What is a good practical book to buy for Tuxedo

Hi everyone
i need to know what would be the most practical book to buy for the Tuxedo. it
doesn't have to be a manual but something thats practical.
Thanks very much
mario

I'm not worried about it at all. I might not ever use Tuxedo again.
The software will surely be maintained and updated, but Mario was asking about books.

Even if it sticks to TUX 6.x, all the basic concepts are clearly
explained and
still valid to date.
Actually it deserves an update (BEA?).

You would have to web-order directly from Apple. Retail stores and resellers usually do not stock refurbs. All the Macs in our family that are in current use are refurbs and have provided excellent service. None have arrived with any cosmetic defects.

What is a good solid state hard drive for a Macbook Pro (2007 model)? I imagine they're still expensive, but I'm curious which would be good picks if I were to go for it.

I am using the Corsair P256 (256 GB) SSD. It is actually a Samsung drive. It works well, but will only give you part of the speed advantage due to the fact that the MBP from 2007 only has a 1.5 GB/s interface, while newer MBPs have a 3.0 GB/s interface.
Impact on battery run time seems to only be an increase of 15-20%.
Boot time on my MBP is 40 seconds to login prompt. System seems very responsive.

  • What is a good practice to handle LOV in jdev apps?

    Hi, experts,
    In jdev 11.1.2.3,
In our projects, there are many LOVs which the value are stored in a common dictionary table, for example in table refcode:
    refcode(id, low_value,high_value,meaning,domain_no),
Different LOVs will retrieve value pairs(low_value,meaning) , or (high_value,meaning) from refcode table by using domain_no as the filtering criteria.
In the end user's UI, the code/number field values should be displayed by a meaning word from refcode,
To accomplish this goal, I will create numberous associations between different tables with refcode,
and create VOs to have refcode entity view as a secondary entity view.
I feel some odd in doing so(because so many associations with the same refcode table),
Is that a good practice to handle LOV this way ?
    Thanks.

  • What is a good rmi book?

can someone please recommned a good rmi book, i know some things about rmi, having taken an advanced os class at college, so i'm familiar with stubs, and rpc, but know little about how to program with rmi. something for beginners, with examples, not all hello world programs.
    Thank you.

I am reading Java RMI by William Grosso (OReilly 2002). I recommend it. I especially like his emphasis on design principles. I wish there were more code to study. I also appreciate explanations on details that are presented as notes and boxes. Its a very enjoyable book to read, a nice presentation.
My introduction to RMI was chapter 5 (79 pages) of Core Java Volume II by Cay Horstmann (Sun MicroSystems Press 2002). I also recommend this. He has lots of examples and very helpful explanations and insights. I vaguely remember having to set up a Tomcat Web Server for one of the examples.
There are actually two OReilly RMI books. The other one is Java Distributed Computing by Jim Fairley (1998). I have seen it in bookstores, but I have not read it.
Java Network Programming by Elliot Rusty Harold (OReilly 2000) suggests Java Distributed Computing as further reading in his chapter 18 on RMI. This chapter is short, but as is the entire book, without peer in clarity of explanations. I must admit I only dip into this chapter when I am curious, I havent read all of it. But I really like the section Under the Hood.
(Also, somewhere on these forums recently, a person was asking about serialization. One of the replies recommended the 40 page chapter on serialization in Java RMI by Grosso.)

  • What's the best mac book to have for someone who is going to study for the next four years

Best mac book to use for study etc essays

Four years is a long time.  Your needs can change as studies progress from "general classes" to "deep core of your major".
What will you be studying?  How much do you now (or in the possible future) play games?  What is your budget?  How sensitive are you to screen size or computer weight?  Do you use a DVD drive often?

  • What is the best digital microscope to buy for optimal compatibility with the Mac?

I do not know which scope to buy for optimal compatibility. Any help one can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Omax digital microscope works great with Macs.  What you have to do is ignore the cd that comes with it that contains Windows software and connect the scope to your computer.  Boot up the Phone Booth app and it will display what is viewed in the scope.

  • What is a good java book

I am new to java. I had a class on it and the book we used in there was cumbersome and unorganized at best. I am wondering what other people have found are good books to help you get better at java. I need something that I can find answers to basic questions and also more advanced ones. If possible I'm looking for one that can also work like a reference book where if I need to know something specific that I can find that pretty quickly too.
Is there such a thing out there? Or am I looking for the impossible? Please help... anyone?

    Core Java Fundamentals - ISBN - 0130471771
Core Java Advanced features - ISBN - 0130927384
These assume you know another object orientated language.
The best refrence is the java documentation available at java.sun.com or it can be downloaded.

  • WELL THEN WHAT IS A GOOD PROSUMER CAMCORDER TO BUY???

In response to the "do not buy hdd cameras" thread, I am now left quite confused. anyway, I would like to be pointed in the proper direction of a new prosumer ntsc camera for my video production company. we do indie music videos and shorts, and sometimes educational movies. I am really trying to stay within $4000 range and I already know that is pretty low so please dont bother telling me that. but what is a specific camera model that will be effective for what I am doing and why? I currently have 2 XL2s and was looking to replace them with HDs since most are making that switch and it is becoming more of a demand. Thanks.

Recognize that producing work in HDV format is considerably more complex than just changing cameras.
Capture problems, conforming issues, monitoring changes and so on are very real challenges.

  • WHAT IS A GOOD AE FONT to use for mathematical notation?

Hello, what font would you use for graphics containing the following Greek and other symbols in After Effects of the Lorentz transformation?
I've been poking around the various fonts that came with my Production Suite Premium without too much luck.
    Thanks!
    Matt

At the link in Daftly's reply, the Mathematical Pi font is a good one, but a couple other thoughts...
The standard in the world of math publishing is, or will soon become, the STIX family of fonts. If you look at the bottom of their page and see the 6 huge organizations who are behind these fonts, you'll see why.
Any decent Unicode font (whether or not it has Unicode in its name) will have a full complement of Greek symbols.
What a Unicode font won't have are characters that stretch, like the parentheses in your example. For that, you'll need "math notation software" such as the ones Navarro mentioned. Either that, or you'll be doing a lot of manual editing in Illustrator.
The style guide for whoever you're submitting your work to, whether it's your university to which you'll submit your work or a corporation you work for, will likely have specifications for typesetting, and may specify a particular font. I've worked with a corporation that specified Palatino for publication, which I personally like as a font, but it's nigh impossible to typeset middle-level to advanced math in Palatino. Hopefully you can find some compromise.

  • What is the best Practice JCO Connection Settings for DC  Project

When multiple users are using the system data is missing from Web Dynpro Screens.  This seems to be due to running out of connections to pull data.
I have a WebDynpro Project based on component development using DC's.  I have one main DC which uses other DC's as Lookup Windows.  All DC's have their Own Apps.  Also inside the main DC screen, the data is populated from multiple function modules.
There are about 7 lookup DC Apps accessed by the user
I have created JCO destinations with following settigns
    Max Pool Size 20
    Max Number of Connections 200
Before I moved to DC project it was regular Web Dynpro Project with one Application and all lookup windows were inside the same Project.  I never had the issue with the same settings.
Now may be becuase of DC usage and increase in applications I am running out of connections.
Has any one faced the problem.  Can anyone suggest the best practice of how to size JCO connections.
It does not make any sense that just with 15-20 concurrent users I am seeing this issue.
All lookup components are destroyed after its use and is created manually as needed.  What else can I do to manage connections
    Any advise is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
