What if the log directory is full?

I've  just switched from Oracle to DB2.
I have a simple question: what if the log directory is full before the logs are archived?
Forgive me if this is to basic.
Thanks!

Hello,  this depends on the setting of the blk_log_dsk_ful database configuration parameter.

    What is the "Host Directory"?

    The above is correct for most Apache/Linux servers. When you are in Dreamweaver and setting up your site to use FTP, the host directory is /public_html/ and you are all set.
    It is the "root" of your host, the subdirectory on the server from which an Apache or IIS server is directed to draw the initial or start page of a website from, usually "index.html," "index.htm, "index.php," "index.asp," or "index.cf" Your hosting provider will be able to tell you this.

    Do thsese messages have same meaning?
    - My application didn't catch any exceptions, and

    So this "Rejecting update: Lease..." is not a error message, right?

  • What is the "Master Directory Block"

    I have an external LaCie firewire drive; when I plugged it in today it gave me a message saying, "This disk contains no volumes that Mac OS X can read" or something. I could then choose "Ignore", "Cancel" or "Initialize". When I clicked "Initialize", it opened up Disk Utility, and I tried Repair Disk. It said 1 volume was repaired and 1 had not been repaired, and in red it said, "Master Directory Block needs minor repair"
    What is the Master Directory block, and how do I repair it?

    This article, in the section titled "Design", describes the Master Directory block. I would get Diskwarrior or TechTool Pro to repair the disk.

  • Mail Reports that the home directory is full

    My iBook has Norton Firewall on it and when I connected it to the high speed internet in a hotel room, the Firewall went crazy logging thousands of hits in a few minutes. Eventually the iBook stopped and a multi-lingual message requested that I reboot the iBook.
    In the meantime, I had started the Mail program.
    Once I managed to get the iBook working again, (it took some time and I had to restart the machine with the shift key down), I ran the usual disk clean-up utilities, Disk Utility, DiskWarrior and Drive Genius. The machine then rebooted and everything except mail worked correctly. Mail will not start but instead reports the following:
    Mail cannot update your mailboxes
    because your home directory is full.
    You must free up space in your home folder before
    using Mail. Delete unneeded documents or move
    documents to another volume.
    There is lots of free disk space on this machine and I can work with files with other programs so I think a mail file must be corrupted. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows how to fix this problem.

  • Under Solaris 9, my system is complaining that the /var directory is full.

    Hi,
    What can I do to free up space in the /var directory without deleting or removing important files used by other processes and programs? Please help anyone!

    Hello,
    Most of the files in /va/adm folder are log files, you can safely delete/empty those files( caution: Dont delete the files without .0 or .1 etc extensions, Some applications does not work if log file does not exists). Make those files empty instead of deleting it. Do the same in /var/log folder.
    example:
    root@sal # ls -al /var/adm/
    total 3544
    drwxrwxr-x 9 root sys 512 Sep 26 03:10 .

    Hi,

  • What is the difference between a full and a upgrade version?

    When I want to buy photoshop elements 8.0 i can select a full or upgrade version, the price is alsmost thesame.
    normally you would think a upgrade is just a upgrade and you can't use it if you don't already have photoshop Elements installed.
    but in many online stores they only sell the upgrade version.
    so that makes me believe you can buy it even tho you don't have any photoshop elements on your pc.
    so what is the difference?

    The only difference between the Upgrade and Full version is of the pricing. I believe right now Adobe is already offering PSE at $79 so there is no Upgrade option appearing on the website (although I am not sure about unavailability, I just stating what one of the user on the forum says).
    Legally, you should be a previous customer of PSE to buy an upgrade version and I am not sure but I believe when one go for buying the Upgrade version they do need to provide the serial number of the previous verison.(not sure though)

  • What is the best practice for full browser video to achieve the highest quality?

    I'd like to get your thoughts on the best way to deliver full-browser (scale to the size of the browser window) video. I'm skilled in the creation of the content but learning to make the most out of Flash CS5 and would love to hear what you would suggest.
    Most of the tutorials I can find on full browser/scalable video are for earlier versions of Flash; what is the best practice today? Best resolution/format for the video?
    If there is an Adobe guide to this I'm happy to eat humble pie if someone can redirect me to it; I'm using CS5 Production Premium.
    I like the full screen video effect they have on the "Sounds of pertussis" web-site; this is exactly what I'm trying to create but I'm not sure what is the best way to approach it - any hints/tips you can offer would be great?
    Thanks in advance!

    Use the little squares over your video to mask the quality. Sounds of Pertussis is not full screen video, but rather full stage. Which is easier to work with since all the controls and other assets stay on screen. You set up your html file to allow full screen. Then bring in your video (netstream or flvPlayback component) and scale that to the full size of your stage  (since in this case it's basically the background) . I made a quickie demo here. (The video is from a cheapo SD consumer camera, so pretty poor quality to start.)
    In AS3 is would look something like
    import flash.display.Loader;
    import flash.net.URLRequest;
    import flash.display.Bitmap;
    import flash.display.BitmapData;
    import flash.ui.Mouse;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    import flash.display.StageDisplayState;
    stage.align = StageAlign.TOP_LEFT;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.NO_SCALE;
    // determine current stage size
    var sw:int = int(stage.stageWidth);
    var sh:int = int(stage.stageHeight);
    // load video
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    nc.connect(null);
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc);
    var vid:Video = new Video(656, 480); // size off video
    this.addChildAt(vid, 0);
    vid.attachNetStream(ns);
    //path to your video_file
    ns.play("content/GS.f4v");
    var netClient:Object = new Object();
    ns.client = netClient;
    // add listener for resizing of the stage so we can scale our assets
    stage.addEventListener(Event.RESIZE, resizeHandler);
    stage.dispatchEvent(new Event(Event.RESIZE));
    function resizeHandler(e:Event = null):void
    // determine current stage size
        var sw:int = stage.stageWidth;
        var sh:int = stage.stageHeight;
    // scale video size depending on stage size
        vid.width = sw;
        vid.height = sh;
    // Don't scale video smaller than certain size
        if (vid.height < 480)
        vid.height = 480;
        if (vid.width < 656)
        vid.width = 656;
    // choose the smaller scale property (x or y) and match the other to it so the size is proportional;
        (vid.scaleX > vid.scaleY) ? vid.scaleY = vid.scaleX : vid.scaleX = vid.scaleY;
    // add event listener for full screen button
    fullScreenStage_mc.buttonMode = true;
    fullScreenStage_mc.mouseChildren = false;
    fullScreenStage_mc.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, goFullStage, false, 0, true);
    function goFullStage(event:MouseEvent):void
        //vid.fullScreenTakeOver = false; // keeps flvPlayer component from becoming full screen if you use it instead
        if (stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.NORMAL)
            stage.displayState=StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;
        else
            stage.displayState=StageDisplayState.NORMAL;

  • What is the Logging Page?

    When I start up SQL Developer (1.2.0.29.98) on Windows XP Pro, it displays a blank Logging Page. It has Level, Sequence, Elapsed, Source, and Message.
    What is it? What is it used for? (Inquiring minds want to know.)
    Mike

    SKG,
    Please use a new thread for new queries. This was last addressed in 2007 and was answered.
    We're now handling the logging window slightly differently in 2.1, so I recommend you take a look at the Early Adopter that is available for testing. The Logging window shows up to report critical errors, in essence you should not be getting errors and so the logging won't appear. If it does show a serious error, then we should address the issue. What has happened is that the product is showing debug error messages.
    In 2.1 you can control the logging window, as some people do want to have it available, and you can set a preference in the later releases to show it. (By default this is hidden.)

  • What is the default directory for the PHP uploads, i.e. upload_tmp_dir = ?

    I would like to know the default directory that is referenced in the php.ini file under the category of "upload_tmp_dir =" for the OS X server 10.5.8.

    This is the best info that I have found:
    http://bugs.php.net/52460
    Still, just wondering what the default for 10.5.8 is supposed to be before I go and change the php.ini entries.

  • What is the best directory / location to store master document database?

    I would like to store my master database containing 14GB of data on the iPhone itself, and then use that to connect to my Mac computers (either the desktop, or one of my laptops). So I have a couple of choices that I am aware of. I can store everything inside of the Documents to Go directory. Or, I can store everything inside of OneDisk because that lets me upload to the cloud. It gets a little confusing to store data in the iDisk directory on the iPhone because each file that is downloaded gets its own folder with a very long name that is worthless in terms of organization. I am happy to keep a duplicate in the cloud of all 14GB, but I want the most current database to be on my phone. For OneDisk to upload, it looks like things need to be inside the OneDisk directory. Any suggestions? I want an organizational system that can be used at least until the next iPhone comes out. Thanks.

    If your XML data will not be larger than 4000 characters then use VARCHAR2 else CLOB. I don't see a need to use BLOB (unless your XML data contains binary information).

  • What is the "cores" directory at top level and their core.99999 files?

    At the top level of my Disk is a hidden directory called "cores".
    Within that directory are 105 files called "core.99999".
    The 99999 is a system assigned number?
    Each file is 380MB or very close, ie some are 381, some are 385.
    Each file of a particular size appears to arise in blocks of 8, 16, or 64
    My MacBook (early 2008) 4GB/750GB has been running slowly particularly when Safari builds up more than 3 Gb of Virtual Memory requirement.
    I found these files after a SuperDuper! backup showed about 40Gb less on the mirrored disk than on the inbuild system disk. I went searching with GrandPerspective and they appeared, beautifully arranged at top level of the disk, with the hidden cores directory at the same level as the System, Applications, Library and Users directories.
    I never saw these before in 10.6 Snow Leopard.
    Can I delete them manually, or via a procedure? They take up a lot of space.
    I am concerned they may be reason my MacBook pages VM very slowly as teh VM requirements of the programs I am running increases beyond 5 GB

    See https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages /man5/core.5.html for starters. FWIW, mine is empty. So, you should be able to delete these, just ensure that you leave the cores directory in place.

  • What are the log files created while running a mapping?

    Hi Sasi , I have a doubt who actually generates the " Log Events ". Is it the Log Manager or Application services ?

    Hi Anitha, The Integration service  will be generate two logs when the mapping runs 1) Session log  -- Has the details of the task ,session errors and load statistics..2) Workflow log -- Has the details of the workflow processing, and workflow errors..  The workflow log will be generated when the workflow started and the session log will be generated once the session intiated.For more detail Please refer the infa help docs... Normally the services will generate log  ex: IS and RS will log their activity...  The below process will happen the when the workflow inititated..[Copied fropm infa help docs] 1.#The Integration Service writes binary log files on the node. It sends  information about the sessions and workflows to the Log Manager.2.#The Log Manager stores information about workflow and session logs in the  domain configuration database. The domain configuration database stores  information such as the path to the log file location, the node that contains  the log, and the Integration Service that created the log.3.#When you view a session or workflow in the Log Events window, the Log Manager  retrieves the information from the domain configuration database to determine  the location of the session or workflow logs.4.#The Log Manager dispatches a Log Agent to retrieve the log events on each  node to display in the Log Events window.    ThanksSasiramesh
