What is about rumors with DNS bug?
There a rumors about update 2008-5 that it is not solving problems with clients (›So Apple might have fixed some of the more important parts for servers, but is far from done yet as all the clients linked against a DNS client library still need to get the workaround for the protocol weakness.‹ in http://isc.sans.org/diary.html?storyid=4810)
I think, clients are not at all touched with this matter. Is this right?

Client caches can be poisoned. But this forum is for the server product, where DNS poisoning is more troublesome. That issue has largely been resolved with Apple's latest patch.

In the CSS Global load balancing I was going through the description of using the setup desribed, but I am confused about the following statements
"An application session is configured between two CSS switches in two different geographic locations. There is no requirement for a point-to-point link joining the sites; the only requirement is that the two sites can route to each other.
Using the CSS switches DNS capability, a higher level DNS server (in this example, the one authoritative for yourdomain.com) will be configured to use both CSS' circuit VLAN address as NS records for a sub-domain called www.yourdomain.com. Whichever CSS is referred to by the higher level DNS server will then resolve that a record request with the IP address of the DNS content rule on the CSS.
The primary site will be preferred through a combination of using an ACL on the secondary CSS, an application session between the two CSS switches, and configuring the above mentioned NS records on the higher-level DNS server"

Aiyappathere is always an external DNS due to the protocol nature.
If you have a DNS server for your domain, say cisco.com, you will create an entry on this dns server to point www.cisco.com to the 2 CSS.
When a client does a domain name resolution for www.cisco.com they will first query the .com server, that will redirect the dns request to your server .cisco.com that will redirect the request to www.cisco.com which will be a CSS that can answer the DNS request with the VIP address.
If you don't have a dns server, for your .cisco.com network yet, you can contact the .com authorities and ask them to register one or to register the CSS directly [really not recommended as the CSS is very limited it what it can do with DNS].
So, to answer your question, no an external dns server is not required [you can test this function in a lab without dns server] but in a production environment you will need one.

What is going on with the DNS servers?
I've been having intermittent connection problems with "DNS Server Not Responding" identified as the error by Win 7 troubleshooting for a little while now.
This has been sporadic for a couple of months and usually resolves itself after a short time, but in the last few days I've barely been able to access the internet at all, with the exception of a handful of websites and today it came to a head and I could only access a couple of websites for most of the day.
Thankfully I finally managed to find a website that I could access to remind myself of the addresses for the free google DNS servers and am now back online.
Just wanted to stop by to report the issue and ask What on earth is going on with BTs DNS servers?Hi Epona222,

All I can say is that I REALLY like my Touch 4th gen because I have all sorts of capabilities in a small form: e-mail, web browsing, news, weather, books, magazines, etc. etc. Plus lots and lots of apps out there, including so many free ones. I use the Cloud a lot so it's great to have everything sync'd to my MacBookPro (e-mail, Evernote, Pocket, etc.)
It would be easier, though, to do some of this, especially magazines, on the iPad mini, but, again, I love the small size of the Touch.
As for the 5th gen instead of the 4th, the fifth has Siri and the 3D feature in maps, which are great. And I'm sure it's a lot faster in iOS 6 than the 4th gen. And cool colors!

What is going on with the Iphone4 home button locking up? I see lots of people having issues with the button becoming unresponsive, but no resolution.
Suggestions include:

Restrore
ReSync
Push harder,
etc.

No they do not and no it is not affecting a large portion of the user community.
If it is an actual hardware issue, the only fix is to repair or replace the hardware.
If it is a software issue, restoring as new will fix it. -
When i tried to purchase a movie, My Apple TV said it would take 11 hours to load. Any ideas about what to do or what is going on with that?
It always has a very high number at the beginning, but it never takes that long....
However, it can take several hours....I've found this to be true on any device or computer I've downloaded movies or tv shows on - Mac, PC, iPad, Kindle Fire....you name it.
However, even if it does take a long time, that does not prevent you from starting to watch it as soon as it has done a little downloading. Here is the Apple link for typical download times:

Variants allow you to save sets of input values for programs that you often start with the same selections. You can use them for any programs except subroutine pools. Whenever you start a program in which selection screens are defined, the system displays a set of input fields for database-specific and program-specific selections. To select a certain set of data, you enter an appropriate range of values. You can also use variants to change the appearance of the selection screen by hiding selection criteria. This is particularly useful when you are working with large selection screens on which not all of the fields are relevant.
So basically variants are use to ease your work directly or indirectly. Otherwise every time you need to give input to those values. To avoid doing the same steps again and again for selection screens you can create variants.

What is the fastest/ best DNS to use with Infinity...
I'm using a seperate DHCP server in my home LAN which gives me the ability to asign different DNS servers. Ive previously used Open DNS which seems a little slow, so I'm currently passing the routers IP address as the DNS server which works fine, but I suspect it is sub optimal. Based on the experience of you folks, what are the best/fastest DNS servers to use in conjunction with Infinity (Specifically 100 Mb FTTP)?

Nice find ducllum just ran namebench and it found the same dns server in your post was 175 percent faster than the standard ones I was using.

About a month ago I couldn't access 100s of pix from my iPhoto library. I then went through the process of "re-finding" all missing pix. I 2x checked that they opened. Now, I'm having the same original problem! What's iPhoto doing with my pix? Is there a "batch" fix?
Try rebuilding the library.
Hold down the Option and Command keys then launch iPhoto.
Select: Repar the iPhoto Library Database
Click Rebuild. -
Hey Guys, I have a IMAC G5 and I just uploaded Ilife 08 to it, the problem is, when I create a DVD it sounds good until I burn it. About 1/4 of the way through it the sound stops.. What's going on with it? Is it the encoding proocess?? I'm stumped... Help me out here!

A. iMovie'08 to 11 are not the tools of choice if one aim to do a DVD as they all discard the quality of the picture by discarding every second line in it. NO way around this due to that it happens between Event's and Project's so as soon as it is being edited - Quality is lost.
B. I use iMovie HD6 or FinalCut
C. if iM'08 to 11 is a must - THEN DO NOT - Share to iDVD - BUT - "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (or ev. Medium)
THEN DO - Save as a DiskImage and see that this plays OK and ALL SOUND
D. if added audio from iTunes - then instead in iTunes - Collect all needed Audio into a NEW PlayList then BURN this as an Audio-CD (.aiff - NOT .mp3 or other) - Then use the Files on this CD in Your Movie Project's (I do)
E. I only use .aiff audio - 48kHz 16-bit (miniDV tape Camera) or 44.1kHz Audio CD - NEVER .mp3 or .wma or other file format - ALL is converted first into .aiff - ALWAYS ! - I have very few problem with Audio in my projects in iMovie or FinalCut !
