What is Adobe Device Central

Question

When starting my PC computer with windows XP Pro, I get a
Adobe Updater suggestion to add Flash (R) Lite (tm) update for
Device Central CS3.
Then on top of this block of text appears another block
"apdproxy.exe" Unable to locate component. This application has
failed to start because ConnAPI.dll was not found. Re-installing
the application may fix this problem.
My first response is:
1.I was not looking to update anything at this time. I was
not trying to do anything except turn my computer on.
2. As I look at this forum, it appears that all the responses
in this "Device Central" forum are directed to Mac users.
3. It appears that FlashLite is some download that is useful
for those who want to use advanced features on their cell phones,
which I have no interest in.
4. What should I make of all of this? What is the ConnAPI.dll
that I apparently do not have?

Adobe, like many companies these days (like Apple with iTunes
for
instance!!!), assumes you want to keep up to date with the
latest software,
so installing Adobe software sets up your machine to
automatically look for
software updates.

No it is software for PC and Mac. It's software that enables
you to test and
profile software, applications, graphics, even web pages that
are designed
for mobile devices.

Flash Lite is a version of the Flash player for cell phones,
PDAs and
certain other mobile devices. At this time it is not normally
a download,
but rather a version of the player that is pre-installed by
the device
manufacturer. There are *developer* versions of the Flash
Lite player
available for download, but they are not targeted at
consumers.

If you have Flash CS3 or CS2 installed, you probably have
Device Central
installed. The error you are getting suggests some fault in
your
installation. You might find reinstalling Flash (or the Adobe
Suite you
have, if you installed a suite) will fix the error.
So far as I know there is not a separate installer or
uninstaller for Device
Central.
