What's a good non-Apple monitor for my 13" MacBook Pro? Looking around 20-23 inches, preferably LED.

I have a 13" MacBook Pro and I'm in the market for a non-Apple monitor (Apple monitors are way out of my price range). I'm looking for 20-23 inch monitor, preferably LED. I need it to edit articles for publication and for Bar Exam studying in the next year. What brands have shown to have good compatibility with Mac? Do I need an adapter of some sort?

You'll need an adapter cable, and which one you need depends on what version MBP you have and the inputs on the monitor.
I just recently purchased a Dell U2410 to use as a second display with my iMac. Overall I'm pretty happy with but my use is a little different, I wanted something with very good color accuracy for photo work. Based on what you said your needs are, you probably don't have to spend as much.
One thing I will say, is this particular monitor (and I believe all Dells) has an antiglare screen on it, which to be honest, took me a little getting used to. Because of the matte surface, text and documents aren't quite as sharp and can even look a little hazy at times. For your uses you may be better off with a glossy screen as long as glare isn't going to be too much an issue for you.
BenQ makes some pretty nice and affordable monitors these days LED backlit or otherwise, and on that note, theres absolutely nothing at all wrong with non "LED" monitors, both technologies are still using an LCD panel for the display, they just deal with the backlighting differently.
As the other poster mentioned, NEC is always a good option as well. Less common on the consumer side, but they make very good professional products.

I ended up getting a cheap $18.00 headset and plugging it into my iMic. I forgot I even had that thing. It works very well with skype. Just have to set the sound preferences to use the iMic for in and out.

My suggestion is you do have a look on the websites accesories section and find something that suits you, from what you are saying you need a stylish yet strong case. So any good plastic based one will do, you can choose the style and color then. Or you can actually visit the store and have a feel. I have several, when im at work i keep the stylish yet strong ones, but when i am in the field or sports i have a pretty strong one, a little chunky too.

What are some good alternatives for iPhone insurance?

As we all know, neither Apple nor at&t offer insurance on the iPhone. So I was looking to see what other options exist for insuring the device? I was looking at www.safeware.com but there's no indication of iPhone insurance. Any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks, but unfortunately, AppleCare does not cover water damage, loss or theft. I'm concerned about "beyond warranty" issues, like the before mentioned. I don't really own a home (yet), so homeonwner's insurance is out. I received an e-mail from safeware that they were currently reviewing the iPhone with their underwriting staff to determine future coverage.
Again, if anyone else knows about iPhone insurance coverage, please let me know!

What's a good method to create a primarykey ( not using autoincrement )

I 'd like to know if somebody knows a good and simple method to generate a unique primarykey.
I don't want to use the autoincrement feature of DBMS and avoid using GUID ( it's a too long value).
Any suggestion ?

I am curious about this GUID thing your all talking about. It's simply a unique identifier. It's guaranteed that every GUID generated will be unique.
I did a google search on this and am faced with a wall of results that have little to do with what I imagine this is. Is GUID some sort of auto generated (app side) number that can be inserted into the database that is unique? And yes, the GUID is by far the best solution we have at the moment.

HT1689 what is the "other" on my iPhone in the content use bar along the bottom of the screen when I sync my iPhone with iTunes on my computer

When I sync my iphone and ipad to itunes on my mac, I have a yellow bar listed as "other" taking space on my phone. Is this something that can be cleaned up on the iphone to make the space it is using avail? I have deleted some photos, music and apps to keep open space, but cannot seem to clean out this "other" and it is taking more space as the phone gets older. I assume it is fragmented data????

My phone has 2.14 GB of this "Other" data and it is driving me insane!!! i've been trying everything to reduce this bar and nothing is helping. i'm right there with you... just with a hole lot more data being taken up.

Don't even think about scanning thousands of slides yourself. If you have 5000 family slides, it's overwhelmingly likely that just 500 of them will give a highly effective representation of the whole collection, and will include not only all of the best ones but many of the second-best ones too. Scanning them all, or even half of them, will consume your entire summer and would probably give you and your sibs a lot more pictures than any of you really wants to keep.
It used to be true that scanning slides halfway decently required an expensive dedicated film scanner -- consumer flatbed scanners just weren't up to the task. That's no longer true. I have an under-$200 Epson Perfection V500 Photo flatbed scanner that outperforms the $2000+ Nikon film scanner I've had for 9 years in slide and negative scanning, and the software that came with it enables me to scan several (6 if I remember right) slides at once and automatically saves them as separate image files. That makes it much faster to use than the film scanner, and of course I can also use it for scanning flat reflective material, such as the more than 1000 old photographic prints and post cards I've digitized for my local historical society. The film scanner couldn't have done any of that.

1) Many items greyed out in the menu bar, for well over 2 years, maybe more!
2) I Can't drag more than one piece of content from your iTunes library to any device (iPhone, iPad)
If you do it gets stuck for HOURS and HOURS in "Preparing To Update" and the little activity circle never completes, ever!!
I used to be able to drag over 1000 tunes, movies, etc. go have breakfast come back and it would all be on my device!!
Can't do it anymore, one song at a time, maybe an album at a time, or one movie, and that is it!!
If you do a 2nd item the other items stop loading and never continue!!
This is so BAD, I don't understand how they don't have this fixed yet!!
Please tell me I am not the only one!!
...and If I am tell me how to fix it!
