What is a software like View NX from nikon to use on a mac?

Ever since I upgraded to mountain lion, view nx has not been working. I was wondering if anyone has used another software that works like it that I could use until it becomes compatable.

Desktop like view of files and folders using Swing

I have an application for upload/download of files from a server. The application is developed using swing and it works perfectly. Currently, the files and folders are displayed in a table view(using jtable) in which the file/ folder will be displayed with icon and extension in each row.
I need to display these files and folders in a desktop like view. How can I implement this?

Error when trying to view page from Peoplesoft CI using JDeveloper

I am new to JDeveloper and have created a web service using Peoplesoft. The wsdl was published to the web server and JDeveloper recognized it and allowed me to create a page from it. When I try to run it I get the following. What am I doing wrong?

First of all test the web service you have created in model project. Right click the web service name and select "Test WebService". If you see any issue(s) while testing fix it first before you run the jspx page.
Check the port number in the URL and connections.xml, it have to be same.

Whats the easiest way to transfer pics from my SD car to my mac

I am upgrading from an LG Revolution droid to an iPhone shortly and would like to know if anybody knows what the quickest easiest way would be to transfer all the pictures on my SD card onto my apple computer. I would love it if they could go directly into iphoto but am not sure if thats an option. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Why can't I view video from my SD card on my Mac? It appears on my RFH400 but not the Mac?!

I recorded four short videos onto an SD card using a Canon HFR400 video camera. When I load the SD card into the computer I’m only able to view one video. The others show no images, only a black screen but each will play for the length of each video.
Weird part is that I can play back all four videos in playback mode on the camera. It’s just loading them onto the computer which causes 3 of 4 to go blank. Any idea why it’s not allowing me to view??
I thought it had to do with the format or possibly using a Mac, but it doesn’t make sense that one video can be seen and the others can’t. They were all shot within 15 minutes of each other. May have to try Canon tech support but it doesn’t seem to be a camera issue.

How to view images from Pictures Folder using iPhoto?

Right now when I click an image in the Pictures folder, the image is automatically opened using Preview. I want to view images directly from my Pictures folder, and have them open to iPhoto. Is that possible?
I just want to be able to view/sort my photos by Folders rather than by Events, Titles or Photo dates. I can't seem to get them to sort by folders in iPhoto.

Iphoto is a Photo Database designed to allow you to organise and manipulate you photos without recourse to your files.
It's not an image viewer, it can only work with photos that have been imported to the database.
I just want to be able to view/sort my photos by Folders rather than by Events,
An Event is a folder of images with a fancy icon. You can organize your pics in iPhoto anyway you want, using Albums, folders, keywords and so on. It's far more flexible that using folders in the Finder.
You can opt to organise the files yourself, rather than have iPhoto do it for you, but I don't recommend it.
Simply go to iPhoto Menu -> Preferences -> Advanced and uncheck 'Copy Files to the iPhoto Library on Import'.
Now iPhoto will not copy the files, but rather simply reference them on your HD. To do this it will create an alias in the Originals Folder that points to your file. It will still create a thumbnail and, if you modify the pics, a Modified version within the iPhoto Library Folder.
However, you need to be aware of a number of potential pitfalls using this system.
1. Import and deleting pics are more complex procedures
2. You cannot move or rename the files on your system or iPhoto will lose track of them on systems prior to 10.5 and iPhoto 08. Even with the later versions issues can still arise if you move the referenced files to new volumes or between volumes.
3. Most importantly, migrating to a new disk or computer can be much more complex.
Always allowing for personal preference, I've yet to see a good reason to run iPhoto in referenced mode unless you're using two photo organisers.
If disk space is an issue, you can run an entire iPhoto Library from an external disk:
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
If you're concerned about accessing the files, There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.

Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
For users of 10.6 and later:
You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.
For Users of 10.4 and later:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

I need help with viewing files from the external hard drive on Mac

I own a 2010 mac pro 13' and using OS X 10.9.2(current version). The issue that I am in need of help is with my external hard drive.
I am a photographer so It's safe and convinent to store pictures in my external hard drive.
I have 1TB external hard drive and I've been using for about a year and never dropped it or didn't do any thing to harm the hardware.
Today as always I connected the ext-hard drive to my mac and click on the icon.
All of my pictures and files are gone accept one folder that has program.
So I pulled up the external hard drive's info it says the date is still there, but somehow i can not view them in the finder.
I really need help how to fix this issue!

Organizing emails from different accounts - use "on my mac" folder?

Hello - I now have 5 email accounts - IMAP and POP - pulling into my Mail 3.6. I would like to be able to file emails from these accounts in common folders that will never get deleted from my mac.
For example, I would like to be able to save emails from multiple accounts into a "personal" or "work" folder that I can access forever. I think that making folders within the "On My Mac" section effectively removes them from the mail accounts and stores them on my machine. But I can't find any literature about this.
So is this the best way?
Does it matter if they are Pop or IMAP accounts?
Will they be deleted if the email account ever gets deleted?

When you create a New Mailbox, On My Mac, it is on your hard drive, and not on any server. You always then have the choice to either Move or Copy messages -- the latter leaves a copy in the original mailbox (account Inbox, for example).
On My Mac mailboxes do not get removed when any account is deleted. On My Mac mailboxes are neither POP or IMAP, as only actual email accounts and their standard mailboxes or in the case of folders on the IMAP server are associated with an account.

Switching IPOD from "Windows" to use on a Mac

I have a 20GB Ipod formatted for Windows and used on a Windows XP desktop computer (there is a separate problem of the Windows computer no longer recognizing the Ipod; I have been through all of the help, forums and the 5 "R"s to no avail - I think I have a bad USB cable).
My question is this: when using the "restore" (to factory settings) in the updater, do use do this on the (orginial) Windows XP computer or do you restore it on the Mac (where I want to use the Ipod in the future on the Mac)?

First, please note that an iPod formatted on a PC can be read by both PC and Mac, but not the other way round. If you want to do a Restore on a Mac, just connect your iPod with a Mac, the iPod update wil pop up then click Restore.

By default, a Mac stores in iCloud the data of iCloud-compatible applications, always that "Documents & Data" is turned on in System Preferences > iCloud. Also, you can store mails, contacts, calendars, reminders and notes, always that you have activated them in System Preferences > iCloud.
You choose what to store. If you want to check what's stored, open System Preferences > iCloud > Manage
