What is a 3G plan?

I bought an iPad with wi-fi and 3G. I am not sure, or say, I don't know why I bought this one over just wi-fi..
My husband asked me and I don't know the answer. Please explain the difference as you see, the apple sales person did not make it clear enough to me to know why I purchased this one.

so, I could have gotten the other model. ???
If you are always within Wi-FI range and you don't need the GPS, then yes.
I was thinking of using when i went to the park for a walk or something. I could surf as I do on my iphone. (when seated of course)
But this would be when you want 3G, unless you're one of the lucky people with Wi-Fi in the park.
I have wireless at home..hum.. Me thinks I may not have really needed this if I'm not going to use that feature daily right? but, it's there if I do decide to hook up when I get to go on Vacation.
Yes, not needed at home, but on vacation, you now have a "large screen TomTom."
but you know, do you really take something this expensive to the beach?
Yes, I do. I used to take my laptop, read some news, etc. Not directly on the sand, but in grassy areas.
I have wi-fi at work but it would not connect. Do you think if I had the AT&T it would have found that server? or if it's weak at work, no server is going to go through?
Having (or not having) 3G would not have mattered with your work Wi-Fi. All iPads have Wi-Fi. So any iPad would have the same capability to connect to your work Wi-Fi. Likely your work Wi-Fi has encryption enabled so you need to ask your network administrator what settings to use.
A lot of people can't get on their cell phones throughout the hospital, in different locations. Could that be what was going on there also? Just not able to connect for some reason?
The iPad's 3G is the same cellular data network as AT&T cellular phones. So if your area has good AT&T coverage, then you probably would have been able to connect your iPad over 3G (if you had subscribed.) But if AT&T phone have poor reception, then your iPad would have had poor reception, so having the 3G model would not have helped. And to be perfectly clear, "a lot of people can't get on their cell phones" is very broad. If they were all T-Mobile phones, then that doesn't necessarily say anything about AT&T coverage. The webpage I linked to in the previous post has a link to AT&T's coverage map, so you can check to see if you're in a poor area or not. And a "good" area isn't a guarantee that 3G will work, as building materials & geography can affect cellular signals. Particularly a hospital, where many of the rooms may be shielded to protect against X-Ray machines, etc.
So my advice is that you keep the iPad you have. You may find a use for the GPS that you hadn't thought about or you may find that you'll want to use the iPad outside of the house (i.e.: in the park) more often. Otherwise, if you're within the return period for where ever you bought, you could return / exchange it for the Wi-Fi only model. (Or sell yours on eBay/Craigslist, then buy a Wi-Fi only iPad.) But I specifically bought my 3G iPad to get the GPS even though I don't need to use the 3G that much.

  • What is the best plan for me? *please read details*

My parents are getting me a 4S for my birthday but I have to pay for the plan.
    - I live in Alberta
    - I will use less than 500MB data
    - I have many friends in different provinces I will be texting
    - I never talk on the phone for more than 200 min a month
    - I'm currently with Koodo
    - I will be in Costa Rica for 4 months in the new year; I am probably gonna get a SIM card when I'm down there.
What's the best service provider, and what's the best plan for me?

    Thanks, Meg.
So would a Verizon device-only iPhone 5S still be the better choice if I plan to use GSM in the US (and not the CDMA part of the Verizon iPhone which would lock me to their service).
Ideally, if I had the device in my hand, I would like to use TMobile's prepaid plan (40$ for unlimited talk, text, and 500 mb of data). Upon getting the phone, couldn't I just discard the included verizon simcard (without my activation) and just pop in the TMobile SIM card since the Verizon device-only instrument comes with the GSM unlocked? ( In other words, I don't have to ask Verizon to unlock the GSM part of the iPhone 5S )
Also, if this is what my goal is (to use a prepaid Tmobile sim), I could just buy an unlocked sim-free iPhone 5S from Apple, right? I dont have to ask for a Verizon device-only iPhone 5S if I want nothing to do with Verizon or use their CDMA service? I'm guessing a device-only iPhone 5s (regardless of carrier label) is the same as unlocked sim-free iphone 5S?

  • What is Material Requirement Planning

what is Material Requirement Planning since i am a beginner in Supply chain management

Material Requiremnts plan and master schedule (MRP) answers two quisitions:
    1. How mauch you need to supply (Make/Buy).
    2. How much resource Hours needed to produce.
MRP is an unconstrained, and infinite planning engine. this means, if you have a demand (Sales order/Forecast), the planning engine recommend actions to be done based on demand due date only regardless of capacity or material availability, and it gives you exception messages to take action; as a planner; regarding anything that may violate satisfying the demand in that due dates.

  • What's best work plan to get InD flyer small for email?

I have a two page (one page double sided) brochure that has images and a solid pale color background.  When I save it as pdf it's 7.4 MB.  When I save as optimized pdf it's 5.4 MB.  I feel like I oughta know other options but -- What's the best plan?  I tried, in Acrobat, save as HTML but that's really not what I want.
I want to attach the brochure to an email so any low tolerance user can just double click it and it will open as pdf.  I'd rather not make them go through steps like un zip etc. If it were one or two MB that would be fine.
    Thanks!

CS3 ID and I'm just accepting the default settings in Acrobat for PDF
    optimizer.  Downsampling to 150 pixels.
My Audit Space Usage table tells me 86.9% is used by 'Piece
    Information'  --  what's that?
the rest of the scores are minimal, images 6.64% and Document Overhead
5.28% -- these are the other two larger amounts.
    I 'preciate your response!

  • VMI - what is the right planning book?

    Hi Gurus,
We are implementing VMI, My question is what is the right Planning area/Planning book.
I understand there is standard Planning area/book 9AVMI03  and 9AVMI(1) exists specifially for VMI.  What are advantages using 9AVMI03 instead of standard 9ASNP02 ?  If I am creating a new planning area should I copy VMI or Standard Planning area.
    Please share your experiance.
    Thanks,
    Niranjan

    Hi Niranjan,
Your point and question is very valid.   But if you see, VMI is subset under SNP.  So, 9ASNP02 is the master planning area which contains all key figures relevant to SNP which is inclusive of VMI key figures.
If you use planning area for VMI, all relevant key figures for VMI will be designed under this which will avoid complexities at later stage.
But there is no harm in using 9ASNP02 as well.
Hope your query is clarified.  Please confirm

What is least expensive plan for smartphone and wifi hotspot?  I would probably want 1 -2GB or so of use for the hotspot, to allow access for my laptop when needed.  I don't need a lot of minutes, really my usage is 100 - 200 mins/month,  no or very little text, and some date use from phone, maybe 1 GB?
    Thanks for any ideas!

  • What are the payment plans Apple has for international buyers

what are the payment plans Apple has for international buyers

There are none.  If you want to buy an iPhone, then you'll need to go and buy one from an Apple store in your country or one of the phone carriers in your country that offer iPhones.  If you live in a country that does not have an Apple store, then go to an Apple re-seller.  You may be able to purchase online if there is an Apple store online for your country.
    These are your alternatives.

  • What is the best plan for an unlocked iPhone in the US?

I'm sorry if this has been asked before. I am thinking of buying a no-contract unlocked iPhone from Apple.
I currently have a no-contract iPhone 4s on Virgin Mobile (USA). My plan is 30$ for 300 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data. Since VirginMobile is CDMA, I'm guessing they don't unlock their iPhones or let other SIM cards work on the iPhones issued through them (this is assuming the 4s has the GSM capability).
I want a no-contract unlocked iPhone just so I will have the flexiblity of using it overseas since I'm usually making a trip once a year.
    My questions are:
If I buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple (thinking of getting a 5S, 32 GB in white and silver), are there any plans that I can use that are as cheap as VirginMobile's?
I have heard that Verizon iPhones come unlocked (although they have to be activated through Verizon, but a T-Mobile sim can be used and so on). Is this true? Are AT&T iPhones the same?
Will I be able to keep my current cellphone number from Virgin if I switch to a no-contract iPhone and start using a SIM card?
    Thanks!

    Thanks, Meg.

  • What's apple's plan for preordered iphone 4 customers w.o confimation email

Many people have pre-ordered the iPhone 4 using the Apple website and reached the end to the confirmation page saying what to bring and that we'll receive a confirmation email soon, but hours and days later, handfuls of us have yet to receive the confirmation email. Does that mean that we don't get our pre-ordered iPhones, or will apple come up with a plan that will make the iPhone 4 available to us too? It would not be fair for those of us who thought we have successfully pre-ordered the iPhone 4 and end up not being able to get one on launch day.

I'm not just speaking for myself, but other people on some of these forums have checked everywhere they can and their pre-orders did not go through. I'm wondering what they would do for them. I have not checked myself and will do so tomorrow morning. If I'm one of the unlucky ones to not have their pre-orders go through, I'll be extremely disappointed along with the rest of those people, so I'm just wondering what they will do. If any one knows, I'm sure everyone with the same problem would like to hear about it.

  • My Wish List - Please, comment what are in your plans.

Guys, I really liked M7... But, some essentials features are missing...
The first item is really essential to me. There my list comes:
    * Multiple Web Directory. For instance, thing on this project layout:
    PATH: src/test/java
    WHAT: Java test code
    OUTPUT: target/test-classes
    PATH: src/main/java
    WHAT: Valuable Java code
    OUTPUT: target/site.war/WEB-INF/classes
    PATH: target/generated-source/java
WHAT: Generated java code. Actually I use for xwork and webworks generated
    files by xdoclet.
    OUTPUT: target/site.war/WEB-INF/classes
    PATH: src/main/web
    WHAT: Valuable Web files
OUTPUT: Its should be /target/site.war but its not possible now.
    PATH: target/generated-source
WHAT: Generated web files, I have a lot of them. From web.xml to images and
    javascript. web.xml,
jboss-web.xml and struts xmls files (when I use Struts) generated by
    xdoclet. Images and javascripts
are just unzipped from special libraries jar by maven.
OUTPUT: Its should be target/site.war but its now possible now.
When it will be possible, WOW! It will be perfect. Its like IDEA does.
    * ${variable.property} insigth... Like when I type ${ plus control+tab a
list of variables and so a list of fields.
    * <%-- <nitrox:el-value name="" value=""/> --%> to show printed values on
    design time. Like:
    <%-- <nitrox:el-value name="custome.name" value="Someone Something Someway
    Anything"/> --%>
    <%-- <nitrox:el-value name="customer.age + 20" type="56"/> --%>
Hi, ${customer.name}, Do you know if I get your age and add 20 its
    ${customer.age + 20}
And so, you could show sample values pritend on design time.
    * Velocity Support
    * Freemaker Support
    * Jelly Support
    * OGNL support. (http://www.ognl.org/) Every new cool frameworks uses this.
Its will be a killer feature.
    * Webworks support. (Okay, its just a dream)

    Just for your curious.
The wish number 1 (multiple directory) prevents me for buy NitroX to the
factory. We re planning to acquire a JSP editor but we cant change our
layout now and I believe that all files in the same directory is not a good
pratice. (Even the libaries jars go on what should be source diretory).
Take a look on Maven praticies. They are good.
The other ones are just sugestion and I would buy with or without.
By the way, I just tried to send some feedback. I really liked NitroX, its
fast, stable... Just the project layout is not so good... So I tried to send
some feedback to help you. I tried a lot o tools and I didnt send any
feedback because I didn't like them.
    Thanks

  • What's the execution plan tell me?

    Hey everyone,
I'm just looking at this execution plan and want to understand what it exactly tells me.. I could make a little sense of it. I would like someone to explain it to me please.
    Here it is:
Predicate Information (identified by operation id):
    4 - access("A"."ATHLETEID"="ATHLETEID")
    5 - filter("CCODE"='AUS')
    Note
    - dynamic sampling used for this statement (level=2)
    Statistics
    32 recursive calls
    0 db block gets
    26289 consistent gets
    0 physical reads
    5664 redo size
23496 bytes sent via SQL*Net to client
936 bytes received via SQL*Net from client
    49 SQL*Net roundtrips to/from client
    2 sorts (memory)
    0 sorts (disk)
717 rows processed ---> it has selected 717 tuples.
I know the last one but not the rest. Looking forward to a detailed answer on this.

    Hi Folks,
What is the purpose and usage of control plans in cProjects? Is this useful in an environment where QM is not implemented? Appreciate if somebody could provide an example of how this functionality will be useful from a project management standpoint. I am on cProjects 4.5.

    Hi,
the control plan functionality in cProjects is deprecated, see SAP Note 1114207:
Using the control plans is not recommended because with new
