What if i have re-install ? what is my serial number .....

Question

I have been a Windose user for many years, but NEVER EVER again , i have now completely washed my hands of Bill Gates stuff. But all the years i was using Windose, every time I Installed or Re-Installed Windose i had to get the Serial Number exactly right and then you had to Activate, as if they didnt trust you to have only one copy of your Disc only running on a single computer. then when you download a Service Pack a little later, you had to let a bit of software check up again if you were legitimate !.
But in the new world of Mac and Apple over the last couple of weeks, i realise i havent got a Serial Number, i havent had to Activate anything and it looks as if i can reinstall the whole operating system extremely easily, so will i ever get or need a serial number ?, unless it is something to do with the serial number stamped on the underside of the case ??????

You should record your serial number, however.
Click the Apple icon at the upper left of your screen and select +About this Mac.+ That shows some basic info. Click where it says +Version 10.6.7,+ and it will show the Build number, which you'll probably never need. Click again and there will be your Mac's serial number.
