What is a pre query and in what circumstances it is used?

Please explain what is a pre query in BW mean,and when is it used...thank you for your answers...

Hi,
There is also a possibility to feed a variable with replacement path with a query result and use this variable for restriction in another query:

    Welcome to the Apple community Kobra.
    Unfortunately, you cannot do very much with your phone unless you get assistance from the previous owner, they should either provide you with the password to unlock it or remove their account from the phone entirely remotely through iCloud.com > Find My Phone.

  • Trying to capture what reports are being run and by what users

    Hi all,
    A few months ago, we upgraded to Discoverer 11g. One of the fixes I was hoping for was the updating of the query statistics table to see what reports are being run and who was running them.
    The problem is that most users are running Discoverer Plus but they are not "gracefully" closing Discoverer Plus via File -> Exit. They simply hit ths "X" to close the window. Oracle says that when users do this, their statistics are not written to the query statistics tables. I am finding that the EUL workbooks that we have installed are pretty useless due to this and really the only reason I have left the query statistics logging to be enabled. I am now seriously considering disabling this as it is very inconsistent (we do trim the query statistics table on a rolling 180 days of history via concurrent program that deletes stats older than 180 days).
    I am wondering if anyone here has done any logging of what workbooks are being run through some trigger? I see there is a EUL trigger function that we have in place, called post save documents, it records the workbook name, sql, etc. But it does not record the date that it was run. Has anyone modified this trigger so that every time a report is run it logs the report, sql, user and when it was being run to the table?
    I have an Oracle SR open, I've asked this in a couple different ways but they keep coming back to a canned answer of "if the user does not do File -> Exit, it will not log their session to the statistics table... blah blah blah".
    I hope I am making sense in what I am asking for.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Jerry

    Hi,
    I have never found the Discoverer stats to be very useful for some of the reasons you have given.
    I don't see that an EUL trigger will do what you want as unfortunately there is no open document trigger. So to get any information you have to rely on the user saving the workbook.
    One option you could explore is to use a DBMS_FGA (fine grained access) policy to audit some of the Discoverer query statements. For example, you can add a FGA policy to the EUL5_DOCUMENTS table that records all SELECTs on the table. That will show you which users are opening the workbooks you have in the EUL. Or you could add a policy to the views/tables used in the Discoverer workbooks and then audit the selects with an audit condition to audit only Discoverer sessions.
    How you do it depends on exactly what you want to audit.

  • Pre 3 and Sprint - what's up HP/Palm?

    HP/Palm,
    What's up with your talks with Sprint to carry the new Palm 3?
    I'm sure you're well aware of the buzz in the Palm community. You started the Pre in Sprint and have many loyal customers who have family plans with them, such as myself. Sprint also has the best data plan rates out there.
    You and Sprint are putting "us", your long-term customers between a rock and a hard place. Do we stay loyal to WebOS and switch providers or stay with Sprint and switch to Android or another Smartphone option?
    Make things easy - workout a deal to offer the phone with your long-term partner.

    I like webOS, I'm just not happy with the backbone to it all.  In 2 years it really hasn't broken any headway with constant updates, or even apps, regardless of HP acquiring Palm.  And it is too little too late to want to 'try' what webOS 2.0 has to offer on a Pre3 device.
    For the sake of webOS, I hope it can stand on its own too feet.
    Sounds like you are in the "I don't care about anything but seeing the Pre3 on Sprint" crowd.
    Sprint made a decision to put most of their eggs in the Android basket after the success of the EVO last year.  Which mean NO webOS on Sprint for the forseeable future.
    Dude.  Sprint passed on the Pre+, then again on the Pre2.  When its obvious they're not taking Pre 3 as well (ie, Pre 3 is picked up by ATT and VZ but NOT Sprint) that should be strike 3 and everyone waiting should move on.
    Personally, I didn't wait.  I took the writing on the wall as strike three and moved to AT&T 3 months ago.  And believe it or not, spending $30/month less now.

  • How Do I Find Out What Generation Extreme I Have and Then What?

    I just "inherited" an Airport Extreme and I want to try it in my new place to see if it provides better performance than the cheezy G class WIFI built in to the router from my ISP.
    I have the hardware but no documentation or software.  It was years ago that I set this thing up the first time.
    On the back I see the Model number is A1143
    At the risk of looking really stupid what do I do now?
    I can can plug in the power and the ethernet from the modem.  Now ...
    Do I need to update firmware?
    What Drivers / software do I need?
    Where will I find the "how to" steps I need to make the Extreme my WIFI router?

    On the back I see the Model number is A1143
    You have a 2nd Generation AirPort Extreme
    At the risk of looking really stupid what do I do now?
    You might want to download the setup manual. http://support.apple.com/manuals/#airport
    What Drivers / software do I need?
    You need AirPort Utility 5.5.3 to configure the AirPort Extreme.  http://support.apple.com/downloads/#airport
    Do I need to update firmware?
    AirPort Utility will prompt you if a firmware update is available
    Where will I find the "how to" steps I need to make the Extreme my WIFI router?
    Click "Continue" when you open AirPort Utility to start the step by step guided setup.

    Thank you for looking into this.  The help is another nightmare with nobody to phone to, left in cyberspace again...
    You NEED to go into your browser history to see the EXACT address where you did this. Adobe doesn't have any email service. There IS the ability to email PDF with the CreatePDF service, but you MUST use an existing email address with it, you don't sign up for one.
    Also, unless you were requested (required) to enter a payment method and payment info, and then you entered such, you weren't charged for anything. It's just that simple.

  • I'm going a project with a character that has a quote inside. I outlined each part of the character that needs color. How do i color whats inside my path? and not whats on the outside of the outline?

    I have this project where i have outlined my character and have a quote inside. I outlined the hair and arms and part that will be needing color. But I'm not sure how to color the words on the inside of the outlined parts without it affecting the letters that overlap.

    I'm trying to follow your description. Can you provide a screen capture?
    A normal workflow is to organize elements in groups and layers. You can assign multiple attributes to any of these "Objects" using the "Appearance" panel. Move the attributes, such as fills and strokes, up or down the Appearance list as needed. Try separating your elements in this way. Target a group or layer by clicking the round button to its right, in the Layers panel and add additional fill, stroke, or effect attributes from the Appearance Panel Flyout Menu.

  • Query and sort content from two lists using search API

    Hi,
    I have a custom web part which I would like to query two different lists and sort the results by Created Date. One is a list of news articles and the other contains blogs. So basically the result set will be an intermix of news and blog items sorted by date.
    I would also like to do this by query through the search API. Does anybody have any sample code to do this?
    thanks,
    Sherazad.
    Sherazad

    Hi Sherazad:
    To use the JOIN operator in CAML, your lists must have a
    defined relation(Lookup column). You can refer to sample code that I list as follow.
    Create your query from one of your lists.
    SPList Projects= SPContext.Current.Site.RootWeb.Lists["Projects"];
    SPQuery query = new SPQuery();
    To do the join, setquery.Joins
     <Join Type="INNER" ListAlias="Contacts">
        <Eq>
            <FieldRef Name="ProjectManager" RefType="ID" /> ///
    ProjectManager is a Lookup Column.
            <FieldRef List="Contacts" Name="ID" />
        </Eq>
     </Join>
    And query.ProjectedFields (To tell SharePoint how to project the lookup columns into the result)
    <Field Name="Project Name" Type="Lookup" List="Projects" ShowField="Title">
    /// My Project Name is a Display Name in Memory so you can give a name by yourself But ShowField must be Internal Name of the Column(Project Name)
    You can add a lot of columns that you want to display.
    Everything comes from memory.
    To choose the fields to display set query.ViewFields
    <FieldRef Name="Your Internal Name of Column Or
    ProjectedFields - Field Name">
    <FieldRef Name="Your Internal Name of Column Or
    ProjectedFields - Field Name">
    <FieldRef Name="Your Internal Name of Column Or
    ProjectedFields - Field Name">
    Then
    SPListItemCollection result = ListA.GetItems(query);

  • What is query and reporting

    hai sap gurus..
    what is difference the query and reporting
    in an interview i have been asked.
    how many queries and how many reporting  did you created.

    Hi Naren,
    SAP Query
    An ABAP Workbench tool that enables users without knowledge of the ABAP programming language to define and execute their own reports.
    In ABAP Query, you enter texts and select fields and options to determine the structure of the reports. Fields are selected from functional areas and can be assigned a sequence by numbering.
    ABAP Query offers the following types of reports:
    Basic lists
    Statistics
    Ranked lists
    Query used for short run based i.e the format of the report output you can change frequently.
    Report (CA)
    A compilation of data for a company or group of companies in the form of a table or list.
    An evaluation is the result of executing a report. It can be either displayed on the screen or sent to a printer.
    Here ABAP programing language will be used to execute the report.
    Report used for long run it is standard output we can,t change frequently.
    I hope it will clear for you,
    Regards,
    Murali.

  • What is open data set and close data set

    what is open data set and close data set,
    how to use the files in sap directories ?

    hi,
    Open Dataset is used to read or write on to application server ... other than that i am not sure that there exists any way to do the same ... here is a short description for that
    FILE HANDLING IN SAP
    Introduction
    • Files on application server are sequential files.
    • Files on presentation server / workstation are local files.
    • A sequential file is also called a dataset.
    Handling of Sequential file
    Three steps are involved in sequential file handling
    • OPEN
    • PROCESS
    • CLOSE
    Here processing of file can be READING a file or WRITING on to a file.
    OPEN FILE
    Before data can be processed, a file needs to be opened.
    After processing file is closed.
    Syntax:
    OPEN DATASET <file name> FOR {OUTPUT/INPUT/APPENDING}
    IN {TEXT/BINARY} MODE
    This statement returns SY_SUBRC as 0 for successful opening of file or 8, if unsuccessful.
    OUTPUT: Opens the file for writing. If the dataset already exists, this will place the cursor at the start of the dataset, the old contents get deleted at the end of the program or when the CLOSE DATASET is encountered.
    INPUT: Opens a file for READ and places the cursor at the beginning of the file.
    FOR APPENDING: Opens the file for writing and places the cursor at the end of file. If the file does not exist, it is generated.
    BINARY MODE: The READ or TRANSFER will be character wise. Each time ‘n’’ characters are READ or transferred. The next READ or TRANSFER will start from the next character position and not on the next line.
    IN TEXT MODE: The READ or TRANSFER will start at the beginning of a new line each time. If for READ, the destination is shorter than the source, it gets truncated. If destination is longer, then it is padded with spaces.
    Defaults: If nothing is mentioned, then defaults are FOR INPUT and in BINARY MODE.
    PROCESS FILE:
    Processing a file involves READing the file or Writing on to file TRANSFER.
    TRANSFER Statement
    Syntax:
    TRANSFER <field> TO <file name>.
    <Field> can also be a field string / work area / DDIC structure.
    Each transfer statement writes a statement to the dataset. In binary mode, it writes the length of the field to the dataset. In text mode, it writes one line to the dataset.
    If the file is not already open, TRANSFER tries to OPEN file FOR OUTPUT (IN BINARY MODE) or using the last OPEN DATASET statement for this file.
    IF FILE HANDLING, TRANSFER IS THE ONLY STATEMENT WHICH DOES NOT RETURN SY-SUBRC
    READ Statement
    Syntax:
    READ DATASET <file name> INTO <field>.
    <Field> can also be a field string / work area / DDIC structure.
    Each READ will get one record from the dataset. In binary mode it reads the length of the field and in text mode it reads each line.
    CLOSE FILE:
    The program will close all sequential files, which are open at the end of the program. However, it is a good programming practice to explicitly close all the datasets that were opened.
    Syntax:
    CLOSE DATASET <file name>.
    SY-SUBRC will be set to 0 or 8 depending on whether the CLOSE is successful or not.
    DELETE FILE:
    A dataset can be deleted.
    Syntax:
    DELETE DATASET <file name>.
    SY-SUBRC will be set to 0 or 8 depending on whether the DELETE is successful or not.
    Pseudo logic for processing the sequential files:
    For reading:
    Open dataset for input in a particular mode.
    Start DO loop.
    Read dataset into a field.
    If READ is not successful.
    Exit the loop.
    Endif.
    Do relevant processing for that record.
    End the do loop.
    Close the dataset.
    For writing:
    Open dataset for output / Appending in a particular mode.
    Populate the field that is to be transferred.
    TRANSFER the filed to a dataset.
    Close the dataset.

  • Pre-Query - Modifying the default_where

    Hi,
    I'm trying to get the value of the default_where clause to modify it (with set_block_property) after the user has entered the ENTER QUERY MODE and decides to RUN QUERY. I'm creating a Pre-Query event for the module component where the search criteria are entered, but it doesn't seem to work; the where_clause (l_old_where) I retrieve is always empty. My code to retrieve the default_where is:
    BEGIN
    DECLARE
    l_block VARCHAR2(32) := name_in('system.trigger_block');
    l_old_where VARCHAR2(2000);
    BEGIN
    l_old_where := get_block_property(l_block, default_where);
    message('l_old_where =' || l_old_where); --unfortunately this message always returns an empty value
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN VALUE_ERROR THEN
    qms$forms_errors.push(QMS$FORMS_ERRORS.MSGGETTEXT(33, 'Query criteria too complex - simplify and re-query'), 'E', 'OFG', 33);
    qms$forms_errors.raise_failure;
    END;
    END;
    Does anybody know what I am doing wrong? Do you have a better way to retrieve the default_where value?
    Thanks,
    Denis.

    Denis,
    The DEFAULT_WHERE is part of all queries. It is set either in the property palette at design time, or programatically at runtime. If a user does an enter query and specifies some criteria, that criteria is appended to the DEFAULT_WHERE. Thus, interrogating the DEFAULT_WHERE won't help you in this case.
    There is no "nice" way to do this. You have about three triggers you can choose from, that get fired after the users has entered their criteria, but before the query is executed. One is PRE-QUERY, and I forget the other two. One of them is SET-QUERY or something like that.
    What you do is interrogate the fields themselves. For example, if you have two fields: NAME and SALARY, and the user entered the criteria "A%" and ">5000", then it's up to you to examine those fields to see what the user typed. Then you can do with them what you will.
    So you don't get the SQL that Forms generates, but you do get the same info that Forms uses to generate the SQL.
    There is also a gotcha to look out for. When referring to fields in a block that are active during enter-query mode, use the NAME_IN builtin. For example, the SALARY field is of type number, but the criteria is ">5000". That ">" is not acceptable (normally) to a NUMBER field, so you will get errors if you do something like "message('Salary criteria: '||:block.salary);"
    I hope this helps.

  • Pre-Query

    What are the steps for setting up a Pre-Query?
    Thanks,
    TMS

    Hi TMS,
    A pre query is just created as you would create any other query. But it becomes a pre-query when you supply the name of this query in a characteristic replacement path variable. The entire scenario could be like, you need to get a list of materials from query 1 (which will become your pre-query) and supply this to query 2 (your ResultSet query). So in Query 2, you need to create a variable for Material that is processed by replacement path and then give query 1 as the name of the query from where to get the material list. So the user will run query 2, but in the background query 1 will run and supply the list to query 2.
    Hope this helps...

  • Pre requisites and steps for BI content installation.

    Hi ,
    We need to install Complete BI content in our production system , I am aware of the steps to be exeuted in SPRO but wanted to know the complete procedure step by step .
    1) what are the pre requisites and checks before and after doing activation in SPRO .
    2) If we already have some BI content installed and now we do complete reinstallation, will that create any issue .
    3)Can we do activation directly in Production ?
    Thanks,
    Neetika.

    Hello Neethika, for your second question
    2) If we already have some BI content installed and now we do complete reinstallation, will that create any issue
    If the object which you are going to install is already active and if it is customised, and if you go for reinstallation, new standard object will reinstall the already customised existing oblect. However, if you select the check box MATCH (X) or COPY and do the installation, object will be activated with retainging customisation. so there will be no need to customise it again.
    It is always recommended to go for manual collection of objects rather then automatic collection, because there might be wierd chances that all the objects might not get activated and this will cause a problem while you move the same from DEV to PRODUCTION.
    feel free write if any further clarication need
    Thanks
