I have been waiting since months for the new IPad4G 64 Gbt. ON recommendation of Apple Support I have changed my IPad 4G last week in the hope that something was wrong with the firts one I bought.
The one I have now has the same problems. WiFi is working however 4G not at all. Apple what can I do? What are you doing for the thausands of German Apple fans who have bought a IPad4G and can not use it. We need a solution NOW. I´m working with this tool and need to be able to rely on it.

You said you 'read what the procedures do' but the doc explains pretty clearly (IMHO) exactly how it creates the chunks.

So I am at a loss to know how that particular example is of any value to you.
That package creates a list of START_ID and END_ID values, one pair of values for each 'chunk'. It then starts a parallel process for each chunk that queries the table using a where clause that is basically just this:
WHERE userColumn BETWEEN :START_ID AND END_ID

You could just as easily write those queries yourself for chunking by number. But you couldn't execute them in parallel unless you created a scheduler job.
So like the doc says Oracle is just:
1. getting the MIN/MAX of the column
2. creating a process for each entry in the 'chunk table'
3. executing those processes in parallel
4. commiting each process individually
5. maintain status for you.
I'm not sure what you would expect to see on the backend for an example like that. -
How do I eliminate this glitch? Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time. I tried double-clicking the Home button which brings up all of the active apps, touched and held the Music icon until all the icons started wiggling, tapped the Close icon in the upper left corner of the Music app to close the app completely, but the app is still open and still randomly stuttering. I did notice that the play button icon flashes in the upper right corner of the screen when this happens and it appears and disappears in concurrence with the Music app stuttering. When the music starts, the icon appears and when it stops, the icon disappears again. When the music stutters on and off, the icon appears and disappears rapidly and in sync with that random glitch. This just started today for no apparent reason. I turned the iPad off, waited 30 seconds and turned it back on. As soon as it was finished starting up, the same music glitch began again immediately. I'm using iOS 6.1.3.
Well, no one seems to have any answers or ideas for me, I'll update what I've been able to accomplish.
I reloaded all 14 disks in the time frame of watching Lord of the Rings on Fri. nite.
Funny thing is, the first disk pulled the info from the online store! Hooray!
Wait-then all the next 13 could find no information online...what the heck is up with that? So I MANUALLY assign each disk a new track # to co-inside with each disk, spent about 2 hours doing that.
But still, itunes tells me my playlist is too large, there's not enough space on the ipod. so I unchecked 1 1/2 disks (I'd listen to 1/2 of disk 1 previously) and voila! there's my ipod full of my book. Finally. But what a lot of bother just to keep things in order! -
I gave my brother my old iPad. I reset it so it's like a new iPad. But, it is still in my iCloud tabs, not what he is doing, but the last thing i had open in Safari. When I went to iCloud.com and did the find my iPhone thing, it was still listed. But it couldn't find it. It's rather annoying to have it there all the time. How do I make it go away. I can't see a way to tell iCloud that that device is no longer mine.

OK, I'm perplexed. I've been a mac user for almost 30 years. My entire ecosystem is Mac and I remained with mac through the dark 90s. What apple has does in the past 2 years is unbelieveable. I just upgraded to 10.86, then 10.9, no end of problems.
I can no longer mirror and of my monitors VGA or HDMI, my itunes which supplies iphone and ipad has disabled podcast app so that I can't listen to my favorite programs and I find out after the fact that Office software is not compatible with OSX 8.6.
Forget about the fact that itunes looks like it was developed by a 1980s MS-DOS programmer. Its kludgy, limited and generally does not work.
What does one do? Frankly, I used to use macs because they were like info appliances that just worked. Now the time to manage tech glitches from the company has become way too costly. Sadly, Apple has become Microsoft and Microsoft seems to become Apple."... as do the users who are downloading recent OSXs in record numbers."

I just downloaded FF4 and now the "SEARCH" tab located at the center of my home page isn't functional. I uninstalled and reinstalled but the result is the same.I think what I did was right clicked on the toolbar when I went to the tab and properties to find out the name of it. I then opened the extensions and add-ons and found what it was there (I don't remember the extension)., You will find the mess involves the homepage tab you have. Click on your tool bar for customization and put the home page away. This doesn't remove it but it will stop bing from showing up. Instead, my tabs now go to a Google page but I can't put in a homepage. Instead I bookmarked Google to my menu bar and when I open a tab I just click that! Cheaper than a trip to a computer vet.
The only option you will have is to remove google, but if you do, you loose all your goodies. Though I did not try this myself, I fear saving your tabs,bookmarks , etc. will store with it, whatever this bing thing is. Hope this helps -
Printer goes dead and reboots in the middle of some PDF pages
My Photosmart Plus B209a printer goes dead in the middle of some PDF pages. If I avoid printing those, the rest might print fine. It seems like the printer has problem with interpretation of some part of the print. I doubt it is problem with the communication,since reprinting the failed page 10 times, makes the printer go down exactly the same place on the page.
Any ideas?Call the Apple Store that repaired it. You need to advise them that you are having "issues."

What is Apple doing about the "Unable to download" problems?
So, forgive me if these questions have been asked before. But I am new to Apple, just bought an iPhone about 2 months ago. I love my iPhone, but once you start getting into the world of the App store is where the problems seem to start flooding in. Specifically with the downloading and updating portion. Downloading is sometimes a breeze and sometimes a pain as is updating. Some days I have no problems downloading or updating apps. Other days I get error messages such as "unable to download" with an option of "done" or "retry."
The "done" option is worthless because if you select it, the app is still unselectable and will stay that way for days and the only way around it is to delete the app and reinstall if you can even reinstall it without having problems.
The "retry" option is also worthless because as soon as you select that option, not even a second later will the message "unable to download" pop up again.
Some days I get the error message that says something along the lines of unable to download without a wifi connection. That confuses me because there are plenty of times when I have downloaded apps without a wifi connection. So why is it that sometimes I need a wifi connection and other times I dont need it. Second, I am connected to a wifi connection right now and my app still wont update.
I dont know about you, but I sure as **** dont like seeing that red number 1 on my app store every day, but with the problems of updating apps sometimes im forced to just stare at it every time I unlock my phone.
So what is Apple doing about these problems?? Because I've seen alot of threads on this discussion board but they all seem to have the same answers, "turn off the phone then turn it back on" "download over a wifi connection" "delete the app and re install"Have you called Apple tech support or visited an Apple Store to ask for assistance with the problem? If not, then you really haven't even given Apple the opportunity to assist you with this problem. This is not happening to every iPod touch by any means, so it's most likely an issue with your particular unit. Try the usual steps: restart, reset, restore.

I'm burning dvd's that won't play on a regular dvd player. What am I doing wrong? They play fine on computers but not on dvd players. Are there some simple things to check to figure this out? (Sorry, I know this has been asked many times). Created in DVD studio pro.

• BRAND of DVD used - Matters when doing Video-DVDs
Memorex, NoName etc cheap brands usually do NOT work
I only Use Verbatim (more organic dye in these)
• Type of DVD - matters
- DVD+/RW - usually results in problems
- DL-DVDs are more problematic than SL-DVDs
- DVD+R are a more modern sort - BUT PLAYS BADLY or not at all on older DVD-players
I only use DVD-R
• BURN SPEED - matters
- Best in iDVD app - IS NOT BEST at all but results in lot's of Burn Errors = Doesn't play well or at all
I set this down to x2 or x4 max.

How do I get rid of those annoying white-on-black "?" marks that pepper the text on some web pages
They don't appear in IE. "?" characters are on diamond shaped black background and overwrite characters underneath making it difficult to read the text.
A diamond indicates a problem with the font or the content of a web page. You get a diamond if the page uses an 8 bit encoding and the character can't be mapped. A possible cause is that the text was copied from another (Unicode) source and pasted on that website. IE probably shows a white box or nothing in such a case. It is also possible that the page is send with the wrong encoding by the server.

I need a teacher. I have a mac book 13 white. I have all kinds of files/stuff that I have been downloading. I dont know how to update a app, or how to tell what I have as far as memory/software/ version(of what?) I know that I can not sync my 3gs 32g iphone. I know that most all my applications will not work on this version of ??? . I spend hours just trying to get on line,most the time I give up. I've had this thing for years ,I click chx for updates , most everytime it says "no internet".....I do know for how bad I feel inside, all the hours that I have spent on this thing with no closure that I would rather smash it into tiny pieces then sell it. I do not have money anymore..I am very smart at all sorts of differant things in life .I am not smart at understanding to basic function or opperations of computers , I am missing something, I am close ,but just can not wrap my mind around it.

It's always good to go with one thing at a time and stay focused on that. Let's start with the OS you're running. Click on the Apple menu > About This Mac. What does it say under Mac OS X version ? -
Research results on what TM is doing at the moment.
While sitting and listening to my external drive going crazy for hours at a time I decided to research a bit what is actually taking place here. This post is what I"m seeing and I'm wondering if anyone else is having similar results.
1) It is suppose to be using Hard links to link files up that have not changed in order to save on disk space. For those interested here is the way it works ( at least according to my research ).
You create a file that has 10 bytes in it. You want another copy of that file but want both linked to the same place on disk so you issue a hard link. When doing an "ls -l" you will see two separate files and will see disk space for both. However, if you issue a "du" on that same folder you will see that they are not in fact both taking up space. Only the first file is doing so.
After testing you will see this in fact works perfectly and despite it looking like two separate files, any changes made to one effects the other.
2) Its really difficult to see what is going on, because unlike symbolic links, hard links give no indication that you're actually dealing with them at all. For example: If you do an ls -al, the files (other than having the same size) have no real ID to tell you which is the hard link and which is the actual file on the disk. To make it worse you can even remove the original file that everything is hard linked to, and the system will continue to show the other links as if they were each the original.
So lets say you have 50 files, all linked to an original, and you delete the original. All 50 files are still only taking up 1 files worth of disk space, even though the original linked file is gone. This is because each file is linked to the place on disk not the original file name itself.
3) To further confuse the issue, if you place hard links into a completely separate sub folder like TM does, doing a du IN that other folder will look the same as doing it in the original folder. What this means is that despite the system linking these files and not really taking up the hard drive space you think they are, there is no clean way to figure out what is really going on.
Even du is confused at this point.
4) Now, lets backup a folder and see what happens:
If we had two folders temp1 and temp2 and temp1 had a single file in it and 3 linked files. temp2 then had 3 linked files that were linked back to temp1's original file. Doing du in each folder as well as ls -l would show the same basic thing. However, backing up a folder and doing a du -s temp* would show an entirely different story. The first folder where the original file is created would display the size of that file only, however, the temp2 folder would show 0 bytes. So despite the fact that originally it showed the full amount of 1 file, it now shows nothing.
5) So what does TM do? Well, its a bit confusing. On one hand I'd say its using hard links and its doing its job, however, on the other hand I have to say this is not always the case. As an example, on my system the original backup of my Computer shows 108GB of data backed up. Taking a look for one of the backups from the next day it shows: 88GB being backed up and the last backup run today backed up 84GB.
Now I don't know about you, but its not possible for me have changed 88GB of data in 1 day. Its also worth mentioning that I've removed Parallels and Aperture from my backups and neither show in my directories, so I'm a bit confused as to what is going on here. Its like the system is backing up the entire system on each backup. But not...
Another confusing thing is that on my local hard drive du -s doesn't show the extra data in its lists, but on the external the sizes of the different folders are close to the same. The reason this is confusing is for 3 backups I've listed I got 108GB, 84GB and 88GB and I don't know about you but thats a lot more than a 250GB drive can hold. And I've still got 94GB available.
So while TM appears to be working properly, the OS is not doing a very good job of helping us understand what we're looking at. My tests on my local HD with du and du -sh have all yielded results that make sense. But on the external drive being controlled by TM, nothing makes sense. I'm being told things are there that are not and there is no apparent way to tell for sure.
So while I haven't answered anything at all, maybe this information can help some of you make sense of what you're seeing. Please respond if you have any information to add.
glennThe -links primary of the find command relates to "links" as opposed to "symbolic links". "links" in unix documentation typically mean what today are often referred to as "hard links" to distinguish them from "soft/symbolic links" which later became commonly implemented.
A file (or bunch of data) with one name has 1 link (file name). A file with with multiple names has multiple links.
We commonly talk about files with no links but typically every file we can talk about has at least one link.
For example:
$ touch x y z
$ ln x a
$ ln -s y b
$ ls -li
total 8
5124288 -rw-r--r-- 2 ber staff 0 Nov 3 02:08 a
5124294 lrwxr-xr-x 1 ber staff 1 Nov 3 02:09 b -> y

Note the first number in the listing is the "inode" - effectively the internal location of the data making up the file.
The second number (between the permissions and the owner) is the number of links.

What an Activity does depends on how you categorize it in the IMG. For example 0010 Check Suitability is a Simple Activity. Heres a brief explanation of how some of the Activity Categories work.
Simple Activity
This is like a simple checklist. There is no system functionality behind it. Once the activity is done you mark it as complete.
Qualifying Event
These are similar to Simple Activities. There is no functionality for these activities alone, but in completing these activities, like a Job Interview, you complete fields that can be used in an invitation to the event.
Simple Correspondence
A letter form (SmartForm) is assigned to activity types of this category. These activity types enable letters to be sent via the Internet, to be printed by an R/3 system, or to be edited locally at the front end.
Invitation
A letter form (SmartForm) is also assigned to activity types of this category. In addition, the activity types always refer to a qualifying event that is open for invitation. It uses information in the Qualifying Event (time & location) to complete the invitation. The documents can be processed in the same way as simple correspondence.
Status Change
Activity types of this category change the status of the associated object. You can define the new status per activity type and per object type. Status changes also initiate Workflow
Questionnaire
Questionnaire can be assigned to activity types in this category. These activity types enable questionnaires to be sent to candidates using the Internet or to be included in the application wizard through a Process Template.
