What is a build?

Hello Folks,
One of my collageaue keep talking about "Build". What is that/ We are in the process of converting data from a company we are taking over.
Thanks,
Jess..

  • How can I tell what the iTunes build is before I download?

I am having difficulty finding out what the iTunes build is for the current download from the Apple site. I am running iTunes 7.6 (29); I assume the "29" is the build for my installed version. I also assume that Software Update will ignore build changes unless the version changes.
I do not want to download and install the current iTunes build unless it is different from my currently installled app. How can you tell what the specific version and build are from the Apple download site?
    Thanks!

I am running iTunes on Leopard.

  • What PC to build? An update...

What PC to build, updated January 2012
A question often asked is what system to build for NLE.
The previous article about this topic dates back to March 2010, so it was due an update because there were so many new developments in the past two years, including CS5.5
Basically you can think along three roads, a budget PC, an economical PC and the warrior PC. Notice that MAC is not mentioned here. There are three reasons for that, one is I'm not qualified to really advise on MAC's, two is that they are way overpriced and three they are severely limited in component choices. So this is all about PC.
Whether you want to have a budget, economical or warrior PC, there are a number of common components that you will always need, a case, a PSU, CPU cooler, monitor, keyboard, mouse, DVD/BR burner and stuff like that so I'm not going into those components, with the exception of case, PSU and CPU cooler.
    CASE:
While the case of your choice is often determined by looks and what appeals to you (or your CFO, the wife), I want to stress that for all categories, budget, economical or warrior, it is better to use a BIG tower, instead of a mid tower.
Why, you may wonder. Actually there are a lot of reasons. Mid towers can limit your choices in CPU coolers, because the case is not wide enough to install certain CPU coolers. The height of the cooler does not fit in the case. They can limit your choice of video card, because these have grown in length significantly and mid towers often do not allow the installation of certain video cards due to the limited depth or prevent you from installing hard disks in certain slots. Mid towers will limit your expansion capabilities (less drive cages), make installation of components more difficult, have limited cable management features, have limited airflow and tend to become hotter than big towers and thus more noisy (the fans need to run at higher speed) and limit overclockabilty.
A BIG tower is the (only) way to go.
    PSU:
The PSU is one of the most crucial components in any system but also the one component most often overlooked. A good PSU will give you years of reliable work on your PC, a suboptimal or mediocre PSU will give you tremendous headaches and unexplainable crashes, hangs or errors, causing you to miss deadlines.
Go to eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Pro v2.5 and get the Pro version. Enter all your components, including planned expansions, set the Motherboard to High End - Desktop, set the CPU Utilization (TDP) to 100%, set System Load to 100% and Capacitor Aging to 30% and press the Calculate button. Add 10 - 15% to this Wattage for safety and note the required amperage on the various rails (+3.3V, +5V and +12V). Based on these figures, select a good GOLD label PSU, that meets the total wattage and the amperage on each rail. It is your best guarantee for long and reliable, troublefree editing.
    Budget, economical or warrior system
Before going into these three systems, you can consider them to be a rough 'Best-buying Guide', let me remind you of the basic practical system requirements for CS5.5 and consider your own workflow to interpret these charts.
    It starts with the codec:
Since DSLR is getting so popular, let me remind you that this is ranked under the 'Difficult' codecs and P2 is an 'Easy' codec. The more difficult the codec you use, the higher the system requirements. See:
For the full article, see Adobe Forums: System requirements for CS5
As a rough translation from 'Easy', 'Intermediate' and 'Difficult' to the kind of system you want to build, you could say that 'Easy' can be handled quite well with a 'Budget' system, 'Intermediate' is best handled by an 'Economical' or better system and 'Difficult' requires an 'Economical' or better system. A 'Budget' system may struggle with the load of such 'Difficult' codecs.
Note that in the following table, I have mentioned components in each category. These are just examples of what could fit in each category, they are not necessarily a combination of components that I would build per se.
Also note that I have not chosen the fastest CPU in each category, but only unlocked CPU's. Each can be overclocked for optimal results and then will deliver a better Bang-For-The-Buck (BFTB) than the highest clocked CPU in that range. Finally, note that the budget system can benefit from increasing memory to 4 x 4 GB for only € 38 extra. That is the weakest link in the budget system.
Prices mentioned are current day prices in the Netherlands (01-11-2012) including 19% VAT.
    Here are my suggestions:
The main difference in comparison to the previous guide, is that the i7-3930K appears to be faster and better affordable than a dual Xeon X5680 system.
Anyway, I hope this helps people comtemplating a new system to get the right components in an affordable system.

  • What is the BUILD NUMBER at the Following link?

Can anyone tell me what is the build number at this link? is it the latest 9879?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso
does anyone know why is it so hard for microsoft to add the build number at the page?
Do we need to download the 4GB ISO and install it in order to find the build number?
does it cost Microsoft more money to ad 4 NUMBER (IE build number?)
    #Idiots!

    Hi אני,
The ISO available for download is Windows 10 9841 version.
Versions for 9860 and 9879 is only available through Windows update. As this is documented in the blog posted by MakeMelaugh, here is the QUOTED information:
    For Windows 10 9860:
The latest build will come to you automatically via the magic of Windows Update. For most of you this means in the middle of the night (as long as your PC is plugged in and either on or sleeping)
it will be downloaded and installed for you. Note that Windows Update will not automatically download the new build over metered networks.
    For Windows 10 9879:
Just like last time, this new build will come to you automatically via Windows Update, installed during your maintenance window if your PC is plugged in and on or sleeping. If you’re currently in the Fast ring, the build is available
now. If you’re in the Slow ring, you won’t receive the build right away – we’ll publish to Slow after we see how everything goes with the Fast ring. This is a full build, and it will be installed as an in-place upgrade, so you’ll go through those colorful
“installing your apps” screens again. This is because your account is being re-provisioned after the upgrade.
For how to make the Windows 10 9879 ISO available, there seems to be no official way to support it.
    Thank you for your understanding.
And if you have any further suggestions, we may consider take use of Windows feedback tool.
    Edited:
For a clean install, Micrsoft has the latest ISO available from TechNet Evaluation Center.
More information, please check the How do I get the latest build of Windows 10 Technical Preview for Enterprise? part in the following FAQ:

  • What is the build version for Sharepoint 2013 Server including trial version there is one?

    Hello Community
When using WS2012 and Sharepoint 2013 Server, what
build version for a Sharepoint 2013 Server farm should
be applied and where do you get the cumulative update
for it (trial version also if there is one)?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know which SharePoint build version should be applied to Windows Server 2012 and where to get cumulative update.
If you want to use SharePoint in Windows Server 2012, you can use the RTM version 15.0.4420.1017.
For CU update and build version, I suggest you can refer the detailed article below:

  • What is better: Builder 2 oder Plug In

    Hi guys!
As i couldn't find much about that, here is my question.
Maybe it is interesting enough for some experts to have smal
    discussion.
What is better to use: builder or th plug-in.?
I don''t really need the to have a design view, so pure code
would be enough for me. And what I hate about the builder is the
performance when compiling large projects. Is this better if you
use Eclipse (which version) together with the plugin. Can you have
both installed and use the same project workplace to "share" the
projects, depending on what you want to do?
What gives me the best performance for writing, compiling,
    debugging?

  • What is forms builder version for R12  ? prob. for 6i forms  ?

    hi..guys..
Currently we have oracle apps..11.5.10-----> forms version 6i
Now, we are upgrading apps to R12...so all the custom forms which are in 6i needs to be migrated to forms 10g so they can be compatible with oracle EBS release 12.
So, I am opening forms which were created using 6i in form builder 10g. Then getting connected with the database created for R12...so it takes R12 library references...so at this time forms builder 10g is crashing......
I am using FORMS 32 BIT VERSION 9.0.4.0.19 (PRODUCTION)..Oracle Developer Suite 10g...to modify and compile 6i forms...so I can put them on R12 instance...
Problem is everytime I try to compile 6i form after opening it in 10g forms builder, it crashes ....so what is the best way to compile 6i forms to make them compatible with R12 ....?
    thanks...

Does this happen to all forms or certain ones only?
You need to open the forms in Form Builder 10g (Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2)), compile it, save it then upload it back to the server.

  • What is the build method to be used in this scenario

    A
    B --- C ---d ----e ---f ---g
    X ---Y---Z
here A is parent and B,X are childs of A, and C,D,e,f,g, are childs of B, and Y,Z are childs of X then what the build method we must take, when and how do we choose the build methods, is it depending on the hierarchy or what

Per Glenn's post, you could use a generation load rule against the records for B and X, skipping the first record altogether to come up with the descendants of those two members.
But that wouldn't get you the relationship of B and X as children of A.
That's why I wrote you have a mix of dimension build types in your file, or maybe more accurately, an incomplete build file.
A generation build would look something like:
    A, B, C
    A, B, d
    A, B, e
    A, B, f
    A, B, g
    A, X, y
    A, X, z
A parent/child build would look like:
    A, B
    B, C
    B, d
    B, e
    B, F
    B, g
    A, X
    X, y
    X, z
Neither approach matches what you have. Again, I see the parent/child layout most often but maybe that's just me.
You could play games like first applying a parent/child build rule against your existing layout (with a little tweaking), and then maybe multiple build rules against the file/table for the generation appproach but that seems awfully complicated. Why not just get the source format into a decent format.

  • What you can build in one year with Strobe Media Player (SMP)

Hi, thanks to all the hard working folk at Adobe who've been kind enough to let people like myself build commercial applications using SMP.  I just wanted to share a link to my new facebook application that I've been building for the past year using SMP.  I could not have been able to do it without SMP as I needed a free, high end, flexible API video player to do it with.
Again thankyou, and I'll be sure to provide a link to SMP on my site.
Here's the link to my facebook application using SMP:

Please note:  It's a facebook application so it will ask you for some basic permissions just click yes :-)

I would say though the there should only be one try-catch block per thrower because theoretically each exception thrown has a different meaning for what your program should do in response.

  • What Lion version & Build # is in the App store now?

I originally downloaded Lion to upgrade my 2010 MBA. I have both a 2010 and a 2011 MBA.
When I previously have tried to (re)download the installer to my 2011 MBA, I kept getting the error message that "this version of Lion can not be installed on your computer" (paraphrasing). This was perfectly understandable, since 10.7.0 Build 11A511 is indeed incompatible with the 2011 MBA.
I have been periodically retrying, in the hopes that Apple would eventually upgrade the App Store version to be usable on my 2011 MBA (so I could make my own COMPLETE re-install drive).
Today, I tried again to download the App Store version of Lion on my 2011 MBA. Success!
This leads me to beleive that the new download is updated. If so, is there anyone who knows the version and build number this is?

10.7.2 build 11C74  was the first GM build to include support for the new MBair and Mac Mini.
This is what is in the app store now.
