What is a good brand of hard shell cases?

I just bought my Macbook Pro 13 in. without the retina display, and i've been looking to get a hard shell case for it. From what I've seen on Amazon, the Speck cases scratch easily. I was also looking at mCovers, which had mixed reviewed, and Kuzy. I would prefer a clear case, but the color doesnt really matter. I just wanted to know what brand or website will provide good hard cases that will fit my macbook (and not scratch it when taking off the case), and remain durable.

Here's something I purchased from Amazon just last week! It's by GMYLE and a clear protective keyboard cover comes with it. (You can still type very easily with the keyboard cover on. Great for keeping dog hair and general crud out of the works.)
The case fits my MacBook Pro perfectly. It even has little rubber feet on the bottom!

  • What is a good solid state hard drive for a Macbook Pro (2007 model)?

What is a good solid state hard drive for a Macbook Pro (2007 model)? I imagine they're still expensive, but I'm curious which would be good picks if I were to go for it.

I am using the Corsair P256 (256 GB) SSD. It is actually a Samsung drive. It works well, but will only give you part of the speed advantage due to the fact that the MBP from 2007 only has a 1.5 GB/s interface, while newer MBPs have a 3.0 GB/s interface.
Impact on battery run time seems to only be an increase of 15-20%.
Boot time on my MBP is 40 seconds to login prompt. System seems very responsive.

  • Has anyone heard of a good hard shell case for Ink and Slide?

As much as I appreciate the charging case for Ink, I need a hard shell case for the the cord, Slide, Ink and the charging case.
I found a Nintendo case at Target yesterday so that I feel comfortable taking my tablet and I&S out for field trips, but it is rather inelegant.
What are other I&S users using?
    Thanks,

Yes, I am looking for a shell case that holds the Scribbles' charger cord and case, plus "Straight," the Slide.   Something that protects all components and is portable.ind
I will post what I find aside from: Nintendo 3DS XL Hard Shell Case - Kozmicc

  • How about a hard-shell case for the Zen Mic

I recently bought my Zen Micro and the one accessory that I still need to pick up for it is a case. Now I know there is a pouch for it, but what I really want is a something more protecti've to put up with the rigors of travelling.
I see they have the leather case which covers the entire unit and looks to currently be the best bet to offer some overall protection of the unit. But what I can't seem to find (either through Creative or a third party) is a hard-shell case. I'd love to have a good, solid clamshell-type of case (either hard plastic, or even metal) like you can get for PDAs. I've got a metal case for my Palm and I'm sure its been that device's best friend in terms of protection from all of the bumps and bruises of travel.
So if anyone fm Creative is peeking in here - that's my big suggestion for you all.
An if anyone knows if such a case does exist, please feel free to post back.

Gee I never would have thought about using a search function to do a search ;>
Yeah I saw this a few days ago - thank you - but its not quite what I'm looking for. If I wasn't clear, I am looking for a hardshell case that completely closes up the unit. This one is cut open on the front for access to the buttons. I was looking for one similar to the leather case where the entire unit is fully enclosed, basically with the only opening being for the headphones.
I do like the earbuds offered on this website - the ones with the little lapel clip spool.

  • Best iPod Touch 4G Hard Shell Case?

So yeah, ive been wondering over for a good iPod touch 4g hard shell case.
Before that, what's the advantages/disadvantages of a hard shell over a silicon rubber material?
    Sorry that I'm asking much
Is the skull candy hard shell worth it? What's the price gonna be?
Ps. I prefer a slim one

If your looking for a case to protect, I would go with otterbox. If you want it to be slim and still durable, they have a reflex case, but if you dont mind having a little extra thickness I would go with the defender series, its a mix of hard plastic and silicone and has a built in screen procter. All in all otterbox is the best in my opinion.

  • Do Hard Shell cases protect your device?

Hi, i'm looking to purchase the new ipad soon and i'm prioritising safety for the device (i.e. cases) I know silicone cases work well but there doesn't seem to be many of them that are compatible with the smart cover. On the other hand there are many hard shell cases but they do not look convincing. I was wondering, do these hard shell actually protect the device from impact or do they just prevent scratches?

    Here is a drop test.
Smart Case (I have a 3rd party one) does its job - it protects.
Yes, the Case CAN protect your iPad from cracks and scuffs. But it won't if you use way too much force.
Case is like smart cover, but with a back protector and a border to protect your iPad from falling down with screen side facing down

  • Are there any hard shell cases available for the new Retina Macbook Pro?

I am going to be buying a Retina MacBook Pro this August during the tax free holiday, and was wondering if anyone knew of any hard shell cases that have been made for it, and/or screen protectors. I really don't wan a $2200 computer to get scratched! Thanks

  • What to do if brand new hard drive is blocked by password?

    Hi, there
I'm writing from Venezuela and l'd like to get some help about the following problem.
My cousin have a Satellite M645-S4061 which was bought at Amazon long time ago.
The problem, its hard drive became faulty since a  couple of months.
I suggested him to buy a new 2.5" WD Blue hard drive or 2.5" Crucial m4 ssd.
My cousin traveled to USA three weeks ago and got back last week.
He bought a new toshiba hard drive at Best Buy.
    P/N: PH2050U-1I54

I changed the faulty drive, put in the new drive.
And now, when the laptop is switched on, right after bios post, it askes for password.
    "TOSHIBA MQ01ABD050
    Enter HDD/SSD Password."
Why a brand new drive ask for a password?
Maybe isn't brand new at all, right?
How can I solve this problem?
Any tip or advice will be helpfull.
    Thanks in advance.-

Hi! Did you try installing your OS on the new drive, or just replace the HD? If you have the recovery discs use them to install your OS. If you don't have them you can get them here
PS I have never heard of a brand new HD being blocked by a password.

  • Will a hard shell case make my MBA run warmer?

I have a 2013 13 MBA, I am contemplating buying a moshi iglaze case but I warm hesitant because I dock my computer to a cinema display when I'm at home and not at work so I am worried about the case making the machine run hotter. Does anyone have experience with this? Are my fears founded?

It would run hotter however the new Air runs much cooler as of 2013
Those cases also trap dust and debris and end up creating more scratches than they prevent

  • Recommend a hard-shell iPad 2 case without flap?

    Hi:
I’ve been looking for a good quality hard-shell case without a flap for the iPad 2.  Something that’s the equivalent of a Speck case for the iPhone.  All the cases I’ve found, so far, that are pretty durable have a flap for the screen.
    Something equivalent to this:
Haven’t found anything yet.  Any leads please would be appreciated!  Cheers.

Thanks Demo!  I checked out a few of the different types of OtterBox offerings.  I also found iLounge discussion forums which has a crazy amount of reviews on the topic of cases for the Ipad (and I mention it here in the event that another person searches a similar topic as mine).
I got a couple of ideas from this too:
    http://tommyj.hubpages.com/hub/Top-Ten-Best-iPad-Cases-Skins-and-Hard-Case-Revie w
What I’d really like though is something without a front covering -- sort of a modified Defender --  Mainly for use on younger kid’s ipads that may be dropped on occasion
That said, I had the Defender for my iPhone -- man was that a seriously rugged case.  Almost too much for what I wanted -- I ended up with the Speck CandyShell because it was lower-profile and easier to get in and out of my pocked.  Though the Defender is a favorite choice of people I know who really need rugged and are doing work on job sites or the like where dropping a phone is more likely to break it!

  • Brand new hard drive...what happens if I plug in my ipod?

    Hello,
I just got a brand new hard drive for my powerbook after it completely failed...all my data is gone and I was devasted...but that's life...That includes all my music in iTunes. But I have my iPod...What will happen if I plug in my iPod to sync up. Will it completely erase my iPod because there is nothing in my iTunes, or will it transfer all my music files onto iTunes...I was scared to plug it in last night in hopes that I may be able to salvage something from my data. Any help would be great!
    Thanks,
    LH

If your iPod is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
Senuti Mac Only (Currently only the beta version is iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPodRip Mac & Windows
    YamiPod Mac & Windows
    Music Rescue Mac & Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    Floola Mac & Windows
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
If you have any iTunes Music Store purchases the transfer of purchased content only from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay:
Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • I recently purchased a Mac Book Air and wanted to know what would be the best external hard drive to buy as far as the brand and GB or TB are concerned? I will basically just be storing music, papers, and a lot of pictures.

I recently purchased a Mac Book Air and wanted to know what would be the best external hard drive to buy as far as the brand and GB or TB are concerned? I will basically just be storing music, papers, and a lot of pictures. Also, how should I go about charging my computer? Should I wait until it is close to dying and then charge it?

I have had good success with HGST and Seagate HDDs.  I suggest a HDD that is powered by the MBA eliminating the need for an AC cord.  They now come up to 1.5 TB in capacity.  In my opinion, one cannot have too much storage.  If necessary, let your bank account be your guide.
    Ciao.
