinking much about it. I didn't realize I would lose everything. Is there a way to get everything back the way I used to have it before I tried recovering my iPad?

A couple of days ago my iPad died, so I plugged it in to charge. It went into a rebooting loop, and when I looked up how to fix this, I saw that I can put my iPad into DFU mode to fix certain things like this. I did, not thinking much about it because l had seen both of my parents get new phones and everything was slowly but surely on their phone the way it was on their old phones.
I thought that even though I agreed to the iPad being put back into factory settings, I thought I would be able to get everything back the way it used to be just by logging into iCloud when setting it up. I was wrong. This is a school iPad, so all of my notes are gone. The only things that were backed up were my photos. All the games, social media, etc. that I had downloaded prior were gone. Even my notes.
Is there a way I can get everything back to the way it used to be, or was agreeing to put the iPad back into factory settings the wrong thing to do? Was it a mistake to take it upon myself to fix my iPad in this restarting loop? I would really like to get everything back, especially my school notes.

The only way to get everything back is by restoring a backup. If you didn't have a backup, there is nothing that you can do to recover your lost documents and your notes. If you have a backup restore the backup in order to recover your data. Purchased apps can always be downloaded again as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought them with, but data can only be recovered from a backup or if you have copies of the documents and notes on a computer.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using iCloud or iTunes - Apple Support

Kindly inform any email id or toll free number to contact apple for your below answer, Mr.King_Penguin
About receiving my credit card being debited for Free App Store Application downloads,
It should be within a few days, but it might vary a bit by bank/provider :
I am in India, if the bank don't refunds , what to do?
Rajagopal.pngr :-  It is only a holding charge, it is not a permanent charge. If it isn't refunded within a few days or so (and it quite possibly won't be over a weekend) then you can query the charge with Apple.

  • HT4906 I want to download the new updates I think to the 10.9 but our mac was given to us and when it comes to the last page it asks for the user name and password but this mac was wiped clean. How do I find out this info so I can get iPhoto?

I want to download the new updates I think to the 10.9 but our mac was given to us and when it comes to the last page it asks for the user name and password but this mac was wiped clean. How do I find out this info so I can get iPhoto? To be honest I'm not even sure what type of Mac I have and don't know how to find out what kind it is
I'd also like to make address labels and don't know where to find that either

You would make address lables with the Contacts app.
If you don't have the user name and password used to set up the machine then you need to purchase the apps for yourself.

  • Help! Some features of Mac OS X Mavericks are not supported for the disk "Macintosh HD"

I'm on a MacBook 13" mid 2010, OS X 10.7.5, I want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks. I have searched around for a few days, I find people with the same problem but can't really get the solution for it. I prefer not to reinstall OS X, I want to upgrade. I don't have boot camp or something just a 250 GB HD.
Well, while I'm trying to upgrade from the download from Apps Store, I open the installer, press continue then accepts the Terms.. then select Macintosh HD and click install, then an warning message shows up "Some features of Mac OS X Mavericks are not supported for the disk "Macintosh HD"
As I've read the article that is included in the waring message i did try to install anyway because it say that I would be fine, but when i did try to install the installer starts and after like 3 minutes a window appears, Install Failed.
I've even try to make a installer on USB, both with the command in terminal and with Diskmaker, but it does not help.
It seems impossible to upgrade. Please Help me.

First, see the heading "What to do if the installer warns that no Recovery System can be created" in this support article. If you use Boot Camp, back up and delete the Windows partition using Boot Camp Assistant. Try the installation again.

  • Some features of Mac OS X Lion are not supported for the disk

At the beginning of the installation on my MacBook Pro (early 2008, non-unibody) this alert appeared. The disk is partitioned into three partitions: 1. = Photoshop-scratch, 2. = System, 3. = Bootcamp. It seems that this causes the system-message. What could be the reason for that: The Photoshop-partition or Bootcamp? Is it possible to erase just the PS-partition and then install Lion or do I have to reformat the disk?

  • HT4970 I have chosen not to use iCloud for the time being, and cannot get the Reminders i input on my Mac to replicate to my iphone and iPad?  any help is appreciated.

I have chosen not to use iCloud for the time being since the syncing was inconsistently working with the calender and contacts;  and cannot get the Reminders on my Mac to sync/replicate onto my ios device, neither iphone nor ipad.  Help is appreciated in respect to Reminders.  Thank you.

    ok, thanks.  couple other questions...
    1. will it sync to my reminders on my MAC too if i enter via icloud?  if not, what's the reason for  having the reminder list available on my Mac if it can't sync?
    2. I have 2 different email accounts, one with a .mac address and another with .msn.  both can be accessed via icloud.  i ran a test using my msn acct as the signin and it logged the reminder onto both the iphone and ipad fine.
however, when i try with my mac address, it only shows up on my iphone, which list reminders under icloud(which worked on both devices and then under mac which worked only on the iphone, not ipad.  any idea why that might be happening?
    thanks for your help.
