What if my MB Pro dies ?

Probably a stupid question, but i wonder whether time machine is also a 'pure' back up tool - and not only a tool go back in the history of the internal drive.
I'll try to be more clear.
1. In case my MacBook dies tomorrow for whatever reason and i plug the external drive into a new/another Mac, will i be able to find again all the files/software i have been backing up with time machine so far..?
2. what if i plug the hd into a Windows PC ? will it be seen as a normal external drive or it is now 'formatted' for Leopard only ?

I can answer that from experience!
1. Yes you can migrate from TM to a new Mac. Either when you set up or by using Migrate Asst.
2. I believe that if you have already formatted into HFS+ then it wont be read by a Win PC.

I bought the full Creative Cloud in hopes of making a career for myself in audio/visual editing. The problem is, my system doesn't seem to be able to handle the software, particularly when changing back and forth between the three programs mentioned above. ...although a little " old" now.....the fundamentals of your machine are still OK to get started IF you : 1. INCREASE your system memory to the full 32 GB....should make a BIG difference in performance.....8 GB is NOT enough, it will HINDER performance. 2. OVERCLOCK your CPU !!!.....many owners of your CPU have been safely running at 4.5 Ghz or HIGHER...some at 4.8 Ghz !!! This OC will make a DRAMATIC improvement as CPU speed is a huge factor in performance. 3. Improve your video card to a new NVidia 970 with 4 GB of video memory. 4. Check and MAKE SURE the power supply in your machine is ADEQUATE to handle everything, esp. if you overclock the CPU....generally 850 to 1,000 watts of a quality make is good. 5. Use a fast storage system...that means a SATA III SSD as your "C" drive, ( boot drive), being a Crucial M550 series,( or, M600 series), OR, a Samsung 850 Pro series SSD, ( more expensive). Other SSDs are NOT recommended, only these two makes are recommended for technical reasons. On this "C" drive, you should have Operating system, Programs, and Windows page file ONLY !! Your "D" drive can be ANOTHER single SSD to be used as a "cache drive" for all the previews, media cache, and cache files that Premier Pro creates PLUS, it can ALSO serve as the "Global Performance cache" used in After Effects. All your media and project files can go on your "E" drive. HERE you would have LIMITED OPTIONS because your motherboard only has TWO SATA III ports, ( which would already be used b the "C" and "D" SSDs). You NOW have only 4 SATA II ports left ......you COULD RAID 0 four 1 TB HDDs off these ports and have a 4TB backup drive connected to one of your TWO USB 3 external ports.....any DVD or Blue-ray can ALSO go on an external port.
However, if you are into spending REAL MONEY !!!.....Go Haswell E and X99 all the way !!...THAT will give you great performance !!

Additional info: there are a small subset of 4,1 MBPs that have the multitouch trackpad. I have one, purchased in late March 2008, just after Apple announced the feature was added to the MBP. I can scroll left/right in MC.

Metal Allergy, what is the MacBook Pro constructed of?

I recently was required to buy the MacBook Pro for my art school. However, I'm allergic to metal, all metals. So, I'm wondering, what is the MacBook Pro constructed of? Are the keys also metal? If so, does anyone know of anything, such as skins, that I can buy to cover parts of my computer where my hands will be or to cover the keys?

It really depends what you use it for.
I'm in my senior years in high school and I just bought my macbook pro (15 in - $1799 w/out tax). I'm willing to spend the extra money as I am planning to use it to continue my education in post secondary school. I think that the MBP is great for work, designing and for professionals. The MBA is great for portability and chicness. The graphics on the MBP is beyond my expectations and it's great. Its great for many things.
It all comes to this. Are you willing to spend the extra money on a MBP. What will you be using your computer for? WIll you be using it for a very long time? Are you going to be careful with it? I heard that the MBA is flimsy and can easily break.
I also recommend you ask a person at the Genius Bar at your local Apple store and they will be glad to assist you. I researched for a solid half of a year before i made a decision and bought my macbook pro.

The new 2013, lets call it the 6, 1 - and 10.9 will shred any iMac.
5, 1 6-core 3.33GHz 48GB RAM 4xSSD drives, 4x4TB media storage, GTX 680... us a BEAST and my old slow 2006 model is stronger and still more than enough from Aug 2006 when I bought it. You dont get that out of a iMac.

Hey guys, I want to know What does the Mac Pro does and which type of people use it.

To add a slightly less technical perspective, I bought a new Mac Pro because it fits my preferred working style rather than because I need its specific computing power (And also because my 2008 MP crapped out and I got tired of fixing it).
When my old Mac Pro died, I ran out and bought a Macbook Pro Retina and used it as my desktop while waiting for the new cylinder MP. The MBPr was stunning and performed like a champ. However, I was reluctant to use it as a laptop (i.e., travel with it) since it was my sole platform for client work and I didn't want to jeopardize my ability to work/deliver should something nasty happen on the road.
So maybe I'm a bit old fashioned, but I like to have a desktop mac for my primary workstation (I'm a graphic designer and photographer) and a laptop for the road. I use a high-end, wide spectrum monitor for color critical work, so while it's true that an iMac would have the power to run the stuff I need, I prefer to have options with my monitor.
Again, just another perspective that might factor into a purchase decision. How do you like to work and what works best for your situation? It isn't always mandatory to have the fastest and latest (unless, as in my case, it falls into your established criteria/working style).

Does iCloud calendar get wiped when my iPad/iPhone/MacBook Pro dies or gets wiped?

I have a simple question but I couldn't find the exact answer for it.
What happens if my MacBook Pro/iPad/iPhone gets wiped (recovery or reset) by accident or dies and if I try to remerge to the calendar on iCloud?
I assume that iCould will retain all the old information and an iDevice will automatically download the calandar events from iCloud when I remerge, since it seems like the same process as adding a new iDevice to the iCloud account.
Or will it also delete all the events on iCloud calendar when a device gets wiped?
